I know I am not this internet challenged!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you enjoy waiting over 30 minutes just to find out that once your connected it still isn't connected. I am better off with my p700 nighthawk router with no issues. Unless someone can come over and set it up, I do not know how I made a mistake. It shouldn't be this difficult to plug this up and get connected.

Looks Great - Works Perfectly
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's not a lot that needs to be said about this Wifi system. It looks great and the set-up was so simple, quick and easy that it didn't even feel like a set-up process at all. It was more like just turning it on! I had no problems at all - nada, zilch. I love that. The good looks are a bonus and the signal increased both the strength and the speed of my wifi connection compared to the previous router I had been using. I assume that's due to the newer tech - MU-MIMO and Tri-Band. The only possible downside is that it doesn't come cheap. At around $399 it's an investment. But, if you've got an active wifi home with lots of devices, it is worth it. Absolutely.

Great Wi-Fi system but horrible support
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been living with the Orbi AC3000 since 2017 (original purchase date). While it's the best Wi-Fi I've ever had, the support Netgear gives is so poor I question why they are in the business. The latest hiccup is the digital certificate used for securely signing in to the Orbi's web management. As Netgear let the certificate lapse on August 2, 2019 - it is not possible to security manage the Orbi. When I contacted their support - their rep had no idea what the issue is.

Great Performance, Bulky Size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The box is a little bulky for my taste, two big units same size: router and satellite. Powering it up is as straightforward as it could be, connect power supply to the router and press the power buttom on the bottom backside. Wait for light to establish and it will start broadcasting in less than 2 minutes first time boot. Connect to the ORBI08 network and open your internet browser, once redirected it will start the configuration setup of the router which is pretty simple. You have the option to use advance mode, you know don't use the setup and do it yourself if you have experience with routers. Router use same ssid to broadcast both frequenzy 2.4 and 5 Ghz no need to setup separate networks. so far streaming doesn't seem to be affected when changing from the router to the satellite station, performance is pretty neat I like the dressing style only downside i see is the size of both units i way too big for my taste.

Not as consistent as I expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a very expensive Router with a Satellite. I bought it because my internet has to pass down one fight of stairs and through one horse hair filled wall on the inside of the house to reach my laptop downstairs -- come to think of it I'm not even sure that makes sense. It is not working consistent on any level - email, streaming, etc. I have been meaning to bring it back to the store but I have bee sick - stay tuned. I could not even set a personal password for the satellite.

Speeds are great when it stays connected
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's the point in having fast download speeds if your devices don't stay connected. I had to reboot at least 3 times within the first week. Wifi calling on my wife's iPhone went from good to horrible once I installed the ORBI. The last straw was when I purchased a game online and tried to download via Xbox one X. I pay for 300mb and was barely getting a consistent 30mb and to add insult to injury I was hardwired at 11 pm on a Tuesday night. I switched to google nest wifi and all seems to be fine for now.

Unsure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think it works well if you really limited the distance to what it describes. My network comes in and out a lot and I'm not sure if it's the unit or just the orbi is too far from the modem.

Extremely Fast Router, Easy for Beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I just want to get a couple of things out of the way in terms of the practicality of the speed of the router itself. No you probably can't take full advantage of what this router is actually capable of overall, but the nice thing about that is that it gives you room to grow over time. This system is more of a complete in home system as opposed to just a extremely high end router that you can expand upon and I think I prefer it this way. Sure you can't really expand upon it down the road unless you need more coverage, but it does make for the experience out of the box much more seamless overall. In terms of the in box experience it is very polished and the setup process was clearly designed with beginners in mind. Most of the setup itself is actually plugging in the device. Make sure to keep the actual router and the "satellite" that it comes with labelled until you are ready to do the complete setup however. Once plugged in the only thing that needs to happen is run a cable to it and then connect a device to it wirelessly using the included instructions. It will then automatically detect the "satellite" and allow you to set a network name or SSID and a password for the router. WPS is also readily available on both the satellite and the router itself and they don't list as two separate routers, but as one universal device that the automatically distributes internet in the most efficient way possible. During my couple of days testing I did have a couple of drops in my connectivity once due to the router itself and a couple due to my modem acting up. Both the satellite and the router itself do offer USB connectivity for printers and external hard drives which is convenient. The design of the router and satellite are largely identical except for the labels on the bottom of the devices that distinguish between the two devices. Wireless and wired performance were largely identical as my internet connection itself is the bottleneck and the router is capable of much more, but I had no issues using several different devices and having 4K video streams come through them. Overall this a great system that I can recommend for those that want a strong system that is going to get better as more devices support Wireless AC.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used it for an day and realized that it was slower than netgear Router, X10 Netgear so I returned it back to Best Buy. My home need FAST Internet for Video calls, Video Games and Direct TV system.

When it works,
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great device when it works. Everyday about 2 to 3 times a day or disconnects from internet. But when it works is awesome. I just can't give it more than 2 stars. After owning for almost a month and hoping they would solve the problem I returned it for another brand (Google) and so far it's working great. No disconnects.

UNSTABLE
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This very expensive router is incredibly unstable. Internet cuts out usually once per day. I bought it due to the Covid quarantine, planning on working from home. When it works, it provides great internet speed (I have Xfinity with 300 mbs speed and it gets me right there in speed tests), but only when it works. My home office is connected to the satellite, and I planned on connecting my voip phone through the ethernet port on the satellite. My voip phone has never worked well, and my IT person from work recently told me it won’t work with this product. There is no setting for QoS on this router, so there is no way to improve the choppy, unusable quality of the voip. Overall, I paid a lot for an unstable incredibly disappointing product. I contacted Netgear support a couple of times, and their answer? Reboot. Thanks Netgear. Now I’m out of warranty, Best Buy won’t take it back, and I’d have to pay Netgear to talk to them anymore. Do yourself a favor, look for something else. In this price range, it shouldn’t be hard to find a stable router.

Returned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another Netgear networking piece that I returned. I have been using netgear for years and this just didnt do what i needed it to do. It works, that is true. But the stability of the connection was just not there. Plus, there is no way to assign wifi devices to one of the nodes individually. So if you had a doorbell camera that was just out of reach for good signal, it would connect to the one it wants matter the quality of the signal. So this was a no go for me.

Love it! Easy to install, long distance and fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a nighthawk AC1900 router for a long time. The router was upstairs in my two story 2250 Sq' house and my office is downstairs about 80' away with several walls in between. In the office, I used to get sporadic speeds from 20-60mbps WiFi out of a possible 550mbps from my ISP. I finally had to do something about it and found the Orbi RBK50 on sale today and pulled the trigger. I installed the Orbi app and followed the easy directions and I was up a running in about 15 minutes with a firmware update. I tried several locations for the Satellite but what worked the best is actually in my office which is furthest away from the router. Now I'm getting just over 400mbps WiFi in the office and couldn't be happier. I named my single ssid the same as my old 2g network and found all my smart devices connected automatically, nest cam, smart outlets, wemo switches, etc. Reading comments for mesh routers before I bought, I thought that was going to be a problem and would have to get out of 5g range to configure the devices but that was not the case for me. I also like that there are no lights that remain on the router or satellite, I used to put black tape over the blinking lights on the nighthawk when company would stay in the room where the router is located. Another reason I choose this router is I have 3 ethernet connected devices and this router supports all 3, for most of the other mesh routers, I would have needed an additional ethernet switch
