Exceptional Range, Coverage and Stability
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 3-pack mesh system replaces a Netgear Nighthawk X8 Model R8500 AC 5300 Tri-Band router and Netgear EX6200 AC1200 range extender. When I bought that setup I was led to believe it should be nearly "future proof". It never worked properly with my printer, range was worse than the router previously supplied by the cable company, and did not get signal in portions of my 2200 sq-ft home (with virtually nothing outdoors). The Nighthawk X8 randomly dropped devices and I frequently (every other week) had to cycle power to reset and get it working again. Now that nightmare is all in the past! Once I set-up the Orbi AC2200 Base with 2 Satellites I am completely ecstatic over every aspect of the Wi-Fi performance in and around my home! My printer works 100% of the time without ever going offline. I personally found the setup to be straight forward (and I am no IT expert). I have 3 TV's, 4-6 Cell Phones, Garage Door Opener, Thermostat, Arlo Cameras, Sonos speakers, smart lights and plugs, Echos and up to 4 laptops all connected at any given time. The signal could not be any stronger in every room of my home, garage and even outdoors. I was expecting to have to add a outdoor satellite unit to be able to get a signal out to my remote pole barn (150ft away) but was pleasantly surprised to find I have nearly a full strength signal all the way out there! Signal strength and speed is great everywhere. Before I purchased this I read some of the poor reviews (not that there are a lot of them) and had some skepticism but now that I have it up and running I personally find it to be an outstanding product and could not be more satisfied. Would not hesitate to recommend it.

Great product - when it works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked flawlessly the first week, but the past three weeks we are lucky if we can watch half a show before our Orbi drops our connection. We have to reset both modem and orbi, wait 5 minutes, then resume streaming. We have tried online support, but that has not been a good experience either. I’ve waited in their que three times, start talking to someone, then as I’m waiting for them to respond, I get a time out message and have to start all over. Extremely frustrated and wish I had not purchased this product. One thing if it were a 60 dollar router, but this was nearly 400. I expected so much more out of this.

Not as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit will not cover to receive internet properly through certain walls and square footage as described. However, our house is uniquely configured. Therefore, still texting the product for a typical floor plan home.

Over priced under achiever

Game changer for WiFI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this package about 4 days now. After 20 years of being an AT&T customer I have recently quit them entirely. After dropping the Directv (wireless boxes) service with constant buffering issues I decided to upgrade my internet service in my home and cut the cord. I will note that my ISP is with Cox Communications. I previously had the 300MB (Ultimate) service with Cox and their provided "Panoramic WiFi" which is a modem/router combo. They boast it is "wall to wall" coverage in your home. That isn't the case in my personal experience. I was doing good to get a 2 bar signal 40 feet in front of my unit. I never had more than 4-5 devices connected at any given moment simultaneously and without fail, I would have some sort of buffering or connectivity issue. I finally had enough. I did a lot of online research and narrowed it down to two possible options. The Eero Mesh System or Netgear Orbi Mesh System. I went to my local Best Buy where the manager Kathy has helped me many times before. She recommended the Orbi based off her personal installation and experience with this system in her new home. It was also on sale for a lot less for the same amount of units than the comparable Eero. I told her that I was purchasing a new modem, WiFi mesh system and upgrading to the Cox Gigablast package. I purchased the Netgear Orbi Whole Home WiFi System (RBK43) and paired it with the Netgear CM1000 Docsis 3.1 cable modem (fastest on the market today). When I got home, I called Cox to register the new modem after first checking their website for certified modems that work well with their gigablast service. After a quick 5 minute call to register the modem, I disconnected the old Panoramic modem/router and installed the new modem and waited for a refresh signal to make sure it was received and I was online. I confirmed I was online with the cox specialist and I unpacked the Orbi system. The package contained the main router and 2 satellite units all which look identical cosmetically. I downloaded the Netgear Orbi app and signed into my Netgear account and the app walked me through step by step with the installation which was beyond easy. Basically, if you can read and follow simple steps, you are good to go. I connected my main router to the modem and power source via the ethernet provided cable and then I placed my two satellite units in my home where I wanted to blanket my WiFi. Plug them in and proceed. For me, having a 2 story home, I placed 1 unit in my master bedroom and the 2nd unit I placed upstairs in a hall closet that is about center of the upstairs. The router is in my living room which is centrally located downstairs. Within a couple minutes of placing and plugging the satellite units, I was up and running and the router automatically recognized and connected to them. I created my network renaming the SSID and connected my devices without any issues. After I had connected most of my devices, I did numerous speed test both with the Speed Test app and the utility tool within the Orbi app. I was blown away with how much faster my speeds were. Secondly, I was surprised that I now had full bars of WiFi on my iPhone in every room of my home plus my garage and places outside my home within about 100 feet of my front door. This unit claims it can handle a 6000sq ft home but I cannot attest to that. I am consistently getting over 550mb down and around 40mb up just about anywhere I go within my home. Granted, I am not getting the 1000mb Cox aspires to provide, but I understand I am sharing the bandwidth with my neighbors etc. All in all, I have to give this system 5 stars because of the performance, ease of installation, and convenience of the app. Since I now no longer have cable, I am purely streaming and while streaming on two tv's, using multiple phones and tablets simultaneously, I have yet to run into any significant buffering issues. A couple times in the span of the 4 days I have had this unit during peak evening hours, I have had a slight 3 second buffering interruption about 2-3 times but certainly nothing to cause me pause or concern with my purchase. I highly recommend this set up if you are looking to extend your WiFi performance, reliability, and range within your home. Now I am waiting for the Gig fiber to be available in my area this year and I can't wait to try this system out on fiber! GREAT PRODUCT!!!!

Big Regret
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this thinking it covers 6000sq feet! that is such a lie. my house is 3500sq feet and i ended up having to buy another satellite to cover the house. it randomly decides on it own to stop working or talking to one of the three satellites. rebooting the whole system requires walking to each satellite as rebooting the base station does nothing for them . i pay for 200Mbps, if i am next to the router i get maybe 150, the farthest satellite from the base between 36-50Mbps. i would not recommend buying this product at any price.
