This is the second one of these I've purchased. The first one died within 24 hours and this new one won't even connect.

Bought this router to replace my other one which just a cheap, basic router. Setup took maybe 5 min and it works great. I love the dual band capability, it made things go so much quicker and I don't have to wait for videos to buffer anymore. I would recommend this router to anyone looking for a decent router at a reasonable price. Also everyone talks about how the blue light is really bright and annoying but all you have to do is click the top button and it turns the light off.

    Good router for the price

I had bought this to replace a Linksys E1000 that was only a few months old and still functioning. The E1000 caused my Lenovo laptop to blue screen after I connected via wifi (which is probably not Linksys's fault, but I have no say in what laptop they give me at work, so the router had to go). I know what I'm doing and don't necessarily like CD's that come with routers. But, this one's setup worked fine and configured easily. The setup app froze up in the last step, but it had already done the setup by that time so all was well. I never had a dual band router before. I was hoping all my N devices could go on the 5GHz band, but just the Lenovo laptop was able to recognize it. All my other devices (Android phone, Roku, netbook) went on the 2.4GHz band. It is working fine, and the laptop does not blue screen anymore. I was originally considering the gigabit N600 but the price was worrying me. Then, someone pointed out this router is identical except for the gigabit local network support, which I don't need because my devices usually connect over the Internet rather than communicate much with each other. The price savings by doing without gigabit speed is well worth it. Its admin UI (in the browser) is a little ugly and not as pleasant as the Linksys routers tend to be. I suppose I could try installing DD-WRT, but what is built in is working fine so far so I have not messed with it. I've had it for 2 weeks, so I can't speak for its long term reliability yet.

Set up is very difficult and the router has horrible range. I have to reset this router at least 3-4 times a week.

    Strong Signal

I was upgrading my Linksys wireless G router and wanted a new wireless N router to take care of all of our networking needs in our house. Our router is located on the 3rd floor in our house and I needed a wireless router that was able to reach the basement for the xbox. The first one I bought the D-link 815 could reach the basement with the 2.4 ghz band but not the 5ghz. From what I have read the 5ghz signal is weaker in any router you buy but still I expect better performance. So I did more research and settled on the Netgear and it's 5ghz signal reaches the basement with no issues and my apple TV on the 1st floor also has a great signal and all the computers and gadgets in the house are working great. No signal loss and no issues. We can all be online and also stream movies with no hesitation in any signal regardless if we're on 2.4 or 5ghz band. setup was easy just use the webpage set-up and not the CD. I did call in to their customer support about connecting a hard drive to the USB port and the person had no clue so I just gave up!

    Excellent Router (At&t - U-Verse)

I bought this as a substitute for the At&t wireless modem (The creepy Motorola modem provided by At&t). It really works more than I expected. First of all, the installation and configuration was really quick. Once the setup is complete, the NetGear Genie app was popped up for the installation, without knowing it, I just wanted to give a try. I installed it in my laptop and later I found that the Genie App provides most of the features in a single click. All the other modems, you may need to open the default gateway and then wait till loading. This Genie app does everything for us. Few days back, I was given the Motorola NVG510 modem by the At&t when I took the connection U-Verse, the total CREEPY one, which has the wireless feature for just the name sake. The wireless signal was good, but the internet was too slow with the motorola modem, I found that the channel in the wireless could not be automatically changed, At&t customer care agents are experts to guide us to change the channels every time ( I almost switched between 1 to 11 all the day), every hour it would go offline. but the wired connection was good. Then I was looking for the wireless router, I have an impression with the Net Gear since my previous cable modem (another internet connection I have at my home), I wanted to give a try with the NetGear Router before cancelling the At&t U-verse. When I connected the NetGear Router, it gave me options 2.5 Ghz and 5 GHz, which you can find both in the wireless, (This option can be enabled using the Genie App). My mobile, TV and Laptop I have connected using the 5 GHz and the less consuming devices I connected using the 2.5 GHz option. The At&t speed is 6 MBPS (I know, the lowest speed in the market, but the highest internet speed that At&t can afford to, they need to install the cables - this is the reply I got when I requested for the highest speed at least more than 12 MBPS) and the router gives me the same speed for all the devices that are connected using the 5 GHz. I am very much satisfied and I now do not have to restart the modem or change the channels manually to get the maximum speed out of it. The Net Gear has the best wireless channel management which checks the nearby wireless channels and change to the perfect and free channel for the best connectivity.

    So Far So Good

Just purchased this yesterday for the great price of $69.99 with a 10$ off coupon! Love that about Best Buy! I owned a Netgear before that NEVER gave me any issues until it just died last month. I went with Netgear because it's a brand I respect. I love the design of the router. The black def. looks better than the white, but I'm confused as to why it's so big. It is actually bigger than my modem. However, connection was relatively simply. I was up and running within 20 mins. I plugged my BluRay player into it and was streaming my Netflix just as quickly! Connected my Iphone and looking to connect my wireless printer. I would def. recommend this product. Happy Shopping!

It seemed like it was very easy to set up; however, I can't be sure if that's because it was actually easy or because I didn't do it correctly. We have moved, and now the blue push-to-connect button doesn't seem to work. Grr. Haven't had any use for the usage monitor the site description brags about yet. Other than that, it's pretty fast and signal seems very stable. Nice looking product; kind of sleek and Apple-like. Came with what seemed to be very easy instructions and support- will have to give support a try now that I can't connect my laptop after moving!

I've had some trouble in the past with NetGear; mostly due to particular configurations just not working well. WEP security would drop my connection often, but WPA worked perfectly (on my WNR2000). Knowing this, I got this one set up in about 5 minutes (including a minute of running around trying to find scissors). The NetGear Genie (netgear admin gui) is incredible. Easy to use, and has all the options I wanted to configure. The connection is stable and the speed is great. I live in a condo complex where everyone is on wireless and I've had issues with interference in the past; not with this model. I have 2 PCs, 2 Nooks, a Bluray player, a wireless printer, and a smart phone hooked up with no problems. I work in IT. There are a few tweaks I made, which I would have thought to be standard (the guest wireless was turned off, but broadcasting for instance). I do think all but the most tech impaired people would have no problems with this.

    Great Router....Great Price

This is a great router, plain and simple. No problems setting up. In fact, I was up and running in just about 15 minutes. I'm not sure why the other people had issues and gave this router bad reviews. If you google it, you will see it is a great item. I have two laptops, PS3, XBOX 360 slim, and WII all hooked up and no issues at all. If you are a gamer, this is a no brainer purchase!!
