    Great combo

What a idea so far. Lets see, the setup was a little messy, took about 30 to 40 min in total with setting up the nodes and hooking them up, downloading the Orbi app and you know the rest. FIRST OFF, let me say that the WIRED BACKHAUL DOES WORK. It is currently working right now after the latest firmware update (as of 10/25/2019). The connection is extremely steady, I live in a 3500 sq ft house with a basement, first floor and a second floor, so, three floors in total. I have my main node (router) in the basement (my man cave) and the second one is in the hallway of the first floor (satellite) that is in a central location. I have a wired connection between them both. I have a 600mb down plan through COMCAST/XFINITY and with a few phones, tablets, TVs, Desktop running and other things, I still am pulling 600 to 700mb down all through the house. I like it so far. Hopefully, it stays this way. I also like the look of the sleekness of these nodes vs the ones before. However, there is not a USB connection on the back of any node, which leaves a sour taste in the mouth, especially, that the previous ORBI had it. I will see how it goes in the next few months and try my best to update this review. Hopefully, Netgear does right with the updates. This is 700$ and not a cheap offering by any means so the expectation is high.

    Simple and fast

I am really pleased with how quick and easy the Orbi mesh network was to setup. Within about 10 minutes per node I was up and running. I did some customization afterwards and found the functionality of the menus to be a lot better than the linksys velop mesh network I was replacing. I also had recently switched from a 300mb internet connection to a 1Gb and between testing a linksys standalone router, the velop mesh, and the Orbi network, I was getting greater speeds with the Orbi. On top of that, the bonus of the security software is excellent, Definitely recommend the Orbi!

    Wifi everywhere now.

My older wifi router and satellites were adequate for most of our needs but had some brief slowdowns with heavy use. I also needed a strong signal in the front and side of my house for automotive work and some additional streaming. These units gave us everything we needed: I can stay in my network in the driveway when I am doing vehicle service and upgrades. I saved a lot of reset time by setting the system to my existing login and password, no need to change access for every unit.

I tried a different mesh wifi system and it was unstable and slow, but the NETGEAR Orbi so far has been very fast and reliable.

    Big Old Plaster House

We have had Internet issues since we moved into our Queen Anne Victorian built in 1895. We initially had a “commercial” Unifi system installed and still suffered from low speeds (30-50 Mpbs) close to our router and almost no signal on the third floor. Installed our new NetGear Orbi Whole Home Mesh WiFi System last week and now our speeds throughout the house are over 500 Mpbs. FINALLY. The right answer. No more spooling and no more dead spots. None! Excellent install experience from the Best Buy Geek Squad!

Great Range and Easy Set up

These are amazing. Are they expensive? Yes but Netgear never disappoints. Easy to use GUI to set these up and if you are changing from a previous netgear router, you can use the same network name and password and MOST of your devices will just reconnect (I had to reset the garage door opener and our thermostat only out of at least 15 devices). Great range. We had pockets in our home that we previously had dead spots- not any longer.

    With A Little Tweaking....

The Orbi system is awesome! That said, and your mileage may vary, but you may have to make some configuration settings changes and/or upgrade some of your existing hardware to get the full spectrum of benefits that come with WiFi 6. That said, mesh home networking is awesome, and you can get full throughput via WiFi anywhere in the house, as opposed to dealing with signal attenuation and slower speeds with a normal WiFi router set-up. Definitely a unique architecture, but well worth the implementation costs!

300 % improvement in speed test compared to my older mesh system. My office is in the garage while the modem was in my living room on another floor on the other side of the house. The Orbi system was easy to hook up. I also like Netgear for providing a DDNS service built in

    Works for me

I have read some comments with people having issues with this product. I can see why. Out of the box setup was not as easy as I thought it would be but being in IT I was able to get around the initial setup issues I had and they mostly were just reboot the Orbi Router Module or manually connect to Wifi to continue on with the setup. Once setup I have had no issues with the Ethernet backhaul or performance. Time will tell on this however. I have used most of the "flagship" mesh systems and honestly most of them have issues in one form or another. I have found that if you want seamless mess then you will need to step up to the business grade equipment like Meraki or Ubiquity (both of which I have had as well). For most people these consumer mesh systems will work but like I said you may run into issues from time to time.

