Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the product's impressive speed, strong performance, and overall ease of use, including its simple setup and seamless connection. They also appreciate its compatibility, DOCSIS 3.1 support, and affordable price, noting that it operates without lag and stays cool. However, customers are negative about the limited number of ethernet ports and, for some, the signal strength.

I purchased this along with an Eero system to replace the Gateway from Comcast as I was getting inconsistent service. I have a gig connection and was experiencing buffering far too often with no help from Comcast. It’s very easy to install and despite the initial investment in the new equipment it works so much better with no buffering whatsoever. I have up to 15 devices working at once including TVs phones tablets and security system. Dump the Comcast equipment you will not regret it!

I upgraded my internet speed from my cable provider (Comcast Xfinity) and my old modem was limiting me to less than half of what I was paying for in the plan. This upgraded model was exactly what I needed to get the full speed (over 200mpbs) . Easy to install and when running through the Comcast installation wizard, they recognized the modem as well. Got it up and running in 20 min or so. Only con was that it was a little more than I wanted to spend on the modem, but otherwise very happy.

Comcast kept contacting me regarding my outdated modem, so it was time to upgrade. Since I don't like to perform incremental upgrades and I already have a great wireless access point, all I needed was the latest and greatest Docsis 3.1 modem. The Netgear 32x8 DOCSIS 3.1 modem is very fast. I was surprised at the small footprint and relatively low cost. It does generate a bit of heat, so leave some room around it so it can run cool. So far I am receiving 120% of the provisioned speed (300mb of 250mb) and I couldn't be happier!

this modem was labled as compatible with my service provider. I had upgraded to gigabit level of service. The setup was easy on my side the service provider had to make several tweaks on their side being that the device was truly pulling the needed bandwidth but their system was being bottle necked. all got resolved and am always getting an average of 900 mbps. we can stream and work with such ease. The access point is also a Netgear product, together, WOW.

Solid Cable Modem- Pays for itself

I was looking for a way to save money on renting a cable modem from my provider, and I settled on this product. This has been a great modem- I currently run 400mbps download and a 40mbps upload. The only drawback that I have is it has a tendency to run hot in the power of the upstream bonded channels. This however might be a result of my cable set-up and not the modem itself. Otherwise this has been running great.

i love this modem it really pushes the limit in gathering all the bandwidth it can get, im paying for 400 MB and its giving me 480MB, thats like amazing, and it works with spectrum, but not for spectrum tv or phone, so if you have tv from spectrum then this modem wont work but if you just have internet then this is the way to go

This was a much needed upgrade to our LAN at home. Our modem kept crashing and is probably somewhat archaic by today’s standards (bought in 2012). Streaming is easier and now running two routers with multiple devices for a growing family. The kids will start having more requirements to play, stream, and learn online—this modem will make it much easier and faster to support their needs.

I am a gamer and I have found that the Modem is only giving me excellent results. We have it hooked up to comcast and we are getting the advertised 175down/5up that we bought precisely. I spent quite a bit of time researching which modem was best and this was right there at the top. I have it hooked up to a Wireless router that I bought from Best Buy. I think you will find that it is perfect. I also bought the 2 year best buy protection plan as the modem can run warm.

Save the $10 per month you pay the cable company and buy this modem and your own WiFi. Easy to set up, and I get the full 800 gb connection I pay Comcast for. This also allows me to run a wire to a more central part of the home for the WiFi router, and I got a great router with better range than what I was paying monthly for from the cable company. It takes about a year before it has paid for itself in rental savings.

So easy to set up, offers fantastic speeds with ease of use. I called my IPS and was up and running with a new modem and new wifi service in minutes. Pair this with an equally fast router and youll have blazing fast speeds across all of your devices in your home.

Was having issues with internet dropping intermittently. Had to replace my modem, researched and found this at a reasonable price with everything I needed. After having my provider, Optimum, install their codes this works flawlessly. I only wish it had more than 1 ethernet port.

Choosing the Netgear DOCSIS 3.1 MODEM

It's difficult to tick all of the boxes regarding an item such as this because part of the proof of any claim of excellence is in the longevity of the device. The Quality portion of this rating is based in part, on my experience with Netgear components in general and an assessment of how 'well made' this particular unit appeared to be when I pulled it out of the box, so, check and check. The value proposition for this device comes down to a price comparison for the features offered, viewed through the lens of the quality assessment previously evaluated ; check again. Finally ease of use. Its setup was really quite easy, except, I had to contact the cable ISP to have them do the necessary cache clearing and resetting of the service configuration on their side. [ugh]. I'm not sure how much of the time spent on that process was so that they could attempt to convince me to convince my client to continue renting a modem from them, but we figured that the ROI is about 16 months or so, compared to the rental, with an expected longevity of at least twice that before we'll consider replacing it, even with inevitable technological advances between now and then. So we declined their several offers to rent. Anyway it was handled and I expect the device to live up to my experience with other Netgear devices. We're happy with it.

This is probably overkill for my 400mb internet connection, but my last modem kept overheating (we stream TV exclusively...and it's a lot) and I decided I needed a modem with some performance overhead. It took about 10 minutes total to get it working, including the phone call to my cable company (YMMV on that one...) Hopefully in the future I'll be able to upgrade to gigabit internet and really take advantage of the speed this is capable of.

    Good Docsis 3.1 Modem

Great modem for gigabit speeds. Docsis 3.0 will work fine if slower speeds from ISP. Haven’t had any problems with it. Comcast tried to blame this modem for intermittent drops but after swapping out for their gateway, problems persisted. I was sure the modem was fine but it took a lot of persistance. Make sure you ethernet into the back via 192.168.100..1 (with laptop) to access modem admin mode and verify latest firmware or you won’t get gigabit speeds! You must do a full reset and watch for up and downstream lights to flash together to verify firmware is downloading. Unlike routers, the frmware only comes via ISP but the customer service at ISP (Comcast) have no clue how it happens. Contact Netgear directly for sequence if you can’t get it downloaded. Can be frustrating - wish they would allow user to download latest as they do with routers. Enjoy!

Netgear Modem cheaper than Comcast Rental

The best part about this modem is that it's cheaper, after a year, than paying Comcast to rent theirs. It's future-proofed with DOCSIS 3.1 so if I get 2 or 3 years out of it I'll be happy knowing I wasn't renting from Comcast and putting more money than is necessary into their pockets. Also, it was easy to install and set-up. Works well with my netgear router. Speeds are consistent, but it comes as no surprise that my "gigabit" service from Comcast is not up to par.

I finally purchase a cable modem several months ago and discontinued renting from Comcast so I don't have to pay a monthly rental fee. I was very please with the performance of this cable modem. It has been running very smoothly for all my connected devices. The cable modem was very easy to set up and the instructions was very easy to follow. I couldn't be more happier with this purchase.
