Worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know what you are thinking how can a wifi router and extender be worth $349.99? Easy, it works as advertised. I have purchased more wifi routers and extenders than I care to admit. Before Orbi I was using a Netgear Nightwak router and extender and I suffered two major issues. First, reliabity, I was constantly rebooting the extender. Second coverage, my house is 4100 square feet and I had many areas where the download speeds were less than adequate. Although 350 bucks was a hard pill to swallow, after watching it perform, the money was well spent. A couple of things to be aware of. If you have a higher end router I would not expect much improvement on down and upload speeds. My speeds were about the same when near the router or the extender, around 120Mbps. What was different was my "slow" areas were significantly faster. I went from around 8-10Mbps to averaging over 90Mbps. I have had zero issues with reliability Concerning set up, I have set up dozens of wifi routers for friends and family and this one was one of the easiest to set up. I would recommend not using the app (it needs some work) just plug in an Ethernet cord into your computer and follow the online instructions. Very simple.

Outstanding ease of setup, but no Guest Network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had Netgear routers for the last 6 or 7 years, and really like the Parental Controls (OpenDNS integrated so easily) and the Guest Network, and very fast. I set up the Orbi in my new house last week, and it works very well. But I miss having the Guest Network available, and I may return it if no Guest Network is to be available, and just use an older one.

Doubled my wifi speed and coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very impressed by this router. I have a 3,000 sq ft home and I had a router and an extender. Common problems: two networks, devices slow to switch between networks, slowness on the extender network. The wifi speed closest to the router was topping out at 125Mbps and the furthest room topped out at 23Mbps. Not bad, but certainly not great either as I pay for a 200Mbps connection from Optimum. After I installed the Orbi, which was not as easy as Netgear said it would be due to weird glitches, my coverage seems to have doubled and the speed in the house is now 225Mbps almost everywhere. I even have wifi coverage in the yard now! I've noticed no network problems and no problems when moving from the primary router to the satellite network. The kids are happy because there is only one wifi network now so connecting is easy. No more frustration when their devices would get stuck on the distant wifi network rather than the closest one. I've only been using this products for a few days now but so far, I highly recommend it.

Did not work for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So i work at bestbuy i had a nighthawk x6 and been very happy with it performance is nice for multiple devices i keep adding more devices to my network so i replaced my router with a 2 pack orbi system so far i had to call netgear support the service support was awsome but product not so pleased or impressed after the set up i was streaming on my firestick a 1080p secret life of pets and wow bufferred 7 times before i got half way through the movie with a 10 second fast forward delayafter every buffer. So after reading a lot of geek and tech reviews this orbi is good for range as far as performance i am going to replace it with a nighthawk x8 or the nighthawk x10. I hope everybody else has a better experience with this set up.

Works great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system works very well. Our router is located in our home office and with the previous router we would routinely be kicked off of WiFi which now does not happen. The speed is much faster too.

Do you feel lucky?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't. Out of the box couldn't get the a hardwired solution to work. Troubleshooting confirmed cables were good. Wi-fi had great range but was constantly dropping. Update got me ethernet but again it was as unstable as the wi-fi. When it worked it was great. For some reason everytime I used the app to run a speed test it dropped connection. Another weird behaviour is the app would say I had lost internet but my phone said everything was fine. Spent about three hours changing settings, trying different combinations but nothing solved the stability issues. Boxed up and plan to take back tomorrow. Based on the reviews I must have been unlucky but at the same time this isn't a brand new product. Expected better from Netgear who historically I have never had a problem with.

The best Router, The Best Wi-Fi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had never had a router as powerful and stable as Orbi, the whole house is fully covered by a strong and extremely speedy signal now. I have over 30 devices connected at any time and no a single drop off or disconnection in 3 weeks of ownership so far, also the recent firmware update made the web interface a little bit faster now. My only wish at this point is that Netgear improves its mobile and PC apps as they are both lacking a lot when compared with what the completion is offering, however the great web interface makes for it for now as it is pretty good. I like the fact that there's only one single Wi-Fi network in the entire house now no more 4Ghz and 5GHz band, no more switching between networks anymore Orbi automatically offers the fastest available one to all my devices now make it so easy, everything you might need from your home network can be accomplished with this device. Highly recommended, get it now!

almost perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were having issues streaming 4K content on Netflix and getting signal in certain parts of the house (far from the router we currently had). We have a 100 mbps connection but over wifi were lucky to get around 40 on a normal day (close to the router). After setting these up I'm getting 119 mbps in every room in my house. The one small thing that was not so great was the setup. For whatever reason the firmware won't update automatically. You have to download the new version (one for the main unit and one for the satellite) from the website and then manually select the files to upload. It's really not that hard to do but for $400 you'd think Netgear would be able to recognize and solve this problem. The units are a bit bigger than I would have hoped but they look nice and can go behind something so it's not a big deal. Overall SUPER impressed with the speed these guys have been able to achieve.

Excellent Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By far the easiest router I’ve ever setup. Replaced all of my Apple Airports and Orbi recognized all my existing devices. Didn’t have to reconnect a single device. Very strong signal on all levels of my 4000sq ft house.

