Bought from Best Buy. Worked fine the first two weeks, then wireless was dead. Tried many things for another 10 days => decided to exchange it with Linksys as others had recommended.

For those of you that are looking for a good router, something with range, speed and just overall ease of use, look no further. I have ALWAYS gone the Linksys route, never had anything different... (I even worked for the Geek Squad and Best Buy for Business for 3+ yrs before moving on to "Greener Pastures" - Where we were taught that Linksys was "King") -- So when my WRT54G (One of the best routers on the planet!) started dying over the past few months, I did what I could to make it last... It finally died the other day and I was forced to go looking. I am not a gamer and I don't have an Network structure currently that requires/needs gigabit speeds... (even though I'm a geek at heart and I wanted it)... Everything in my house is wireless! It really came down to bang for the buck and the Linksys E2000 vs this Netgear router... Line them up side by side and outside of the gigabit switch in the Linksys, the Netgear kinda walks all over it. Long story short: I got it home, set it up in a matter of minutes (if you don't include the time to download the latest firmware - which is automatic with the netgear routers) - The range is excellent, way better AND faster than my old WRT54G, no drops, everything connects fast.... No complaints at all.

I was looking at buying the 3700 model instead but wanted to try this out first seeing as its half the price. I'm happy I did because I love this router and it runs with ease. I game on my desktop and my girlfriend also games on her laptop plus my kids stream HD movies from Netflix through my 55 inch LED tv. There is no lag whatsoever when doing these 3 things on any of our pc's or tv at the same time. Hookup was fairly easy as well as long as you FOLLOW the directions. Very Very satisfied and I saved myself 75.00 on buying the 3700 model. I would recommend this to friends for sure..... :)

I was advised by a Best Buy sales person that I would need to upgrade my Time Warner provided router to assure better results from my new blu ray player. I was never able to get this new router to connect to the internet even after contacting tech support. It may have been a Time Warner Cable problem, but their tech support claimed their service was just fine. I finally gave up in frustration and returned the unit. Best Buy accepted the return with no problem at all. Cudo's to Best Buy; not sure about Net Gear. Oh, and it turned out the original Time Warner provided router works just fine with the new blu-ray player.

This was purchased in a rush as my router died and needed something ASAP. The range is not great. Gave it to my mom and it barely gives service to her 1200 sqft home

Two times when the lights blinked out, the modem came back on, but not the router sold above. Had to reset that, and once when there was nothing going on. It just stopped and had to be reset.

Semi works with HP 7410 printer, but our remote laptop freezes up, is slow, keeps losing connection, and NOT acceptable. Tried to return it, but had it for 30 days trying to get it to work. would not take it back because of being over 15 days.(new policy as of 3/2013). Not good for Best Buy as far as we are concerned. Routerr only 20 ft from laptop line of sight. Printer 6 ft from router.

I specifically asked if this product would allow me to AirPrint and was told yes no problem. Got it set up and I still can't AirPrint. I'm starting to understand why my wife does not like your store.

Stopped working after one day. Returned to store. Upgraded by Comcast service and got a new modem box from Comcast that included a routing feature. Maybe it was just the router I purchased.

I bought what I thought was a top of the line router. However it wasn't any better than my old G router that I paid $15 for years ago. I was hoping the wifi would reach outside, it did not. It also kept loosing the connection and I would have to go through the Netgear Genie to reconnect. I plan on returning it to Best Buy and just stick with the router I already had.

This wireless router is a little difficult to install for someone with no knowledge of networks. For me it was not as easy as it appeared.

Easy to set up dual band router

This is a great dual-band router. It was simple to set up and is very reliable. I bought one for myself, then my parents, and now my sister (easier to help when we all have the same one since I'm pretty much their IT dept!) It's slim enough to easily fit on a desk or between a desk and wall. I primarily use it for laptops, iPad, iPhones in an apartment, but my parents have a 3 story and it works great no matter what floor you are on. Great product!

Excellent router with strong wifi connections

The n600 was replacing an aging wrt54g linsys router. Setup was a breeze, but you should know that the included software is complete rubbish. Just throw that disc out, you won't need it anyway. Cloned my pcs mac address and the connection was instantly recognized. Setting up password protected network encryption was simple, as was changing the admin password. With my previous router I was never able to set any passwords, the router would just stop working altogether even with most up to date firmware. Oh yeah firmware. The n600 checks for firmware updates every time you view the settings page, so that might be something you want to disable, or not, it's up to you. The blue light on the side is a bit annoying, but fortunately pressing down on the spherical light disables it. Qos setup was also very easy, and I've even been playing around with per application settings/restrictions. So far everything is working at advertised speeds. I run 2 wifi connected pcs, one wired pc, a sat box, a 360, and a ps3 (wired) and have had good throughput on everything even when streaming HD material through netflix on multiple devices. Unless your'e streaming HD files from a pc or media server with an exceptionally high bitrate this router should be fine for all your media needs. The usb port on the router is super useful and fairly easy to set up. It recognized a 1.5tb seagate external drive and allowed wired acces through my desktop pc without any setup. Getting the drive shared among multiple pcs is a little bit trickier, as you have to manage permissions on each machine individually but is totally doable. For whatever reason I was unable to get full usb 2.0 with the drive attached to the router, streaming HD video @ ~30Mb/sec bit rates was almost impossible. Lots of stuttering and audio/video sync issues. I hope this can be solved with a future firmware update, but I'm not holding my breath. The networked usb port works great for backing up smaller files and standard def media or music, but I wouldn't rely on it for any heavy lifting in a media center type configuration. The connection just seems too slow. All in all this is a fantastic router. I wish the usb performance was a bit better but honestly that feature is just a nice little bonus, even if it's not quite ready for prime time. If you're accustomed to the linksys interface and bugginess this will be a big shock to the system. The netgear interface isn't tabbed, and really not as pretty, but the settings all actually work which is far more important to me. Whether you're serving media files from one pc to another, or are connecting an entire household's worth of devices this router performs admirably. I am very happy with this purchase, and will definitely buy netgear again when the time comes.

Geek Squad recommended this router for a replacement for the one my internet provided (rented). I was told this was the best on the market but I have less coverage, WiFi keeps dropping and does not keep up if more than one user at a time. WiFi completely stops if someone is on Ethernet at the same time.

Had the product for a little over a month and from the date it was purchased til now I have had nothing but issues. Constantly disconnecting from the modem; therefore, WiFi is inaccessible. I would return; however, I am past the 15 days, so I am stuck with this NON RETURNABLE, NON WORKING router.
