I heard so may good things about this product. So, I finally brought the Orbi system for the house. We followed the instructions step by step. Unfortunately, this Orbi system could not connect to my Verizon internet. I kept getting an error message when we tried to enter the password that was given in the instructions. They do not offer a 800 help desk for technical support. So, after trying to get this to work with no success, I took this back to the store the next day.

After doing a lot of research, I purchased the orbi AC3000. Easy setup. The coverage was not up to the standards of my 2013 Apple time Capsule. After 3 weeks I returned it and went back to my old system. The NETGEAR powerline. 2000 I kept. A great way to get Ethernet in to hard to reach wireless spots.

This has been the worst router WiFi system I’ve ever had to deal with. It constantly disconnects several times every single day. I’ve did full factory resets at least once a week since I bought it. I keep hoping Netgear will get their act together and release a firmware to fix this.

Just a few setups and your up and running in no time. If you included taking the Orbi out of the box as a step then this will be the easiest router you'll put your hands on to date. After taking the Orbi out of the box, locating where I wanted to place the Router and then the Satellite unit, plugging in the power and downloading the app on my iPhone I was up and running within 5 mins from placing it on the network. I don't live in a huge 4k sq.ft. house, half that ranch style, the signal is great everywhere plus outside. I live in a cul-de-sac where the mailbox is over 500 ft away from my house and still get excellent signal from router. Pros: iPhone app for control and settings Strong signal with/without Lives up to the hype on easy setup Visual cue on router (Blue top) and satellite (White top) Cons: No access to Guest account, coming soon

Wifi coverage advertised is not accurate. Beware of the advertising. I tested the system, let it adapt (as instructed be Netgear support) and when I attempted to return I was told that it was past the 15 day window.

This product was not as easy to set up as the instructions indicated. I had to call the company for help. Also it did not help in speeding up the WIFI. The APP did not work as stated. Even the person on the phone said that the APP did not work.

I bought this hoping to improve WiFi coverage. After 2 hours of set-up, the Wifi signal keeps dropping out and the LAN connections are not working. I consider myself to be reasonably technical, so tried many troubleshooting steps but to no avail. This is going back to BestBuy today, having left it overnight and had another go at configuring this morning. Sadly a massively frustrating waste of time.

Netgear definitely got ease-of-use right with their Orbi system. I was pleasantly surprised at just how simple it was to add the range extender to the base router's WiFi network. The WiFi connection has worked seamlessly for me. Even with the focus on ease-of-use, the firmware has retained some more advanced features that my previous high-end router disappointingly lacked. It isn't the most feature-packed router I've ever used though. (If you are happy with your existing router, the Orbi system can also work as simply a WiFi access point.) The Orbi does not support a guest network yet, but Netgear has communicated that this will be added in a firmware update. It wasn't a big issue for me in the meantime. The Orbi "boxes" definitely don't look like typical utilitarian network equipment, and would probably not be an eyesore for most people. So optimal positioning for extending WiFi range won't necessarily mean sacrificing aesthetics. But beware: they are somewhat larger than I expected from pictures, which will limit where they can go if you want to put them in a smaller, out-of-the-way spot. All-in-all, I think this is a solid entry by Netgear into the mesh WiFi networking segment. I would especially recommend this if you're looking for an easy-to-use, expandable system that will provide great coverage.

The title sums it up. We have gigabit internet at the house and I switched from a cheap router to this unit and have had problems ever since. The connection randomly drops off every 30 min or so for a minute or two and then magically comes back. I have tried every imaginable route (reinstall, resets, firmware, relocating units, switching cables, reseting modem, changing modem channels, etc.) to get it to work with zero success, the problem is clearly the Orbi unit as my old cheap router still works fine. This purchase along with my additional satellites have sent me north of 500 when I could have had better performance with my old cheap router. Strongly recommend looking at Linksys.
