Great router, easy installation and good range!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the NETGEAR Wireless-N Dual Band Router two weeks ago and really love it. It was soooo easy to install. I've seen in other reviews that some people have had some problems with installation but I can't understand why. I followed the installation instructions to the letter and had no problems whatsoever. It appears to be very reliable and I've had no dropouts since I installed it. My previous dual band router dropped out constantly and needed to be reset. It's a pleasure to have a router that stays connected. I stream video using my blu-ray player and it works without a hitch. The room I have my blu-ray player in is on the other side of the house (probably 50 ft. line of sight) and the signal is very strong. I have an internet phone connected and two laptops and there are no problems I've found. This is a great buy!

Great router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a former computer repair technician (Firedog and !Q Crew) for Circuit City, I was always a fan of Cisco (Linksys) products. Netgear always seemed to have inferior quality compared to Linksys. This included lost/weak signal, increased latency, and dropped packets. I will have to say that I was very skeptical when I purchased this. However, being that the price was $79.99 and the comparable Linksys model was $149.99 I figured I would give it a shot. I could always bring it back within 30 days if I was not satisfied. Installation was easy. Plug in and go. Setting up WPA security was a little more difficult than the Linksys routers I was used to, but not by much. The biggest problem I had was figuring out how to turn off the stupid blue light that illuminate my living room. Guess I should've read the directions as my wife suggested the first time. I am completely satisfied with this router. Netgear has restored my faith in their brand. I have not had any problems since I installed the router two months ago. Signal is great and speed is amazing. Even when we're watching Netflix on the Roku, the wife is using her laptop, my friends are over using several laptops and iPads, and there are several smartphones all simultaneously connected, I can still play Starcraft 2 without any lag....at all. TL;DR This router is awesome. I highly recommend it!

Dont believe what the techs tell u about this unit here.. Im using it for two floors n the range sucks.. Save ur money n stick with single band or spend more for something that really works.

Does not perform at all as advised by salesperson.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointing performance. No better than much older router which it replaced. Sales person said the range would be up to one block, which is certainly not the case with this unit, even with the use of a "booster" unit to extend the range.

This product did not work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product brand new and when I brought it home I spent 3 hours on the phone with Netgear customer service. They told me the product had been on the shelf too long and I needed to download upgrades. I was not very happy, it was a new product, I returned it and bought a Linksys for the same price.

Good value, good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second one in 3 months, so I am kinda gun shy reliability wise. I am not 100 percent sure that this was the router, it might have either been the storms, or the Time Warner Business Class modem. So, I got this and a battery backup/surge protector I am an IT tech by trade, and I love these! VERY cheap for a dual simultaneous band. I work at Cisco and you would think that I would prefer Linksys products. Not so, the software with them is very inferior and the routers almost force you to use their software for setup. Netgear on the other hand, easily allows you to bypass all the software and just manually set up Took me all of 3 minutes to be up and running I use the older G style 2.4 ghz band for my legacy devices like my WII and a custom firmware Linksys router that acts as a wireless hub for my TV, etc that hardwire into it. I use the newer N 5.0ghz for any device that supports it. All is good, never lose signal and bandwidth is good. I would like to see higher signal strength but other than that I have no negatives

Great Router, Fast, Easy to Setup - 5 stars!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My D-link 624? router croaked and bought this to replace it. Why the 3400? 600Mbps transfer speed (you normally see on $100-$200 routers, wireless + 4 ports + a USB external storage port (I could hang an external drive off it for everyone in the house/network to use) AND it's Dual Band! Wife downstairs on other side of house was getting 1-2 bars, now gets 4-5 bars signal strength & much faster on web. Took 10 minutes to plug in and set up! Were all out at my local store, drove 10 miles to get this model at another store, well worth it!

entirely satisfied
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me begin by saying that I am not a particularly sophisticated user. I have a basic understanding of the concepts of computer hardware tecnology and software. I wanted to drop the costly monthly fee for 3G wireles for my lap top. The logical choice was to purchess and install a wireless router. My cable provider wanted $49.95 to install there router, which seemed reasonable. However this came with a monthly $9.00 fee for what appeared to me to represent no additional cost to them for the service, Forget that. So I went on line and familiarized myself with the concepts behind wireless routers including the various features appertaining there to. I then looked at the reviews for the many brands and models out there in my price range. The Netgear N600 wireless router seemed to represent the best features, performance, and value in the price range I was looking at. The majority of the reviews gave it 4 stars. There were the few expected unfavorable reviews. Certainly buying any product carries risks but at this price the risk was acceptable. Installation was relatively simple and easy. I just had to contend with the fact that the was no second output from the cable modem to connect to the router and so I ran the modem output into the router and then ran the router output link into my computer. This established all the connections necessary for both the router and my computer. I then installed the supplied start up CD into the CD driver and followed the clear directions. In a matter of minutes I had a trouble free wireless connection for both my lap top and my i-Phone. After a recent electrical storm I had difficulty with the the wi-fi link, but this was easily fixed in a few minutes when the link requested a password input. The lap top link was quickly re-established. Re-connecting my i-Phone was a little trickier and required signing onto the online Netgear router login web site via my desktop. I followed the instructions for installing a new client, et voila, my i-Phone was quickly reconnected. So those are my experiences withe the Netgear N600 function as well as with with problems and solutions so far. Range is very good considering the router is in my bedroom in the furthest corner of the house and there is good signal strength up front in the livingroom. I have had the Netgear N600 for a month and so far so good. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone who shares my level of capability and wants a wireless router that is easy to install and use.

Very good router- Great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this router to replace a D-Link that was free with FIOS install couple years back. Wanted dual band for current and future requirements. Fairly easy to install. I did not use the disk. Big improvement in performance. Much more than I was expecting. Have had zero problems, no signal drops or reboots. Very happy and at $70.00 on sale you can't do better.

GREAT Router!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading many reviews, this router consistently received excellent reviews for speed and reliability. It has won several awards as well. So, I went ahead and took the plunge, knowing that Best Buy would let me return it if it didn't work out. I unpacked the router and had it setup and working in a matter of minutes! The instructions were very easy to follow in setting up my password protected network. As a "techie", I wanted to dive into all of the setup options. I was impressed with the level of advanced options available. I went ahead and added a password protected guest network. Often, we have 11 devices all connected at the same time and the performance has been excellent. It has been running smooth now for a few months with no reboots required. I've been happy enough with this purchase to take the time to write a positive review... hopefully you find this helpful in your research.

Not good for larger homes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paid double the price of my previous Wireless router and it does not cover near the range. Had to buy extra "antenas" to get coverage throughout 4,000 sq. home.
