I bought this device to replace an older Linksys router that would not handle my Directv Apps. This unit was super easy to install, handles the Directv apps with no extra steps from me, is super fast, as has not dropped a signal yet. I would definitely recommend this model if you are looking for a new router!

I had previously purchased a CNET router shipped by ANT ONLINE (STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!). Fortunately Best Buy reimbursed me the return postage (ANT ONLINE posted it was a 300Mbps, when they actually shipped a 150Mbps and refused to reimburse to return the wrong product). So I walked into a Best Buy store where they always have people who knows what they sell and I explained I need a router for long range so I can use my iPad way back in the backyard. The signal is strong and stable. This product has a lifetime warranty! I am very happy with the product and with Best Buy.

Great router with many great features & price

This router works very well and was easy to set up as a replacement to an old unit. Would be nice if the setup program would step you through more of the choices, but does give some info on the page about the options. The lights on the front face of the unit do a great job of showing how it is working and what is going on with the data and connections. I have not tried the push to connect feature as all my connected devices are using the shared password security. I have a Wii, XBox 360, 3 TiVo's, a Blu-Ray player, a laptop and 2 other computers connected and I am getting great speed and no problems. Only problem was the 2 old computers had old Microsoft B band adapters and they did not want to work with it, I replaced them with new N band adapters and no problems now. The one bad thing is the light on the top of the unit, or side if placed vertical, is very, very bright. The room it is in is lit up well enough to see clearly. Also the light flickers as the data is passed so you get a strobe effect almost.

    Great connection for internet

I really love this connection. Simple to hookup. Tried to hook up my desktop but my dsl plug in back of desktop wasnt working right so I took it in to best buy to fix. So right now my computer has been in best buy for one month for repair. Best buy really messed up on my computer but my netgear wireless is still doing its job and working great. So meanwhile I am using it for my Ipod and my son uses it for his laptop, my daughter uses it for her laptop. Whats great is that my daughters laptop is about 200 feet away in her house from my netgear router. She had the netgear N300 which didnt work from that far a distance but this N600 does. The salesman at best buy did me a great favor by suggesting this N600. My daughter even uses it for netfix. Cant beat this product.

I traded up (through my DSL provider) an old Westell DSL modem / Wireless-G combo unit for a plain DSL modem. I added the Netgear Wireless-N router. From the time I walked in the door with both items, to up and fully functional, took no more than ten minutes, literally. I use "literally" in its literal sense, too. Literally. We get blanket coverage of the northern two-thirds of the house,. and with our Netgear range extender, it covers the garage, the front porch... well, without knowing the layout of the house, these comments are meaningless. Still, we are fully satisfied. My wife has a home office, and she's quite impressed. Her performance is very much improved. I recommend this puppy to everyone. Oh, and it looks really nice.

    great router for the price

Went into Bestbuy and saw this on sale for $59. Bought it and had it up and running in 5 minutes out of the box. For those with some computer fortitude, forget about the installation CD and go right to the quick startup and log directly into the router from your browser... you'll be up and running in minutes. If you have trouble even connecting an ethernet cable, you should try the installation CD... or call one of your friends that can get it up and running in 5 minutes. This isn't rocket science, but those that are not familiar with router technology will be lost. (thus call tech support in a foreign country and then complain it doesn't work) Replaced a old LinkSys that just stop working and this blows it away with it's dual band and many great features such as the Guest Access point and USB port to connect an external HD. Highly suggested if you can get it for the $59 price. There are blue LEDS that bllink, but mine is hidden so i don't see them anyway.

    Works perfectly, fastest speeds achieved!

Bought this to replace an old Belkin that was delivering very slow speeds. This one has given me the fastest download speeds I've ever reached, as fast as 2.7 megs a second. Practically installed itself, no hassle. I think I got a rogue bit of malware the other night that knocked my internet connection offline. Restarting the router and the modem had no effect. Then, I happened to load up the NetGear Genie application on my laptop and it repaired the problem in seconds! Glad I didn't have to get on the phone with tech support from the cable company or NetGear. Overall very satisfied with this router!

