Solid Whole Home Option
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Besides some missing features (you can't setup a guest network!), this system works VERY well for blanketing a very large area in a unified network. I've been using the Orbi for a few weeks now and have found it to be extremely reliable, besides one time where I had to restart the main router unit and the attached modem (but I think this was a modem issue, not an Orbi issue). I love the fact that the Orbi creates a single network; both 2.4 and 5ghz networks appear with the same SSID, and the satellite unit also uses the same SSID instead of creating an extended, separate network. Makes maintaining a signal from room to room/floor to floor absolutely effortless. I did run into an issue during setup that may or may not serve as a "gotcha" for others that are setting the router up. In my situation, I simply swapped my existing router for the Orbi to start, including plugging in an ethernet attached computer to it. I tried to access the router on my phone via the orbilogin.com link, but was unable to connect. Turns out, the router directed the setup protocol to the computer that was connected via ethernet. Not a big deal by any means, but certainly caused a moment of frustration as it appeared as though the automated setup wasn't working. This unit as is is already a very good system. With automatic updates, I have total faith that the manufacturer will continue to add features to the Orbi to close any existing feature gaps.

Doesn't work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to help extend the wifi system in our new house. I have set up the Orbi eight different times now. It keeps crashing. I have read all the different ways to improve it and nothing works. Don't waste your money on this product.

Fills in the gaps, and then some
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was assuming that the Orbi was just another router with a repeater as a bonus. While this is essentially correct, I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible coverage and signal strength throughout my house. Setup was straightforward, and customization simple. The tri-band communication seems to make its way through (or around) every wall and obstacle that normally reduces signal strength to various devices.

Doesn't work with smart home apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product didn't work well with my smart home apps (Alexa, Hue lighting, Nest, etc). The speed would very greatly thru out the day (from 170MB/sec to less than 1). Super difficult to use & manage so i switched to another brand.

Very Unreliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This had to be restarted daily to maintain internet connection. Didn't even last us one year as it was too unreliable for my spouse and I who work from home. Do not recommend. Replaced with Google Home, so far so good.

What an improvement!!!! Great!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my ASUS RT-56U and (2) TP Link range extenders. What an amazing improvement. The wireless is giving me almost the same speed as wired throughout my entire house with the router and 1 satellite. Tip, setup the guest network with the same SSID and password as your previous WIFI system and you will save time setting up some of your infrequently used WIFI devices.

Even My Wife Loves It
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The problem with being a "techie" is when you install something new, a wife can get irritated with the way the device looks, even if it really works great. She loved the look of the orbi. It's very stylish and modern, but more important is the way it WORKS. We don't have a huge house, but there were a few areas where the connection was somewhat spotty, and our new Ford in the garage with its Sync3 system is supposed to get updates over Wi-Fi but the signal wasn't strong enough to make it happy. orbi to the rescue. It practically sets up itself with a little experimentation. You just watch the light ring as the two units talk to each other, the colors tell you the status of the connection and when all is good, it lights up solid blue and then shuts off. I have full coverage all over the house, not just full coverage but the full SPEED I pay Comcast for. Without orbi, the farther away from my router, the slower the connection speed. Not any more. In short, the orbi is a good way to get full Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and can easily be setup by a novice.

If you game, do not buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firmware update with the system constantly makes drops! If you play a multiplayer game will constantly kick you out the game or try to reconnect. Other devices works fine cause they do not notice the drops as much.

Excellent range, easy set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my Apple Time Capsule/Airport with the Orbi AC3000 after getting a new iPad Pro and not having the wi-fi range I wanted. I couldn't be happier with the upgrade. The setup via the Netgear app was very simple. Speed tests results were : iPhone X went from 78 Mbps to 119 Mbps, and 3rd gen iPad Pro went from 108 Mbps to 118 Mbps. Everything on the network has 118-119 Mbps download and 11-13 Mbps upload. The slight speed increase was nice, but the biggest increase was range. I now have full 4 bar wi-fi coverage on my entire 1/3 acre lot. I was all able to connect the Time Capsule to the Orbi router via ethernet and still use it for Time Machine backups. On the Time Capsule, just turn off wi-fi and put it in bridge mode via the Airport utility.

Reliable System for Large Homes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Orbi wireless mesh system was a replacement for my Netgear Nighthawk R8500. tl:dr : The Orbi system is holding up well in my extreme network environment. I recommend this system without hesitation. Network Layout: 32 connected devices (wireless and wired) NETGEAR CM600 24x8 Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.0 with a 150mb connection (speedtest is 230 down / 12 up - Comcast) 2 x NETGEAR ProSAFE GS108v4 Unmanaged Switch - 8 Ethernet Ports 1 x NETGEAR ProSAFE GS116 Gigabit Desktop Switch - 16 Ethernet Ports 1 x NETGEAR AC1900 Wi-Fi EX6400 (only used to extend an ethernet port to a computer, not to extend wireless) 2500 Square Foot 2 level home with a finished basement I have smartphones, multiple game consoles, sprinkler system, alarm system, thermostat, Tivo Bolt system with 4 Tivo Mini's attached, smart tv's, desktop and laptop computers and a host of other devices connected. Orbi Setup: The setup was easy. I unpacked the router and the satellite, connected all of the ethernet connections, powered both units on and once DHCP kicked in, I went to http://orbilogin.com to proceed with the setup. I answered a few questions, set my SSID and key the same as the previous router so I wouldn't have to reconnect each individual device and devices started connecting immediately. Performance: The seamlessness of the entire setup is the most attractive aspect of this system. All of my devices can roam between the main unit and the satellite with no noticeable lag or drop when they switch from one unit to another. Throughput is high and data transfers completed fast. I tested with large batches of small files and individual large files such as massive PDF's and home videos. I recieve my full advertised internet speed in all areas of my home. I receive signal as far away as 3 homes in either direction on my street. I have extreme crowding of wifi signals in my neighborhood and with the use of a wifi analyzer, I was able to determine that the Orbi system was using the least crowded channels in the 2.4 and 5.2ghz ranges. The main purpose of the satellite is to connect a Tivo Mini to a television that doesn't have access to coaxial connections for cable or MoCa. I am able to watch live HD tv without any issues or drops and without affecting any devices that may be using the satellite for a connection. Issues: I honestly haven't experienced any issues to date other than a minor connectivity issue that was resolved by moving the satellite further away from the main unit. I've had two firmware updates since I purchased the system and the units seem stable through each update. All of the functionality within the firmware works as expected. I have an advanced network so some users may not need all of the features that the router has. The firmware is similar to other newer Netgear routers but has a more modern, polished look to it. I do not experience any drops or freezing of the unit. I have not had to reboot the system since I first purchased it. Everyone will have a different experience but with my setup, I think that I stress test the system daily with the amount of devices and switches I have connected to it and it appears to be holding up.

Great device for average user
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My problem is most internet providers are giving a wireless router now with service. But it is simple and easy to set up for modem only environments that don't have a wireless router included. It is very fast and love the gigabit speed. We have a commercial grade router that does more but this offers the average user a very good option. The gigabit speed is fantastic and am not aware of any other option for it.
