Orbi vs Luma
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Orbi because I have Gigabit fiber to my house, and I wanted the best performance with also great coverage. 4500 sq ft house, 2 levels and a finished basement too (so 3 total). Coverage with this system is outstanding. I also tried Luma, and it was good too, but Orbi can provide better speeds since they have the dedicated 5Ghz backhaul channel. Both systems are easy to configure and update, etc. This one is pricey but for a good reason.

Works great for what I need!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great for what I need! I have had this up and running for nearly 3 years and I have had few issues with it. Speeds and coverage are great and consistent. I have had to reboot it on occasion but the app is very user friendly and most electronics need a reboot from time to time anyway. My wife and I are teachers and this system handled all of our zoom classes and remote teaching needs with few to no issues.

Great setup, bit pricey.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this setup a couple of weeks ago and added it to a Netgear Nighthawk I already had in the house. Setup was fairly straight forward and the entire process took less than an hour. I placed the main router/hub on the opposite side of the house from the Nighthawk and placed the satellite in my basement. Both the far side of the house and the basement where trouble spots for my current Nighthawk. I now have a full 5 bars of coverage everywhere in my home using the Orbi as an Access Point (AP). My lone complaint about the unit is having to go through the entire setup like I was setting up a new network and then having to go back into the settings to change it to an AP. But, that is nitpicking I know and only cost me a few more minutes of time. Both Orbi units are functioning flawlessly so far and both have a very modern look to them. So far I can certainly recommend them for anyone looking to improve their wifi reception in their home or office.

What a difference!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My $200 Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 was not reaching the other side of the house. We had to use an extender but the speeds over there were barely touching 5 Mb/s (we pay for 100 Mb/s). It took me 30 minutes to set this bad boy up and WOW. I'm getting a constant 115 Mb/s in all corners of the house (4,350 sqft). Placing the satellite was tricky. The instructions just say to plug it in, but I noticed that it took at least 10 minutes to completely set itself up. Devices switch between the router and satellite perfectly. This was worth every single penny!

Excellent product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit was easy to install and pair and has significantly increased the distance in my wifi signal. The satellites are a bit bulky but they definitely work as advertised. I had a Nighthawk AC3200 router and extender that the Orbi replaced. Great unit.

Run don't Walk to pick one up!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, we have had issues getting high speed internet service to our home for years (we live in the country) and switched back and forth trying to find an internet provider that worked. We finally received stable service at about 25 Mbps +. We consistently received the 25 when wired connection but WiFi was a different story. We are overloaded with devices: 3 desktop computers, 3 laptops, 4 smartphones, 3 game systems, you get the idea! Speeds when connected on WiFi would range from 10-15 Mbs to less than 1 and would buffer and stall depending on your location in the house. Everyone in my family was frustrated, I tried fancy routers, extenders, Powerline adapters with limited success. Enter the Orbi High-Performance Tri-Band WiFi System. Upon successful installation (which we will discuss shortly) speeds on my mobile devices were now running at near or full 25 Mbps +, the same as I was seeing with my wired connections. I have never even gotten close to wired connection speed on WiFi! I can not praise the Orbi System enough for its ability to deliver high speed WiFi through out my home with little to no degradation in speed! Now, as for installation that was a bit more tedious. First the label on the router with the password had a y as one of the letters but the lower tail of the y was cut off and it looked exactly like a v. As a result the passphase did not work. As I had a DSL modem/router combo I was not entirely certain how to set the system up as the instructions did not cover this type of installation. I was able to contact Netgear Support and after some time was able to talk to a young man that was very helpful and patient. He stepped me through the setup manually and that was when we figured out the problem with the passphrase but I would have had issues anyway as I said, because no instructions were supplied for my type of setup. It took probably an hour and a half (or more) on the phone with everything but it was worth every minute and Netgear provided excellent product support. If you have stable reliable speed for your wired internet service but issues dropping and low WiFi throughout your home, Run don't Walk to the nearest dealer and pick one of these jewels up. It will be worth every penny and even the time it may require to setup if you have difficulty as I did! After years of frustration, this is incredible!

