I've had this for about a month. It has kept connection and has not required rebooting. I'm on the 150mb plan and consistently get speeds of 170. This modem is very expensive but seems to work reliably. One important note.... according to the Comcast representative I spoke to, in order to upgrade the gigabit service you must rent a Comcast modem. He stated that the system would not even let him put in the order for gigabit service unless their rented modem was on the order. He said it was required for "compatibility" reasons. That is very, very disappointing. Point is at least for now I would not recommend buying this if the objective is to subscribe to gigabit service... you definitely want to check with your ISP first

A great, high-throughput cable modem, capable of 1G speeds. Almost too easy to set up. Reliable! And very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Approved for use with Xfinity COMCAST.

I replaced my Rental Cable Modem with this Netgear modem and so far it has exceeded my expectations. It has been very reliable, excellent speed and has connected more easily to my home smart home (IOT) devices. It also allows me time view the health of all my devices and can diagnose or administrate changes. I did quite a bit of research and this came out as one of the best models for the money and I very happy with it so far. I also like owning a modem rather that renting it forever from the cable company.

Decided to cut the cable TV strings and go the streaming route, but still had to pay for internet. I did not want to pay the monthly rental fee to the cable company and after reading all the reviews went with this NetGear modem and the Nighthawk router. Could not be happier with my purchases. I handles streaming and multiple devices with no problem. Set-up was very easy, speed has been excellent, and we no longer have any lag with out streaming, which we were having a real problem with on the direct cable hook-up. Significant improvement all round and no monthly rental fee.

Purchased this to replace an older modem that is now subject to a massive class action lawsuit because they didn't work properly. Works great and the 3.1 DOCSIS means I haven't had any problems with staying connected. Super fast download and upload speeds, and looks good on the computer desk.

Speeds on Comcast better than what I pay for

I'm running Comcast and paying for speed of 250. This cable modem consistently pumping out speeds over 300 / 12 for past week. Had Comcast modem/router combo was "tuned" by Comcast tech 2 years ago. While speeds good, never could regularly get speeds over 200. Cable modem connected to Netgear Nighthawk AC5000 with Cat 6 cables. All devices (4 laptops, 4 Iphones, Desktop, Sony Streaming device, WD My Cloud Home (NAS), Yamaha AV receiver, HP printers, Projector, etc.) seem to work better. Amazon video, Netflix, and Hulu work without any issues. Speed on streaming video services seems to be capped about 24 on their end. Previously I had minor issues with speeds but not with this modem. Comcast was able to activate by just logging into their website. Printed instructions poor to fair. But once I was on the Comcast site, their system recognized my modem and service was quickly working. Previously used Cisco / Linksys and Comcast cable modems over the years. Very happy with this cable modem compared to others. Only complaint is the power cord plug. Like most equipment the connector so big it covers up multiple outlet sites. Will be purchasing another for child at college who is on Spectrum / Time Warner.

Excellent Modem Mine is actually the DOCSIS 3.1 CM1000. This modem was easy to set up. A quick call to my cable provider and within 5 minutes it was done. It pairs seamlessly with my Netgear Nighthawk AX8 Wireless Router. I replaced my old 32X8 Netgear Nighthawk Wireless Router first and then a month later I added this modem to replace a 32X8 Arris and the difference was immediately noticeable>

Fast. It was quick to set up. Essentially plug and play. In my case I had a netgear router already set up and I was simply replacing an older DOCSIS 3.0 router with the new 3.1 router. I simply plugged it in, called Spectrum from the supplied contact numbers in the packaging, spoke to the tech, wait 30 sec and started downloading at 940 Mps. No drop times, consistent speeds, stays cool. Definitely recommend to friends and family.

About 10 years ago I switched to NETGEAR for all my switches and routers. This year, because I have more people accessing the internet at my house I needed something that could handle COX GIGABIT speed. Researched online and found this unit meet our families needs. Works great for streaming movies at the same time at my kids are playing games. Have not had it drop once. I have it paired with an ORBI with a satellite and it's outstanding.

Easy setup, works great. Replaced an Arris Surfboard that didn't make it a year, and they don't follow through on their warranty-- Netgear actually has human beings to help after the sale.

I had purchased this to replace an S33v2 Arris Surf Board that stopped working after just barely over a year of use. This is by far a superior modem brining in speeds that are even better than the Arris when that was working. The set up was easy (I use Xfinity) and it connected quickly with my service after it was registered. Highly recommended!!

Very easy to setup. This item is as fast as your IP can send you. Works perfect with my Netgear 8000 AC router. They match speed for speed. The only time consuming is for you to contact your Internet provider to setup your MAC address and serial number. Then your good to go. My speed for a 200Mb line was an average of 250Mb/sec.

Had a Motorola 2 in one modem/router for 2 years. It kept on connecting and disconnecting since day one. It got so bad, that I couldn't do anything online anymore. I threw it in the trash where it belonged, and got this separate modem and wifi router by Netgear. It does wonders and never disconnects. My 14 year old son loves it for gaming. With the Motorola, he couldn't game anymore. I would like to thank Netgear for making good reliable products.

Good, except no MAC address cloning

This modem doesn’t have the ability to clone the MAC address of another modem, meaning if you’re replacing a modem you will have to contact your ISP to finish setting up the modem. Other than that, the modem was essentially plug-and-play, needing only to be hooked up. It’s only been a few weeks since it was installed, but it works as advertised. Hopefully it can outlast the modem it replaced, which—while old enough that my ISP is dropping support—has been working for over a decade. I chose this unit over the successor to my old modem (the Arris, née Motorola, SURFboard) because it was slightly less expensive, but after purchase found out some of the current SURFboards had defects. It’s by no means the cheapest option, but saving a few dollars by choosing the NETGEAR for a DOCSIS 3.2 modem may have inadvertently saved me from an equipment failure. Easy to set up, sturdy construction, and not being a glaring white eyesore (like the Arris SURFboard) make up for the lack of MAC address cloning, but it remains one of the costlier options. If you are not using the full capabilities of DOCSIS 3.2, it may be worth looking for a less expensive option. But if you don’t want to be extorted by your ISP’s equipment lease or may upgrade service later, this modem is one of the best options available.

Purchased the NETGEAR - 32 X 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem as a prelude to cutting the cord. This modem exceeds the requirements needed for the 300 Mb plan available in my area from Cox, while providing the capacity for upgrade should additional service be offered in the future. Speed tests are consistently pulling 360-390 Mbps download with 27-31 Mbps upload on the 300 Mb plan Cox offers. Streaming and gaming presents no issues with multiple devices utilizing the internet at the same time. For us, this is a definite improvement over the modem Cox provided. Testing before the swap showed similar speed tests, but displayed multiple instances of buffering and FPS drops while gaming if multiple devices were operating at the same time. Setup was a breeze with easy to follow instructions. Activation through Cox did require duplication of the Power On functions for the Modem and Router. I would suggest calling them for activation once you have gathered the necessary information from the Modem (Part Number, Serial Number, etc.) and have made the appropriate connections. Required information is well documented in the instructions. We are 3 months in with this purchase and are happy we made it.
