Great so far and great reception.Just, one minor flaw and they need to make longer the cable that comes with the unit.

I'm not sure the ultimate issue here, but could not get past installation. Currently use a Nighthawk X8 router and assumed switching over to a Netgear Orbi would be painless. Due to IP address issues, it was not. My initial plug in and play moment was able to change the name and pw on the unit, and not much else. Went so far as resetting the entire Orbi, but never was able to work. I reset all pieces involved multiple times to no avail. Instead of routerlogin.net, now it's Orbilogin.net, which also never materialized once, to fix any issues with a GUI, but no. Will try again in the future and maybe update then.

    Firmware still extremely buggy

This system could be so good. Before you buy, read the Netgear board (community.netgear dot com; search on "Orbi internet disconnect". A year after its release the Netgear people still can't fix the huge number of problems. It's really fast and elegant when it's working, but every few hours it loses internet, loses the satellite, or loses wi-fi. Phoning tech support (it's only free for 90 days) results in AT LEAST a 40-minute wait. It's not ready. You'll be a beta tester.

    Don't Buy This

Yes, for the first few days there was great coverage with the router and two satellite's but when a problem occurred the customer support was horrible. Tremendous wait times only to speak with support staff who offer very little technical knowledge. All my units were replaced after 26 calls to support and a combined 18 hours on hold. Yes a combined 18 hours on hold. I am now having issues with dropped signals...mostly phone calls. Look at the community support page for Netgear...lots of unhappy customers with dropped signals with no visible signs of solutions or support.

This fixed my low signal issue, dead spots and buffering on new 4k tv. Install was super easy and kept my old name and password so all my devices came back online. EASY! Love it.

    Very Slow

I purchased this router with high expectations. I purchased this as a replaced to a 4 years old Apple Airport Extreme Wifi Router. To my surprise, this Orbi is extremely slow compared to the Airport Extreme. Things I noticed with the Orbi: 1) Movies load much slower with the Orbi. I have to wait 20-30 seconds for the movie to load on iTunes or Netflix. 2) Web browsing is noticeably slower, especially is your using online business type applications such as google drive, box, DocuSign, etc. Overall I am very disappointed with this access point.

Problems with App shuts down the router

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After spending nearly over 90 minutes on the phone looking for assistance, I am grabbing the white flag. After connecting the router successfully to modem - the satellite too - I was able to connect devices to them with success. When it came time to download the app (which manages the wifi system), the message on my phone was that the router was not connected to the modem...repeatedly. My call to customer service was lengthy, nonproductive, and filled with very little assistance. To make matters worse, when I was told they would call me back in 20 minutes....lets just say I waited 24 hours before calling them back. The result? On hold for 20 minutes before the call went dead. My number had been taken previously in the call so that if we were disconnected, I would be called back. Still waiting for that...2 days later. And my router is flashing magenta...which in orbi speak, means it i isn't working.

After a review at the store with the Best Buy guys, I chose the Orbi over the eero. The folks at Best Buy were generous with their time. But, after 4 hours and a wasted evening, I packed it all back up and am returning it today. The product did not set up nearly as easy as everyone says it does. My Apple TV never would connect with Orbi even after two hours of me working on it. I tried Ethernet cable to the satellite as well as the WiFi. nothing worked. Ultimately, that is why I am returning it. So, my experience was this was not an easy product to set up and it did not work well or at all with some other devidces in my house after several hours of trying to work with it. #wasted evening The only last point I will make it, I tested our speed on the far side of the house before and after...the only gain was 20mbps. So, not really that great.

    Poor parental control

Its the best router to get best wifi signal at the moment! However, I can't seem to find an option to control different devices enabled or disabled on an automated schedule for my kids. It seems I can only do this for ALL devices or no devices. There is no per device control. I thought this should be a basic feature as I had this in my previous company router. Hope Netgear will add this and release a new firmware soon! Thanks.

Setup is very easy, and Wi-Fi has great coverage. However, basic functionality such as QoS and DHCP reservations are either missing or just do not work. Although the equipment is great for basic users, advanced options seem to be lacking in comparison to other vendors. Overall, very I am disappointed in the product.

    Great Until Power Goes Off

Setting this up was extremely easy, but the next morning I had to reset my modem (not related to the Orbi),,,never worked after that. I spent 4 hours trying to find a phone number for tech support (during my 90 days free support),,no such thing, it doesn't exist. The product is great until the first time your power goes out, then you are going to go buy a different router,,this one is a piece of junk

Sucks, couldn't out preform old 150 dollar router

Replaced aging Cisco Lnkysis router with this junk. This devices takes 3 takes as long to connect a new device. The speed is great, only improvement is a single device can grab 100+ mbps, old device could only push 50 to 60 mbps per device. The range is flat awful. My sprinkler system is now in a dead zone. Over all, I was just expecting an improvement after having the same device for 7 years. Setup was not plug and play, had to have cable company reset modem on their end (rare for routers I have set up in the past 15 years). This system needs extenders, due to how awful it performs, I'm am stuck needing one more (only 3,000 sq house). Might dust off the old router and wait a few more years.

Set up with PS4 is difficult

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

All the other reviews tend to gloss over how much work is required to get a PS4 working with the unit. Each step on the PS4 side takes about 10 minutes. For some reason, the "Set Up Internet Connection" screen takes over 10 minutes to change to the next step. Then, that step takes 10 minutes. Etc. Quick google search of "setup ps4 with orbi" will show this is an known issue, and a rollback to previous firmware version is suggested. Before going there, I decided to try plugging in to the satellite, setting a static IP address, and various other solutions. Getting a PS4 to work is a full-day's work.

    Great signal, poor design

With more and more devices needing their spot on WiFI, my old Netgear router needed to be replaced. I was losing signal with the more devices I added. I knew I needed something tri-band to overcome this. Because I was replacing my trusty Netgear router, I figured I would I see what Netgear had to offer. The Orbi was easy to set up and the signal was awesome, but it did not play nice with my Nest products and other wireless stuff. Seems to be plenty of people with similar issues so I returned it. If you need something hassle free and awesome signal strength and speed, I highly recommend the Eero Pros (not the beacons due to not having Ethernet ports). Have had it a few days and it is even faster than Orbi with no connection issues.
