Netgear powerline extender
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Interface to know if LAN or Wifi is really connected is not known ( a green light only lets you know the LAN is being used). Just by doing speed test where the item is connected is the only way of knowing if it works. I contacted customer service & they started to tell me that it could be bad wiring or age of the house that is preventing the system to work.

Worked for a day, then died.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Useless piece of junk died after a day. One of the two units wouldn't even get a power light any more. And of course this happened just before a big storm that snowed me in for two weeks, just long enough that Bust Buy's lousy customer-hating return policy expired. So all I got from customer service was a shrug and "Sorry, there's nothing we can do."

Netgear Powerline 2000 works great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical that this product was going to work as advertised. I am happy to say that it really does work very well. The reviews are correct that the unit does block the upper plug of your outlet if plugged in below, so you just have to be ok with that. I guess they figure that the single pass through outlet is compensation enough for their design flaw. That being said it works great! Just remember to plug it directly into the wall outlet and not your power strip! Tried that first and really didn't work very well. It did take a bit for the two units to really pick each other up though, but after that I could stream video from my router that was way out of wireless range from one end of my house to another. Very happy with the purchase!

Works as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very seldom nowadays can you actually get a product to perform as it is described. Like I said, works as advertised. Easy set up out of the box. You don't have to be a network guru at all. It was even easy for this simple programmer to do. I can run a VoIP phone, simple switch with two computers attached via patch cables and it is working great for my upstairs office. Thanks NetGear!!!

Better than wireless but. . . .
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have Gigabit Internet service. My wireless devices can attain speeds up to 230-250Mbps down and half of that up. Direct connect CAT6 RJ45 to router, I can get 950Mbps plus down and up. With the Powerline 2000 I get 350-400Mbps down and up. It is faster than wireless and seems to be working very well. It simply does not provide the advertised speed of 1G. Tried several locations throughout the house with much the same results. Before recommending to a friend, I would want to be sure they were not expecting 1G speed.

TLDR, good wired like connection, lasts years.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall these things are a go to for someone who wants their connection to be a wired connect, doesn't have a wireless option, or generally hates wireless anything like I do. Their conneciton is strong and solid, any distance works as long as power connects them, and they work for years. I recently had one die on me, but I've had these same model for years without any signs of them getting old. I run two computers off of one line as well which is very nice, and I don't have any performance issues with doing so. All that being said, You basically sacrifice an entire outlet as there is little to no clearance above the device for the second plug, and I've never wanted to plug anything into the front as I fear it may interrupt or mess with the connection to the internet. The other downside, is there does seam to be a limit on the bandwidth allowed through. This limit is high enough not to matter for streaming and things, but it's very noticeable when downloading large amounts of data.

Solid Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well, the speed is a lot lower than advertised but I have it traveling over a long distance from floor to floor. Biggest thing for me is how low my ping is when gaming, with minimal spikes like WiFi would otherwise have.

1/5 of these have failed after 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aside from some design flaws on how it covers the top outlet, I would love these Powerline 2000. They are easy to configure, work well in my house and resolved my issues with Tivo, my home office and WiFi coverage/speed. Really, these seemed to be the answer to all my problems. I bought a few of them to use in my house in NJ but one of them stopped working after a few months. I chalked it up to bad luck, bought a replacement unit and was good to go again. Then I got relocated to OH to a brand new house which was not wired for Ethernet. No big deal, I can use the Powerline 2000 solutions like I did in NJ. I bought a few more units and even more of the units have died after a couple of months! No power whatsoever to the device. The ones that work, work great, but if I have to keep replacing them, it is a HUGE inconvenience, even with BB's protection plan.

Nice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation was simple. Works as advertised. Not the fastest speeds, but it beats an almost non-existent Wi-Fi signal across the house and upstairs.