Fast internet throughout the house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my router/extender setup, which gave us connectivity at the far end of the house, but at a fraction of the speed they should be getting because of the overhead of communicating between the main router and extender plus the traffic of the device itself. After doing my research, I found that a tri-band mesh setup is what I would need to get since I cannot connect the main router with any extensions via Ethernet cable -- that third band is necessary so that the main and the satellite can communicate with each other and still serve all of the devices at full speed. I would have preferred a Wifi 6 setup, but my budget dictated Wifi 5. After way too much over-thinking, I ended up with this Netgear Orbi RBK 50 setup. I gave it the same name and password as my old setup and swapped out the routers late in the evening. A couple of DHCP reserved addresses later to support the home automation system and I was fully in business. I went from maybe 20 Mbits down on the far side of the house to the just over 200 Mbits down that our internet provider supplies -- all over the house. I haven't yet tried it out in the yard. All devices use one network name and the router decides which band (2.4 or 5GHz) that the device should use. There are still issues with the streaming TV channels, but I think that it is more of a service provider thing rather than a local network thing as the router stats are telling me that the devices in question have more than sufficient bandwidth and signal quality. So far, a good purchase.

Awesome Signal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my share of crappy service and speed from different routers and modems. I've got it hooked up to a Spectrum Modem and this thing is awesome! So easy to setup and the speeds are incredible. I just moved from NY to a smaller town and I'm getting 100 mbps speeds on the far side of my house. My house is pretty small, so this may be a little overkill, but I'm loving the speeds it's putting out for all of my devices. I will never use a cable companies router ever again..nor will I need to.

SOOOOO Easy to set up...FINALLY!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an IT guy by trade, and have struggled with home wifi routers and extenders for ever. Just the littlest things break connections and make it a pain in the rear to fix. I decided to give these a try and couldn't be happier. Took like maybe 20 minutes total to set up and it's EASY! I'm running 1 GIG connection and totally satisfied getting 400 mbps+ from the satellite access point which is a good 70 feet away, through some walls. Highly recommend!

I love my Orbi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely happy with the performance. I have a 3,000 sq ft space, Fios Gigabit connection and over 30 devices that connects to the router. I initially connected Orbi to my Fios Router and configured as Access Point. I later learned that I could remove the Fios Router and connect Orbi directly to the line coming into the home.

Orbi is awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently installed an Orbi RBK50 system in our house. It was super easy to setup the Orbi base with one satellite for our two story house. The Orbi phone app made the process very simple. We were having trouble with the Apple Airport system that we previously used. The Orbi gives us much better coverage throughout our property with a healthy speed boost. If you are considering an Orbi system, just do it. You won't be sorry.

A bit complicated to set up with Fios but fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this because I was sick of dead zones in my house and my Fios high speed Quantum router just was not getting it done. This seems like it would be easy to set up but what they forget to tell you is that you need to shut down your current WiFi signals via Fios router in the admin settings so this router can take over. I had to hunt to find that info because although it showed I had Wifi, no service was projecting due to conflicting signals. Once I figured this out, it was great and this really speeds things up around the house and there are no dead zones except outside. I still have little to no signal for my Ring camera so I had to get a WiFi extender which was okay. Plus this is also a bit pricey but in the end I think it will be worth it.

Does this system require a modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in a rural area. My internet is fixed requiring direct line of sight to the nearest tower. Per my provider, no modem is required for this service & i can use this mesh system. Additionally they said it will not work eith a modem or a modem/router combo. I Suggest checking with your ider

Super Easy to Set Up!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My father had recently got this since our wifi was not reaching my room. (My dad had previously purchased an eero router, which mad our wifi slower and messed with tasks.)So, when I was bored, I decided to set it up. And it was a breeze! It took me less then 10 minutes to set up and is blazing fast, even from my room. This is an amazing product and you should buy one; trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent WiFi Signals
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After days of research on the best mesh home wifi system, I settled with the Netgear Orbi RBK50 because it has tri-band. It is very simple to setup by using the Netgear Orbi app. I consistently get strong wifi signals and fast internet speeds throughout my home and beyond my backyard. The placement of the Orbi router and satellite is key to get the best wifi coverage in your home.

