Customers are saying

Customers regard the Nighthawk EAX80 AX6000 WiFi extender as having excellent range and ease of use, with many praising its simple setup and ability to extend WiFi 6 networks. However, some users experienced connection issues and inconsistent performance, leading to negative feedback. The accompanying app also received criticism for its functionality. While many found the extender improved their WiFi coverage, concerns were raised about the value for the price.

I try not to write too many reviews but I can make exceptions for products like these. I looked to expand my RAX80s range into my house. In summary: Stay away, it's really broken. Pros: -Looks like a menacing tower -Relatively easy for "plug n play" via the phone software Cons (with the default firmware): -For non-power users; the software doesn't detect there's an update available. It gives you the "you have the newest update" when you try to run it. Instead, you are required to manually download it and upload it thru the GUI. -You are capped at a maximum download speed of 280Mbps(my download speed is 1000mbps as measured by my RAX80) -You cannot connect via Wifi 6 (AX), instead, you will connect via wifi N (THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THIS THING!) -If any part of the phone pairing steps fail or doesn't complete 100%, you cannot connect to your network (password corrupts) Cons (with the updated firmware): -Max speed is bumped to 400Mbps, far away from max potential. -Still unsure if I can connect to Wifi 6, the GUI doesn't have an option to enable or disable AX as the router does. -No way to change the channel vs your routers channel. This one I DONT understand, overlapping channels creates a huge issue for your network, the 5Ghz network channel is greyed out to be the same as your router, even if you have different SSIDs. -If the router and extender carry the same SSID, It won't connect to the extender even though it has the stronger signal strength (75% vs 95%) -Intermittent packet loss happens every 3rd minute or so. All packets drop for about 5-10 seconds. It's devastating for FPS gaming.

I have a Netgear Rax120 and this device was problematic and intermittent on data speeds when extending your network. I read the notes, blogs, and other sources with no luck in have a solid performance with this pricey extender. Would not recommend to friends unless Netgear takes ownership and resolves the intermittent connectivity concerns.

This item fit my needs perfectly. My office had spotty wifi reception from the Nighthawk Router based on required location in the house. I was fortunate in that I was simply able to plug this in to a wall jack for the ethernet and get great new capability in the far side of the house. I recommend.

Great as wired access point. Note though you can’t do this from the Quick Start Leaflet. Need to download the User Manual and follow instructions for Access Point Mode.

    Improvement over X6S

Same user interface as the X6S but MUCH faster boot time. Can't take advantage of the higher speed connection but that's a limitation of my RAX80, not this extender. Seems to do a better job at maintaining LAN connections. The X6S would sometimes drop LAN connections for no reason. Plus it looks a lot cooler :)

Crap. Just pure crap. Setup was nothing like the manual, the device appears to just drop randomly from the network. I have 5 of these that I've purchased and STILL there are dead spots around my house where devices just disconnect (even just within feet of the extender). Netgear is a horrible company. You have to pay extra for support (because they know their devices are terrible). The app is horrible too, it doesn't always reflect everything that's connected and there are myriad passwords some of which are requested every time and others that appear to be bypassed occasionally. It's a nightmare product.

Not Reliable - FAIL working with the AX11000?

I bought this because I have 60-70 connected devices in my home. I have the beastly Nighthawk AX11000 but wanted to extend and strengthen the signal into my Master bedroom. The 2.5Ghz band worked pretty well but the 5Ghz band on this is a massive FAIL. I had this right next to my laptop and it was connected to the AX11000 with 40 mbps in the 5GHz band and the 2.4Ghz band was showing connected at 400mbps?? My laptop was connected to the same AX11000 5Ghz band at 200mbps down... When I connected the laptop to the 5Ghz band broadcast by this AX6000 I would only get 5-9 mbps download. Using my Note10 this was also confirmed (actually speedtest app would even work). I returned this. I am now working on configuring the AX1800 and again the 5Ghz band is having issues and not connecting. If it fails as well I will review it as well.

Thought I'd try out Best Buy's most expensive WiFi extender. It does the job in establishing a stable connection in other parts of the house but doesn't really seem to make the internet faster or increase the MB. I returned it an decided to get a cheaper and faster powerline adaptor.