    Great Router

My house is approximately 1,600 sf and this router is strong enough to reach all the rooms of my house. We have one laptop, an iPad, mobile phones, and then we also use it for Netflix on our blue ray and Wii. I highly recommend this router. It looks large in the photo, but it's fairly small, so it's not an eyesore. I recommend placing in a central room in your house.

Easy to install (took under 20 minutes). Once I had it setup I was able to connect things to OpenDNS to assist with keeping my children who all have devices safe and away temptations on the internet. The device also allowed me to setup a Guest wifi that is even more restrictive. Very cool.

Works throughout our house even at 5mbs

We live in a typical St. Paul suburban 2-story house. The router is in the basement. We have no trouble accessing the WIFI on the second floor (even at 5mbs with our MacBooks that support this speed) or on our screen porch. I'm not a big fan of wireless routers because I think they're largely huge security holes if not managed properly but my wife and two college age sons love it. We've had a number of brief thunderstorm caused power outages over the last couple of weeks and the router rebooted and reestablished our connection with Comcast each time all by itself (very happy I didn't have to reboot everything). I don't think there was a model available when I bought it that had gigabit Ethernet; there is now. Wish we had gigabit Ethernet directly through the router rather than having to use an Ethernet switch. It's been a rock steady router so far (over a year) so I'd recommend it.

Works well in 2 story house

I got this router because my old one wasn't covering my whole house (~2700 sq. ft). I had to fiddle with the antenna a little once I set it up, but after running some tests in each room in my house, I found that I was getting roughly the same speed in each room (not even close with my old router). After using it for a few months, I haven't really had any problems.

    Great upgrade router

Great dual band router. Bought it after we purchased a new DVD player to transmit a strong signal for the wireless capability and use with Netflix. Router has 2.5 and 5G transmission. I struggled to get the router set up and nearly returned it until I discovered the need to clear the cable modem IP address. Thought I had done it by unplugging, but the unit has a battery backup that also needed to be removed. Once that was done, easy to get it working. Signal strength on the main and upper floors with Macbooks is good, not great for the DVD in the home theater room, but it's working. Guess it depends on your home size and configuration, our home is about 4,500 square feet.

I wasnt sure if I should get the cheaper version of this router at the price of around 45 bucks..I decided it wasnt worth the risk and got this one. I hooked it up in no time and now I have my laptop,Xbox 360 and My kindle fire all running on it. Its great to finally toss the ethernet cables and lessen the spaghetti all over the floor. It was quick and easy to set up and works just as I expected and needed it to. I get a full signal all throughout my apartment..even in the bedroom. Its solidly built and very attractive on top of all that. Couldnt be more pleased with this Unit..its a solid investment for sure. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent router from Netgear. This router supports five separate devices throughout a pretty good sized two bedroom apartment. I have two devices (tower computer and Xbox 360) directly connected to the router and I also use three wireless devices (tower computer, laptop computer, and cell phone). Often these devices are being used simultaneously. I have a great wireless signal through the entire apartment and I am even able to receive a fairly good signal outside by the garage. This router has great built-in features and the installation process was very simple. This is a great router for almost any home or small office setup.

    Decent Router for the Price

This is a pretty good router, with dual band (2.5 and 5ghz frequencies) at N speeds, but I had some issues with the first one I purchased during the setup, where it refused to issue an IP address to my hardwired desktop or let me access the config page. The second (and third for my parents) router I bought worked great.

Purchased as a replacement for a very dated entry-level Netgear: installation was simple, and I was up and running in under 10 minutes. Only problem is that I have no devices capable of connecting at 5.0ghz...but the 2.4ghz works well. As others have pointed out, the blue "dome light" is hideous, but one click and it's off. In areas with multiple wireless networks (condos, etc) you may have a problem with the auto mode for channel selection. Once I settled on a channel that worked manually...no problems at all.