Solves WiFi Forever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not normally write reviews, unless a product is amazing or beyond awful. The Orbi system is AMAZING! I live in a 5000 Sq Ft home with the Wifi coming from the basement and have been playing with my WiFi for a while, trying everything from Linksys Routers (AC1900 and EA8300) to Netgear Repeaters and even trying the Wiring route. Sadly, none of this worked to my liking. The speed was acceptable, but I'm paying Xfinity for 500MB and was getting 50MB. Using the Xfinity Modem/Router Combo (Gateway 2) I was able to get good speed in the range of 300MB but that was standing besides the unit. It left the upstairs at much slower speeds. With the Orbi unit my speed throughout the house has been about 475MB. I have never seen a unit with almost no loss. If you are on the fence, let me tell you - GET IT! I wish I would have found it when it first came out and avoided all of the issues I have dealt with. Now, I feel that I'm good for a while and won't have to worry about upgrading to get max speeds anytime soon.

Simple and Fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Without a doubt the easiest wifi network to setup. I was up and running within 20 minutes. Excellent coverage throughout the house and what has been a pleasant surprise has been the ability to access my home dvr out of home on a consistent basis. The only thing changed is the Orbi. I would highly recommend it.

Works Better Than I Expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our home is about 80 feet long. The entry point for our cable internet is on one end of the house in our home office. Our master bedroom where the wife likes to watch Netflix, surf, Facebook, whatever, is over 60 feet away and has 4 rooms, including our kitchen, between them. We have tried various means thru the years to enhance the signals to that end of the house, with limited success. I was able to relocate our router a little more centrally, but despite it being one recommended because of its extended reach the best mbps I could get on that end was 1.something. We tried range extenders but the couple I tried were more trouble than they were worth. I researched various solutions and finally settled on the Orbi, mainly based on Cnet reviews. Hookup was not without its problems which took about 3 hours and help from my tech savvy son. Finally figured out the problem was a bad Ethernet cable that came with the Orbi. Once we figured that out and replaced it with a good one, set up was pretty easy and straight forward. I placed the main router in the office and the satellite in our bedroom. Bottom line, we only have and need a 50 mbps service and now get a little over that in the central living area, which is close to the office and an even slightly better signal in the bedroom. We've only had it for a week so dependability is unknown but the wife is very happy so all is good.

Impressive, I'm not going back to my Netgear X4S
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was extremely happy with my Nighthawk X4S router from Netgear. It never failed me, but my Sharp Aquos 4K TV *DID*. My TV was constantly dropping its wireless connection, so I tried a couple brands of powerline adapters and was less than thrilled with the results. I was still dropping wi-fi connection to my TV. I was tired of constantly resetting the TV's password and went back to my Roku. Enter the Orbi. I didn't give it much hope that it would help the TV connection. I installed the main Orbi where my Comcast internet comes into the house and placed the satellite Orbi next to the TV with a WIRED ethernet connection. Set-up of both pieces was amazingly simple, just as my other Netgear products have been. I'm happy to report I can now stream directly from my TV; no reboots have been needed ever since receiving this. ************************* I really wanted to put the Orbi to a test and since my home is on the small side, I took the Orbi for an extended weekend visit to my brother's home which is almost 4000 square feet. The Orbi performed flawlessly and we had at least 14 different wi-fi connections going at once. No part of his home suffered from not having a good internet connection. Yes, my brother wanted me to leave the Orbi with him. I told him to buy his own. ************************* Free product provided by NETGEAR for my evaluation and review.