Fantastic mesh system at a great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it in April 2018. Installed the router on the first floor and the satellite in the walk-out basement. Coverage throughout both floors and surrounding yard is fantastic and seamless. I used an in wall ethernet CAT 5 connection between the two units. House is 3,216 square feet, excluding the 3-car attached garage, which also gets great wireless coverage. Price, on sale, when I originally bought it was $319.99; its a steal at the current price. Stop suffering from crappy Wi-Fi and upgrade already!

Flawless Perfect WiFi At Last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router with one remote satellite vastly improved my WiFi performance and coverage. No longer do I experience dropped connections and my smart home devices perform much more reliably. I have 7 wireless speakers, 9 smart plugs, 2 doorbell devices, 2 television devices, and about ten assorted computers/phones/tablets, and several hard wired devices which I plug into the router or the satellite. Across the board I have seen faster connectivity and I don't randomly drop the signal for no reason. Previously I was using two Apple AirPort Extremes (latest generation) with one in repeater mode. I experienced slowness and it repeatedly dropped connections. I'm excited that my wireless audio system now streams music flawlessly without cutting out. This has made all of my other gadgets so much more useful.

Great upgrade from my Airports
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Covers my whole house (about 5000 sq ft over 2 levels) plus basement and outside with a strong Wifi signal. Originally had a 5th generation airport extreme downstairs and a 4th generation airport extreme upstairs (hardwired as a repeater) - best I could achieve was 200 Mbps (in the same room as the router), but it varied down to 86 Mbps (like my garage). After installing the Orbi, my best was 760 Mbps (at the router or satellite) and only down to 315 Mbps in my garage. Cons: If you hardwire the satellite, make sure you upgrade the firmware before you connect via ethernet, so ethernet backhaul is recognized . It took me a few tries to realize that this was the holdup on my install.

Best router system I have tried yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup and configure. Works as advertised. My satellite is behind 3 interior walls and people back in that part of house could not tell any difference in signal from the main unit in the living room.

Expensive brick, bad customer service/tech support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the ORBI for three weeks and it's already a brick. The satellite unit has been flashing white for a week or more, which should be an indication of firmware/settings being updated. However, when i tried to plug something into the Ethernet connection of the satellite, I realized it wasn't working. After spending several hours on the internet trying to trouble shoot the issue, I found that many people are having the same exact problem. Netgear has known of the issue for months and has done nothing to fix it. I called customer service and waited an hour to speak to a representative. After repeating several of the tips I had already tried on my own, she reluctantly agreed to send me a new unit. Best Buy's unfriendly 2 week return window forced me to deal with exchanging the sattelite through Net Gear rather than return it in person (a policy I was unaware of, and definitely makes me rethink the possibility of buying anything significant at Best Buy again). The best part is that they won't send the new satellite until they receive the old one at their warehouse so I won't have the product I paid for 3 weeks ago for several weeks while we wait for shipping, handling, etc. They also require the customer to pay for shipping the sattelite back to them. I find this to be extremely poor customer service, as we've only had the ORBI for three weeks. Horrible customer service and tech support. Rest assured Netgear, I won't be purchasing any more of your products in the future. Completely unfair way to treat your customers.

Worth the purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since we moved into our split-level house I have been struggling with getting a strong wifi signal from one end of the home to the other. After reading about all my options, I decided to buy the RBK50. It was the most I have ever spent on a wifi system before but I am now a month into my purchase and I can say it was well worth it. My wifi signal is very strong and fast no matter where I am at in the house and it has solved all our streaming issues we had with our many devices (4 Roku's, 2 XBox's, 5 mobile phones (wifi calling also), 1 Fire Stick, Nest Thermostat, 2 tablets and multiple laptops).

Great WIFI for large homes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the nighthawk router for my home which did not work well and had to use extenders. ORBI is a great product for that use. Price could be a little less, however it works great.

Poor connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A friend recommended I get a Orbi RBK50. We have are fantasy footballball draft every year in my patio, and our WiFi is out of reach using my old Linksys. It was back in January of 2018 when I got it. At first it was excellent, everything my friend said it was. Then the nightmare began. Long story short, the Orbi works well for my friend and most everyone, however they are a lot of people like myself experiencing this connection issues. I’ve been working with Netgear support since February and no resolution. I went back to Best Buy and the store manager was sympathetic with my story and granted me a exchange after six months. God bless. He recommended I try the Linksys Velop. My connection never drops my speed is excellent and I get coverage throughout my whole home. Stress free “ULTAM8”

Pleased so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a Netgear R8500 and so far Orbi has been great for me. I think Orbi is best for large coverage areas or for homes with multiple levels. Due to how the wiring is in my house (including some LAN connections), my router was always in the lower level of my home. As such, the signal and speed was less on the main floor. With the orbi router in the lower level and the satellite in the main floor, I get the same connection speeds (using speedtest.net) all over my house. I also like the fact that both bands essentially use the same SSID. So far I have no complaints for the Orbi.

This is a great product.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product. My cable/ISP is Comcast and I have an older Motorola surfboard modem, the two seem to work well together. This system allows you to extend your Wi-Fi throughout your home or office by using the router and the satellite. The modern design of this system blends into any room and power multiple devices. I have a TV, 3 iPhones, 1 tablet, 3 laptops, 1 camera, and I am about to connect a wireless video doorbell. As noted in other reviews it does not boost the actual internet speed, it only extends the signal. Setup is easy it took about 15 minutes.
