Grinding down
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was easy to set up and initially had great speeds. However the speeds soon slowed to a quarter of my download speed. No mater what I did the speed would not come back until I got a new router. I purchased another brand and it works perfectly.

Piece of...well you know.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First day, it worked slightly well. then third day, i started getting lag spikes, Breaks in coverage. (be aware i don't live in some mansion, i live in a small 1 bed room apartment.) I could sit next to this thing and it would just refuse to connect, at one point i had to hard reset and it worked again well, just recently, it's now apparently just decided to stop working. If you don't want distant girlfriend issues, Avoid this, AVOID AVOID AVOID. I'm no expert on routers, but you think, you set it up right. you even get the stupid app, that in essence is worthless, and you make sure everything on your end is good, it would work. But no, it's worse than a router i bought in 2010. (belkin)

Not as reliable as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't expecting any connectivity problems when I made the purchase since I've not experienced any with my previous unit. I have contacted technical support on two occasions and I'm not sure the problem is yet rectified.

Impressed with performance.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router because I wanted something that would cover our whole house and the standard Comcast router was being flaky and wouldn't connect reliably. I tried using a repeater, but that still used the Comcast Wi-Fi and halved the data rate so it didn't really improve things. I bought the Netgear router and hardwired it to the Comcast router. First off, the websites seem snappier. The actual speed of the connection isn't really that much better, but it somehow manages to connect with them more quickly and so the internet simply feels faster because there's no lag when you load a new page. The range is definitely an improvement over the standard Comcast Wi-Fi router. It's a little deceptive at first glance. I went into the room furthest from the router which is about 30ft and three walls from the router. My smartphone was just showing 1/4 bars. I was a little disappointed, but I thought I'd try a speed test anyway just for kicks; not even expecting it to complete the ping. Even with minimal signal strength, I was still pulling 3 - 6 Mbps. That's not fantastic, but it's enough for someone to surf the web and watch videos on a smartphone, and certainly more than I've ever achieved with just one bar. I've only had it for 24 hours, but so far I'm pretty impressed.

Not as good as older modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this to replace the old one, same model, that worked wonderfully. This newer model is slow to connect to Internet and iPad. Drives me crazy. The wait time makes me want to replace it with a better router asap.

Can't Ask for much more for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My home router was finally acting up enough I had to look for a replacement. The router itself was almost 10 years old and even though I'd loaded DD-WRT (Custom firmware for routers with a ton of features for free) it was time. I looked online, checked prices / reviews - but decided I'd get one that I could pick up that evening (I normally buy most everything online) so I found out what routers were available to me locally then checked those reviews. Got the WNDR3400 for $49 + tax on sale at BB. Reviews were somewhat negative on other sites - but you ALWAYS have to take those with a grain of salt. People are much more likely to get on the internet and write a review or post to a forum when the have PROBLEMS with their product - not so much when they don't. Most of the problems seem to be related to firmware. All I know - Mine worked fine. I had to tinker around to open ports for a gaming console (most people won't have to do that) and I did assign static IP Addresses for some of my devices (SUPER EASY with Netgear - link the device to the wireless, then you can choose that device to give a static IP address to - you don't have to manually enter the MAC Address etc). Heck - once I renamed the new router to the same SSID and password of my old router, several of my devices automatically connected with zero issues. I was worried with no external antenna , that range might not be great. In a spread out two story home, where the router is downstairs and two gaming consoles and at least one computer are upstairs - I thought it might be an issue...NOPE. Laptop upstairs getting twice the speeds of the old router (and it was setup correctly BTW) and that's with 5 devices connected. Don't get caught up in all the "AC, N, etc" wireless speak. AC hasn't been officially adopted yet and most devices don't use it. Nine times out of ten, it's NOT the router that limits your wireless speeds - it's the internet service you have connected to the router.....keep that in mind. If your ISP advertised 20MB down / 10MB Up, your not going to greatly improve this with a new router. For 99% of ALL internet users, even those streaming etc - Anything above 6MB down wouldn't be noticed except in speed tests and large file downloads. I guess what I'm saying is - if you pay $200 a month for internet then buy a $200 router. If you have normal broadband - this router more than fits the bill with multiple devices.
