I bought this modem to replace my existing xfinity router. Set up was a breeze, didn't even have to call xfinity and the instructions are included. The only bad thing for some is that it only has 1 ethernet output, but I am using it with my linksys ea9500 which has many outlets so it wasn't a big deal. The two of these work amazing together and the modem is very small and lightweight. Just make sure you get a router as well if you plan to use WiFi as this is only a modem.

So far it's been great. I upgraded from an 8x4 channel and all the additional channels have made a huge difference with our speed and reliability. A bit pricey compared to other modems but the additional channels and the docsis 3.1 support should give you some "future proofing". Plus in all reality it will pay for itself after a while with the money you save on the equipment rental from your ISP.

We recently changed internet carriers due to desperately needing faster speeds and we decided to try NETGEAR - CM1000 Ultra-High Speed to help maximize the upgrade and it has been excellent. It was initially challenging to break the $200 mark, but I would recommended it. It works great and we recently learned that in the next year or so many internet providers are going to be upgrading to 3.0 or higher and this unit will not require us to do any additional upgrades.

Upgraded to gigabit internet, and my old Surfboard modem wasn't fast enough. Saw a thread on Reddit that recommended the Netgear modem over the Surfboard DOCSIS 3.1 one, so I decided to go for it. Installation was easy, I did have to call Comcast to have them add it to my account and after they sent the reset signal it started working right away. Easily hitting the gigabit speeds I'm paying for so I'm happy!

Brought it for Optimum Internet 1GB Plan and it works out well. Don't need to contact Optimum to change the modem address because was able to use the do-it-yourself way. Modem is up and running less than 10mins.
Good Bye Modem Rental Fee.
Thank you for the same-day shipping too!

Been dealing with knuckleheads at Cox cable. They said I needed to upgrade by Motorola surfboard to docsis3.1 to get the full benefit of my download speed. I upgraded with this device and the price point was great including a 15% discount for trading in old modem

If your provider supports it, get it! My service was constantly suffering from extreme drops in speed, 430 average to 20-30Mbps. After testing my router, I determined the issue to be the modem. I have had no issues with service any more and have even noticed an increase, 475 Mbps average now. Can't say this will be true for all but am pleased with its performance.

Best Modem for Gigabit Internet

This modem rocks! For Xfinity gigabit service you need a docsis 3.1 modem. Xfinity has certified 3, an Arris SB8200, Motorola MB8600 and of the Netgear CM1000. I tried the Motorola MB8600 because it was cheaper. I decided on the Netgear. Activation was simple, I just call customer service and told them I had my own modem and would like it activated. You can also do it online, but I wanted to make sure everything was handled correctly.

If you have a modem 2 years old or more its time to get a new one. I installed and did the setup and my internet speeds are 5 times faster.

So far this device is the best I've owned. It works great with my Luma routers and is definitely an easy setup. Since setup, I haven't experienced ant problems and is able to handle the multiple WIFI devices in the house without any bottle necking or slowness in internet connection. It was well worth the price. I highly recommend for anyone who needs a modem that can handle multiple internet connected devices.

I only have 200mbps DOCSIS 3.0 service at my house, but got this modem to make sure I was ready to upgrade to 1gbps+ once the price comes down. The backward compatibility seems to be great and now I will be ready for faster speeds in the future. This modem is easy to mount sideways if you remove the screws off the base it easily detaches. I put some little rubber feet on it so air flows better and it has been running fine on it's side.

I recently needed to replace an older modem/router combo unit with a more modern solution, and after doing my research, decided that this Netgear router would fit the need and match nicely with my high-end Netgear Nighthawk AC4000 wireless access point. I have not been disappointed. This modem was easy to install and has performed well for me so far.

Our goal was to save money, purchase a modem that was compatible with our provider's service platform and had great coverage and speed. The folks at Best Buy recommended this product and I have absolutely no regrets. It was a home run for our needs!

After 3 years, it's okay... The first two years, the modem worked without a hiccup. This past year though, I've had to power cycle it at least once per month with the occasional "reset" button. Which after looking at Netgear forums, this is a known issue. If it wasn't a pricer model, I'd have more forgiveness.

Just bought this for my gf and myself a motorola mb 8600 gig modem. Set up comcast Xfinity gig bit pro service on both and the netgear cm 1000 is still going strong and active while my motorola is having issues. I think its a comcast issue moreso but needless to say the netgear worked at my place initially before i bought the motorola and is still working well at her place while my motorola is not. I think its worth the money u save especially if u catch it on sale for $150 or so. The only downside is it does not have telephone capabilities.. u may wanna wait for the telephone capability modems that are docsis 3.1...
