  • Network
    • Band Technology: Tri (Refers to the number of frequency bands used to wirelessly transmit an internet signal. For example, dual-band devices may use one 2.4 and one 5 GHz band, while tri-band devices may use one 2.4 and two 5 GHz bands. Multiple bands also provide more flexibility for designating connected devices to specific band use.)
    • Ethernet Standard: 10/100/1000 (Each standard is a variation of the IEEE 802.3 set of computer networking technologies known as Ethernet. New versions evolved to include higher bandwidth, different physical media, and other new and improved features. Standards are often denoted by speeds (in Megabits per second). For example, a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port transmits at 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps).)
    • Number of Antennas: 8
    • Frequency Band: 2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz (Bands may be grouped into categories such as low- and high-band VHF (Very High Frequency), low- and high-band UHF (Ultra High Frequency), or certain frequency channels (measured in MHz or GHz). Generally, higher frequencies transmit information faster but have shorter range than lower frequencies.)
    • Wireless Networking Standard: Wi-Fi 6 (The wireless networking standard used by the device. Each iteration of the standard developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance corresponds to an existing IEEE 802.11 protocol; for example, standard 802.11ac (or AC) is termed Wi-Fi 5. Refers specifically to the standard the device is designed to use, but ultimately determines product interoperability and backward compatibility including previous versions.)
    • Wireless Standard: AC, AX, N (The wireless networking protocol used by the device. Each iteration of the protocol is based on the 802.11 standard developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standards Association. Denoted by letters following 802.11 (802.11a, 802.11ac, etc.), each version, published in alphabetical order, encompasses all previous versions.)
    • Wi-Fi Range: 7500 square feet (The device will provide a Wi-Fi connection to this approximate area.)
    • Input/Output Technology: MU-MIMO (Multi-user Multiple-Input Multiple Output) (Generally, multiple-input multiple-output communication technologies allow for more signals to be transmitted at a single time, which can improve the device's overall performance.)
    • Number of 2.4Ghz Streams: 1 (A router's streams are like lanes on a highway. The more streams a router has, the less traffic congestion. Because the 2.4 GHz band is used to transmit wireless signals to a wide variety of devices, there is often high amounts of traffic on that stream. But with multiple streams, each can be designated to a specific device for optimal performance. For example, if one 2.4 GHz stream is assigned to one device, such as a desktop computer, it leaves the remaining streams open for guest users, devices that use more data, or devices with specific band compatibility.)
    • Number of 5.0Ghz Streams: 2 (A router's streams are like lanes on a highway. The more streams a router has, the less traffic congestion. The 5.0 GHz band provides high speed, short-range data transmission and typically has less traffic than the 2.4 GHz band. With multiple streams, each can be designated to a specific device for optimal performance. For example, if one 5.0 GHz stream is assigned to one device, such as a streaming media player, it leaves the remaining streams open for guest users, devices that need less data, or devices with specific band compatibility.)
    • Wi-Fi Mesh System: true (A single wireless network consisting of a main router (connected directly to a modem) that connects to a series of satellite modules or nodes placed around the home. Routers with this capability promote stronger, faster wireless signals as well as increase Wi-Fi coverage by reducing interference and eliminating dead zones.)
    • Number of Wi-Fi Satellites Included: 3 (Quantity of Wi-Fi satellite modules/nodes for a Wi-Fi Mesh System that come with the product.)
    • Number of Wi-Fi Satellites Supported: 10 (Maximum quantity of Wi-Fi satellite modules/nodes that are able to be connected to the main router in a Wi-Fi Mesh System.)

Q: What is the difference between the Ax6000 and the AX4200 WiFi 6 mesh system

A: Sorry this will be kinda long but im giving you everything I researched when I bought the AX6000 The difference is the ability to future proof your home with the AX6000 as it can attain gigabit internet speeds(if your internet service provider(ISP) offers that). For the AX6000 you can get (1000 Mbs 2.4 GHz + 2400 Mbs 5 GHz) compared to (600 Mbs 2.4 GHz + 1200 Mbs 5 GHz) Also the you number of ethernet connections you get with the AX6000 is higher by like 3 more ports 1 extra on the router and 2 more on the satellites. Check your current ISP package if they offer gigabit internet (realistically its 940 mb/s) you’ll want to use what you’re paying for and if you have alot of people in your household go with the AX 6000 because your speed will suffer if you are all on at one time. If you dont have Gigabit internet with your ISP save the $200+ (i say ‘+‘ because usually you will have to upgrade your modem to a docsis 3.1 to get gigabit internet) and get the AX4200 Lastly If you dont have alot of people in your house and you are just looking to just eliminate dead zones in your house maybe even look up nighthawk mesh system(I believe its less than $200). Its the cheapest wifi 6 mesh system it doesnt provide the fastest speeds but will get you better mire reliable connection throughout since its a mesh.

Q: Is any of these 3 units a cable modem? Ideally, I’d like to use a router/modem + 2 satellites to cover a long ranch house + detached garage.

A: No, none of the units are a cable modem. BUT there are good reason to be thankful. Orbi has sold units in the past that included the cable bridge in to their router. This limits your flexibility and if you choose to change providers in the future, say to Fibre Optic, you would have to pitch the system and re-buy. So by not having the cable modem integrated, you are future proofing your purchase. NOW to solve your ranch issue, buy the Orbi, ditch your cable modem and purchase a Surfboard Cable modem WITHOUT wireless. That will ONLY convert from Cable/Coax to ethernet that you then plug into your Orbi. The cable modem pays for itself in a year or less because you do not have to rent one from your provider. -Best Wishes

Q: Anybody that has these, did any of you guys set this up with a WIRED backhaul vs wireless?

A: wired backhaul does work great. Wifi Backhaul has also had no issues

Q: My home is 2 stories and 1930 sq ft. This Orbi says it covers 7500 sq ft. Any benefit to having the extra (faster, better, etc.), or total overkill? They also sell these in a 2 pack at $300 less, so if no extra benefit, is that a better option?

A: Probably overkill. My house is about 4500 sq ft. with three levels and I have the 3-pk. I have one for each level. Router in basement and then the two satellites on the two upper levels. Save the money, because it should cover you fine with 2-pk. You will have more versatility with a 3-pk depending on where you'd like to place the units, but other than that I don't see any reason to spend more money. So, if you need that second satellite for the versatility of placement then go for it.

Q: How many square feet cover - Orbi AX6000?

A: We own a 3,000 SF two story home and the speed is consistent with no issues whatsoever. Hope that helps!

Q: When will you be able to buy an additional satellite extender for the Netgear Orbi WiFi 6 System AX6000 (RBK852)

A: Netgear put out a video recently about their new products and mentioned that the additional satellites will be available in a few weeks. So, I would imagine sometime around the February timeframe next year.

Q: What modem would work best with the AX6000 system?

A: You will want a modem that is Docsis 3.1 certified to handle faster speeds. I would probably go with the Netgear CM1100 or the CM1200 which would be more than enough to handle the new orbi 6.
