Works Ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works ok, and the speed is better however it seems for the price that the quality and speeds would be much faster and it's not.

Poor Support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased Orbi Mesh Wifi to extend my Wifi. All was great until I had to access the admin settings via 192.168.1.1. The mobile app did not provide the level of detail required to trouble shoot my issue. When trying to access the Admin setting, I would get security questions I never set. So, the product is unmanageable with out access to admin setting. Went to the My Netgear portal where I registered the product. No way to send an email or access anyone from a support perspective to get help on this issue. So, product again is useless. Replaced Orbi with Amplifi and have been completely satisfied with performance.

Netgear Orbi just works
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not one to be all techy, so I don't know HOW things work, all I know is this Orbi works! It was so easy to set up and took only minutes. I plugged the cable into my modem and into the unit labeled Router and I plugged the unit into an electrical outlet. I then placed the other unit labeled "satellite" in the living room, where we usually experience drops. I plugged that unit into an electrical outlet. Both tops were flashing white. The satellite turned blue after a couple minutes then the light went out. I was connected. My PC is plugged into the router via Ethernet (Ethernet outlets in both the router and satellite along with 1 USB port on each). As soon as the internet connected, it automatically launched & took me to the page to set up the router. Simple to follow step by step. We use a lot of devices on Wi-Fi and I'm sure that caused a lot of our previous disconnect issues. However, now, after hooking up ORBI, we stay connected. We haven't experienced a drop since hooking it up about 2 weeks ago. Our printer now connects automatically every time without any issues. The router and the satellite are the same size, both rather large and white. I have the satellite sitting on my TV stand behind some candles and it doesn't stand out at all. This is an expensive item, and we only have a one bedroom apartment, but I know it has made our connection better, stronger. For larger homes, I can only assume it would do the same, but I can't know for certain. I have used range extenders in the past which constantly would disconnect, this stays connected and that is a big plus.

BUYERS BEWARE! IT"S JUNK!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Piece of Junk, BUYERS BEWARE! I needed a faster Wi-Fi for my FiberOptic in the house. Best Buy recommended this. After buying it after the 14 days past I started having issues with the Wi-Fi dropping out, and only getting about 200MBPS speeds. My gateway through my ISP maxes out at 1000mbsp up/ 1000mbps down... After going through other reviews, a lot of people have been having the same issue. I'll take my chances and go with my gut next time. This time around it seemed like Best Buy was only counting on a sale and not customer satisfaction... EPIC FAILURE. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Do your research.

Just plain awful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply put, stay away. I'm a technical user, I work in IT and I'm familiar with networking. That being said, this is easily one of the most frustrating products I have ever had the displeasure of owning. The first day firmware update failed twice, after it applied and reboot the trouble continued. The configuration of the initial router just sat in "applying settings" mode for 15 minutes and failed. After resetting the device I finally got the initial router to complete setup. The satellite was much easier to set up and quickly saw the first Orbi. The configuration worked for around 15 minutes before the Internet quit. The router failed and required a reset and setup once again. This time the router configured quickly but the satellite wouldn't connect. I got so frustrated I put it back in the box and left it. I went back through the other reviews and found very similar experiences. Stay away.

Failed After 11 Months - Nothing Great to Say
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit started failing on me dropping connections... I’ve looked in orbi’s community and so many others having similar issues. If Netgear thinks I’m going to upgrade to their super-expensive version, they have another thing coming. No longer placing my faith in this brand! To put the last nail in the coffin, it broke on Christmas day, so no games, movies or other internet activities for all the presents opened requiring internet/lan functionality. I spent 350.00 bucks for nothing.

Worked but has a firmware glitch
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The orbi system works great but there is currently a firmware glitch that reboots the orbi’s every 10-20 minutes. If you need constant WiFi for streaming, I wouldn’t recommend this system right now

First 2 router system I have ever seen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Normally when you buy a router and you don't get complete coverage, you have to buy a range extender. I like the fact that this router comes with a satellite that will give you over 4000 sqft of coverage. My house is 3500 sqft and the router is on one side of the house. I put the satellite in the middle and I get full bars everywhere. The performance is really fast and I stream 4k and game, and have multiple smart TVs and phones all connected and going at the same time without drops in speed. I highly recommend this router combo.

Netgear customer service leaves a lot to be desire
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed in this product. I have been unable to get the router and satellite to communicate. After several hours on the phone, Netgear wants me to jump through hoops and pay return shipping g to them before they will ship me a replacement. I will be looking at other router manufacturers in the future

Simple to use technology with great performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having setup and used many different brands of routers over the years this was my 1st experience with a base/satellite combo. I anticipated the performance benefits of having a satellite unit that could be placed where it would be best utilized but, instead of diving in and setting everything up when the package arrived, I waited until a technology-averse friend had some time to stop over for an evening. Giving her the Orbi box with the 2 units and instruction notes, I stayed out of the picture with the exception of showing her where my router is located and an open port on the back into which she could plug the cable connecting to the Orbi. She had the system online in under 15 minutes; all I did after that was to change wireless networks on my Macs and connect my server to the Orbi base [wired] and give it a new IP. Because I have only 1 802.11ac device I can't note performance other than a steady 567Mb connection rate. All my 802.11n units connected at 300Mb. Streaming movies from my media server while downloading files from the Internet produced no hiccups, no performance lags, etc. Of course, the main benefit is internal connections; my broadband is the 30Mb variety so a bump from 150Mb to 300Mb internally had little effect on Internet performance but I did see better streaming performance when moving files between server and desktop. Absolute simplicity in setup, great performance, flexibility in moving satellite unit where it is needed, points scored for having 7 free Gigabit ports [3 on base, 4 on satellite]. Plus, it looks great!

Decent product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works very well but is kind of hard to update the system. It seemed to not want to update the satellite.
