OK, but could be so much better
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it works, it works well. I have a 3-story 3000 sq. ft. house w/ Cat 5e cabled throughout. My router connects to a FIOS fibre modem and the satellite is in the 3rd floor. The 2 are connected via Ethernet. Recently, the satellite has started having problems. Finally it died. Netgear support initially tried to charge me to support their hardware. After convincing them that a dead satellite should be considered a "hardware issue" covered by the 1-year warranty, they RMA'ed it. Waiting for the replacement now. Day-to-day usage is a mixed bag. The built-in parental controls are rudimentary to say the least. If you want actual access controls (scheduled access, grouping devices), you need to pay for Disney Circle v1 ($45/year). Setting up static leases isn't very intuitive. in fact the whole web interface is just clunky. I've tried to organize my network so I can easily find devices when I need to segment them off the network (I have teenagers). This is not easy as the list provided in the Orbi interface isn't alphabetical, and I can't search it (other than using Ctrl-F in my browser). Beyond this, the Orbi doesn't share device info with Disney Circle, so I have to replicate my efforts on both services. It doesn't help that Circle only has the app interface (no web interface). All told, the product just feels like it lacks polish from top to bottom.

Excellent System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Orbi system is phenomenal. Prior to its implementation, I had no service on my bottom floor, and I'd tried everything short of access points, until I stumbled on this mesh system accompanied by the Best Buy GSS plan. Absolutely superb, and functionally sound. Updates fix all bugs reported, and CS team is great.

Netgear Orbi - worst ever network purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll try to keep this concise. Needed a mesh network to span a small facility. I have a fair amount of experience with networks and was able to set up both wired and wireless access points (4 total) with ease. The problem was system stability. The Orbi system simply stopped responding frequently and required hard reboots to kick start it each time. I spent lots of time over 3 weeks trying to get it to work. Tech support only offered the standard factory reset and start over. Did that 2x. Returned the Orbi and bought Google WiFi (6 access points) which has been flawless for 6 weeks now. I really wanted the Orbi to work but it was a terrible product. Seemed to be a firmware issue that the factory did not have a fix for in the 3 weeks that I had the product.
