    Netgear - never, ever again!

    I Bought the AX600 router (RBR850) and two satellites (RBS850) in April of 2020 for $1,000. Today I actually (and happily) threw them in the garbage can and bid them a farewell. Over the last 1.5 years, they have proven to be at times blistering fast but typically ridden with problems at every firmware update. (From the disabling of the Speedtest within the app, to constant need for rebooting, to lack of connection within the app, to degradation of signal). But the latest firmware update permanently disabled the “ac” and “ax” protocols, so both wifi 5 and wifi 6 are gone! All that’s left is b, g, n, a. In other words I’ve gone from wifi speeds of 750 Mbps to 10 Mbps even standing directly in front of the router. (Direct Ethernet is still close to 1 gbps). The identical thing happened to a work colleague who also has the same orbi setup. I finally paid the $90 for netgear phone support. (Yes you only get the first 90 days of tech support for free; it’s expensive after that). My first call I waited online for 5.5 hours and finally hung up and went to bed. The next morning I called and after 1 hour finally got a person (who I could barely understand due to an awful long distance connection, their poor headset microphone and a very heavy accent). The resolution was to load the prior version of the firmware; which I did). This did NOT fix the problem! Tech support claimed they have no record of this type of problem with others. (Probably because you can’t reach tech support). So after a year filled with endless quirky disconnects, I have permanently “disconnected” from NetGear- never to go back ever again.

    Do Not Waste Your Money!

    I just bought the Orbi AX6000 RBK8252 router/satellite to replace my previous Orbi router/satellite hoping to improve wifi speeds on some of my devices and clear up some weak signals in my house. I read online where people had internet connection problems with some wifi devices and it seemed a firmware update caused the issue. Before I bought this I went on the Netgear website and checked what the community reported when a new firmware version was released recently to fix that problem. Everyone seemed to agree it was finally fixed, so I took the plunge. BIG MISTAKE! I downloaded the newest firmware before using it and initially things were ok. Then my kids reported no internet connections even though they were connected to the router. I tried numerous resets and reboots on their devices which temporarily fixed the issue. But, today I had even more problems and decided that I am going to return this to BB and get something else. Netgear is using us to beta test their hardware and firmware and Im not doing that for something I paid $700 for. Steer clear of Netgear.

    Horrible system. I been in the phone wit Netgear several times. Some of the devices drop without any reason. The wifi is unstable and it doesn’t cover the area suggested

    Awful!! Horrible Ping and major lag even when headlined to router. Expensive trash IMO.

    worst router ever is the 2nd one!!

    not too much to say that angry, this is my second one and i am going to try my last one if my third does not work I will move to Asus, shame not technical support for this device, first one the satellite does not connect, this second was ok until the updated I can not connect to the internet, shame, shame, shame, worse mesh ever basically orbi is stealing my money. I will update later after the 3er and the last one.

    I am taking it back :( Ater 5h ON with Netgear support over 2 days still cannot connect to internet and they didn't know what to do Don't buy! I did even after I see all the bad reviews and now have to take it back What a waste of time
