This offers an improvement to my prior system but still offers only intermittent service at points in the house furthest from the router and extension router. It's better but I'm disappointed.

It was great when it worked correctly but the 2 Orbi's wouldn't stay connected. There were times I spent 45 minutes trying to get them to communicate together. I ended up returning them.

I was expecting all the same features from the nighthawk router. It isn't . The usb does have cloud sharing. I find myself rebooting it once a week because all my devices lose connection to it

Does not work well for the Nest system. I bought this to get better WiFi range so that my Nest outdoor and indoor cameras can work however this particular system doesn’t run 24/7 it recycles the system and starts at night or whenever it deems the WiFi traffic flows is lower then normal. As you can already guess makes it a nightmare for the camera system. You end up with tons of alerts and emails about your cameras and thermostat being offline. Good system just not ideal if you need to run WiFi 24/7.

I guess it works pretty well but it was much more than I needed. Set up with U-verse internet however was a mess. Be cautious if your using this with ATT.

After reading reviews for Orbi - I was sold and tried this out. Actually - I started with the 3 satellite system but had issues - the same issues I had with this one. But I bought the upgraded system thinking maybe it would work better. It didn't. The issue is not the system but the firmware. I purchased when 210 was the latest firmware version. With each system - upon first setup it worked great. Then it auto-updated to the latest firmware and everything stopped working. The satellites would stay in "config sync" status. The main router would be active - but that's not what you buy these mesh systems for. Netgear support is terrible. I am sure at some point they will fix whatever the glitch is. But wifi should just work and I don't want to be worried about every firmware upgrade breaking the system. So - one star because there is no doubt this system would cause more issues than it solved over the long haul.

I have a fairly small house. 1800 sqft and this barely covers the whole thing. It works, but signal strength is week upstairs evev with the satellite up there.

      Hi Bakura,

If you are experiencing slower speeds than expected with your Orbi system, there are a number of things you can do to optimize performance. Here is a link to a good article on how to optimize an Orbi system: https://averagetechblog.com/how-to/netgear-orbi-settings/

The mesh network is ok but not worth th price. My through out is not even half of my 1gig fiber service. The advanced configuration settings are not available for tech savvy users.

I bought this unit to solve the problem of reaching from the basement to top floor of my ranch. To beging with, the user interface is horrid. The unit never wants to connect to itself and once the two units are talking to oneanother, they would randomly disconnect. I would not suggest this item to anyone. Too many headaches. I ended up with a linksys e9500, much better item for the same money and less troublesome.

So on boxing and setting up the device took less than 10 minutes. Just plug in to your modem and them plug the satellite receiver in to a wall outlet across the house. They took a few minutes to sync with each other. Then all I had to do was log on to the wireless (password provided with devices) and a few minutes of confirming some settings online and I was all set. I have Cable Modem service with speeds up to 100mBPS download. I was only getting 20-60 on any given day, Immediately after connecting to these I was getting 100+. These are as advertised. I love being able to get the download speeds I have been paying for. No interference so far and super easy to connect. I like the design and ease of use.

    Printer support doesn’t work/lousy support

The box promises USB printer support. It doesn’t work. Called Netgear (after having to call Geek Squad to get a number and no help from them) and was told to go to a website and download the software. Turns out to be the same one I already used. On MacOS Mojave you get an error message that says the software is not fully installed & to reinstall. Did this several times. Called back to Netgear & the person hung up on me after telling me to hold they had to talk to supervisor. Tried again this time the person said they would call back after talking to supervisor. Never did. The WiFi portion works. I just can’t get my printers to work or disc drives thru the USB interface.

You have to pay extra to get family controls and you have to allow in app purchases on you phone to use the service. If I have kids, I don’t want in app purchases turned on. Also they block the standard router controls forcing you to use the Disney Extra Cost Parent Control App.

The Orbi system has impressed me. Not only does it cover 2300 sqft with a max signal connection, it does so seamlessly. I have used another Netgear router system that had a range extender. It did the job, but had some annoying quirks. For instance the range extender was a separate wifi network (e.g. NETGEAR-5G-EXT) and you would have to connect to one or the other at a time. The Orbi system doesn't do that at all. The extender (or satellite as it's called) uses the same wifi network name and password so you can travel between them without hassle. Technical details aside, the Orbi is very sleek. The devices are a little bigger than you would imagine, but they blend into the home environment and don't have the generic box design a lot of others do. I have the main unit sitting next to the TV in my living room and it fits in with the rest of my space. So far there have been no hiccups in service and the signal strength has been exactly what my place needed.
