Easy to set up. Was looking for similar products but nothing compared.

I am part of the Net Gear Friends and Family Program and I received this new Net Gear Extender this week to test. Results: Set Up: Fairly straight forward. Their directions are good and thorough so it should be easy for most anyone to follow. I had no issues getting my new model to work. I would suggest removing any other extender you might have because they share the router names. Speed: After set up I performed several speed tests from different locations. I typically have trouble getting range in my garage so I tested their first and was able to finally achieve a decent download speed : 28.89 and an upload of 9.72. Before, with my older extender I wasn't able to get more than 8 Mbps so it's a pretty substantial improvement. Inside the house I'm getting 100+ from most locations and before I could get 100 download near my old extender but certainly nowhere near even 50 if I was on the far end of the house. Product itself: Some may not like this but I prefer it 100% over the alternative, the power plug is attached to the unit on this device. You don't need a separate power cord and a place to set the unit on. Like a Carbon M detector this unit plugs directly into the wall. Nicely hidden behind a dog Kennel. Rating: I give Net Gear a 5 for this extender. No doubt a big improvement over my previous unit.

I purchased this Netgear Nighthawk range extender to use with the Netgear Arlo cameras and base station on a metal pole-barn at the back of my property. Initially, I was going to plug this in about 112 feet from my WiFi router. But, then I would have had to construct a box to protect the range extender and Arlo base station from the elements. So, I took the range extender into my pole-barn and plugged it in there and plugged the Arlo base station into the ethernet port on the bottom of the extender. I was absolutely AMAZED that I was getting a WiFi signal!!! Not only is my pole-barn about 400 feet from the router, there are also numerous trees between the pole-barn and router (which is inside my house). Plus the extender is about another 8 feet inside the pole-barn! The WiFi signal light on the extender is amber (which means it's weaker) but, I am shocked that it is working beyond expectations! I believe it states that the normal range is 300+ feet. Well, here's proof it works 400+ feet! And, with my Arlo base station right inside the barn, the cameras are close enough to it, that it doesn't drain their batteries. The camera on the back of my pole barn is approximately 445 feet from the router and works just fine!!! I also have another Arlo base station in my house to work with the other 3 cameras around my house. *Note - If you are buying a range extender for your Arlo cameras, you'll need one that has an ethernet port on it. You have to plug the Arlo base station into that ethernet port. The Arlo base station receives the camera transmissions on it's own, independent signal. So, boosting a WiFi signal from your router will NOT help the signal between the Arlo cameras and base station.

There was an error and setup failed. I tried to connect to it and it worked great. If you get the error it still may work. Great range, it is the best Wi-Fi range that I have ever had. I put it in the well house (100') half between the house and the barn (200'). I have full signal strength in the barn and it has great range in the open areas of the ranch, it must cover 8 to 10 acres.

Its good, but its not like earth shattering great. We have still had issues with it.

We were struggling with our Wi-Fi network. Our connected devices kept growing and we were not able to get perfect reception in our upstairs bedrooms since our router is in our basement, two floors down. We setup the extender, which paired nicely with our Netgear router and then plugged it in on our main floor. Our Wi-Fi availability is now much stronger throughout the house.

We live in a 2900 Sq Ft ranch with a partial basement. The staff at Best Buy tried to upsell me and convince me to buy a whole home wifi system for $450. They said these get returned all the time and are not worth the money. DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU, THIS WORKS GREAT!!!! Our modem/router is located directly in the middle of the house. We used to have no wifi signal in the basement and spotty coverage in the master. Now with the Nighthawk X4 we have great signal in the master and great signal in the basement. We do not have cable and we stream everything through Amazon Prime and Netflix. Our service is better now then ever. Easy setup and it automatically marks the wifi name you already have.

Excellent plug and play WiFi extender straight out of the box. Simple set up and outstanding WiFi extension results indoors and outside.

We have fiber optic internet and the router has to be located where it enters the house - which is at an extreme far corner in the basement. This results in WiFi dead spots on the upper levels at the opposite end. This device completely solved the problem. After a couple minutes reading the brief instructions, I had it setup and automatically connected to my router. I don't think that it could have been easier. Now we have full signal WiFi in areas where there was none before. Surprisingly, the sales clerk that helped me at the store tried to talk me out of buying one telling me he didn't think it would work. I'm glad I thought otherwise.

I had been using a different brand's extender for three years, and got exasperated with it, due to the difficulty of resetting it after power outages. I went to my local BB, and the sales associate recommended this unit. I am very pleased with it. It is easy to set up, and has excellent signal strength throughout my house. It is also very unobtrusive, since it plugs into a wall outlet - no cables or separate power supply. I advise users to be careful to go all the way through the setup routine - I missed the last step (entering a new password) and had to start over.

The instructions are a little vague but managed to fumble my way through the setup. Once I got through the setup, it worked great. Maintained a constant signal where I need it. Recommend You-Tubing it before setting up yourself. Some good/informative videos out there on this device.

This product worked flawlessly. The setup was very easy. I was a little apprehensive because I was connecting it to my Apple Airport Extreme router and I didn't know if the 2 differing products would be able to communicate but there was no problem. At the spot where I installed the extender, I was previously getting 68 Mbps throughput. After I moved 20 feet further and installing the extender, I was getting 71 Mbps throughput. Even better throughput from a greater distance, you can't beat that. I did all my testing using the Speedtest app.

i purchased this item due to my need for coverage of wifi on my first floor level of my home, i was having trouble reaching the for corners of my main level and back deck, but once we got this plugged in and set up on the pretty good outlet we had wifi wherever we needed it, plus even in some areas that i didn't expect it to reach outside of the house.

I have a Linksys EA9200 Router which is a excellent Router, but my WiFi signal dose reach the far corner of the 3Rd floor. I purchased a NETGEAR Nighthawk X4 AC2200 WiFi Range Extender and now the complete house is covered with fast speed and no drop off's. I would highly recommend theNETGEAR Nighthawk X4 AC2200 WiFi Range Extender.

I have a metal garage about 200' from my home. I previously tried running a second router and an underground ethernet cord but was plagued with issues. Plugged this in an area where I got minimal wifi and now my entire garage has 5g. Magic.

Didn’t realize what I was missing until it was in. Main router is in the basement and now we can get internet still 2 houses down from ours.

I bought the extender to bring WiFi to my basement. It works well with the smart appliance located there.

Bought this to replace a nighthawk Triband extender that somehow bricked my nighthawk router while connecting in WPS. DO NOT USE WPS FEATURE WITH NETGEAR PRODUCTS. Setup was done through mywifiext and so far I’m able to stream 4K content though an APPLETV using Amazon Prime app without issue. It seems to be working in areas that needed the coverage as well.

Since using the extender most of our portable devices are working better and receiving better signals.