    Good so far

I've read other reviews here's mine..I opened box..download app unhooked orbi and satellite..hooked up new orbi and satellite..ran thru app in less then 15min and good to go..so far I'm getting same speeds and download as old orbi but my phone..iPad and computer on wifi are clearly faster..my tv on wifi loads with no buffering like before and all devices show articles and videos with less or no lag like the old orbi..I'm not saying the old one was slow and this new one is way better I just mean its clearly faster..is it worth the upgrade that would depend on ur needs..A 2 to 3 seconds wait on the old one or a .5 second wait on the new one..I think it's great but I'll use it for 29 days and make my decision on whether if the 700 dollars is worth the tiny bit faster speed..now if wifi 6 was available I'd hold on to it..

    Finally fixed my deadspot!

I’ve had a deadspot in my house ever since wifi was invented—right behind my refrigerator and microwave. I’ve tried power line extenders woody extenders and anything else I could think of to no avail. With this though? ~800 Mbps!! Smoking fast with no disconnects. Expensive, but in this new world of video conferencing with every cent!! I do wish that there was some way to see which connected device was using how much bandwidth at a given point in time though.

Faster than my previous orbi set but somehow still not as fast as Comcast Equipment. Wish Best Buy had dedicated Wifi Experts. Geek Squad isn’t technical enough.

This mesh system operates flawlessly, ensuring a worthwhile investment. Previously, my home had several areas with weak or spotty WiFi coverage. Thanks to this new system, those issues are a thing of the past. It's the only system I've come across that can deliver my FiOS gig speeds over WiFi without the need to install MoCA or Cat6 wiring throughout the house.

Orbi Mesh - Worth every penny

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I first heard about the Orbi Mesh I was reluctant to believe the hype. However, the more and more searching I did, the more outstanding reviews I saw. So I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a $700 mesh router system; the Orbi Tri-band Mesh WiFi6 System. What an incredible difference! For years we have had a major's carrier's 1GB fiber optic system, but router after router failed to achieve Wi-Fi numbers more than about 150mbps on the up and downloads. Enter Orbi. Setup was simple and easy and I had my system set up in 15-20 minutes and another 30-40 minutes spent resetting all my Wi-Fi devices. Since the setup (which was mid August of 2020) our Wi-Fi numbers are average about 800mbps on both up and downloads (higher during the day). It's incredibly fast, incredibly stable and constant without drops or issues. So to say the least, my wife and I are in love with this product. We also have to agree with many of the reviewers when we state how 'overly' impressed we are by a product. It handles our traffic without a hiccup and the speeds are just mind blowing. We never have any buffering issues anymore with Apple TV, Netflix, Xbox, surfing the web or any other internet based activity. At current we have 19 devices connected and all get the same level of access, speed and reliable connections. We are sold. Its great for my business, for our home entertainment; especially when we are all hunkered down during the current pandemic. 6 stars if it were available to give!!!

    Finally, Whole Home WiFi

If you’re looking for a system that’s easy to set up, fast, and secure look no further. Is it on the higher end price-wise? Yeah. But it’s worth every penny since my wife and I both work from home and are in Zoom meetings all day long. I can also game with ease while she streams, and we have flawless signal all throughout our three story house. Love this system.

Needed to upgrade from outdated Apple time capsule/router with extenders to something more robust and able to handle the traffic from two working parents and two teenage kids. Netgear ORBI is amazingly powerful! Setup was literally 5 minutes. And the app is easy to use. Anyone thinking of upgrading their home network should go with Netgear!
