Future proofing Comcast Hi-Speed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I debate for a long time in the store and at home about which DOCSIS "modem" I should purchase. Yes, the Surfboard and others are good reliable standards but they only support DOCSIS 3.0, which is current but not future proof. I went ahead and purchased the NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.1 in a vain attempt to future proof for when Comcast rolls to the new standard. Overall, it currently has the same performance as a traditional DOCSIS 3.0 because it is backwards compatible. However, when Comcast does rollout the upgrade to my area I will be ready. I consistently register 240 Mbps / 12 Mbps speeds, which is AWESOME!

Once you get it to work, it causes no problems. So far, it seems to work fine. I have not tested it to its full power, so I cannot speak of how well it matches specs. So far my connectivity problems have been due to Comcast or my router.
