Bought this to replace my wornout netgear router that I had had for the last 5 years. Easy setup(out of box to connected about 12 minutes) Signal strength is great in 2300 square foot home with 2 levels. What else can I say, it does what it is supposed to do. How excited can you get about a router

Ordered online and rushed to BB for pickup, told salesgirl that I had just ordered, she said no problem and took one off the shelf and did paperwork in only 2 mins. Back home it only took a few mins for basic setup (I kept the network name and password supplied but it would only be another couple of mins if I wanted to change) and it was working. Other devices found network quickly and were added with no problems. Also purchased a new wireless printer and it found and was put on the network quickly. All in all it was a painless experience and I would recommend this router to everyone.

    Easiest router I've ever installed

Worked amazingly quickly. As soon as unpacked, I wrote down the info on the side of unit so that I'd have it in easily accessible place and large enough to read (eyesight not what it once was). Connected to Comcast black box with yellow cord and powered up. Attached computer ethernet and by time I powered up computer it automatically recognized Netgear router and wanted password. We were connected as soon as password entered. We did download the Genie utility and discovered that we could make the printer attached to computer visible for printing off the network. This was an unexpected pleasant surprise. (Router also has a USB where printer or hard drive or any usb device could be connected and shared by all users of network) We were updating a computer network that has been used for 7 to 8 years and because of IPAD not finding connection , we decided it might be a technology problem. Updating the network seemed to be the easiest place to start. Once we had new router up and running we turned IPAD WiFi on, the network was there and we entered the password. We were connected. We had to connect the IPAD directly to the computer to get the update done as the operating system was so old, the choice did not exist in the settings. Once the update was done, it connected to the network and works great. We then tried printing and it prints to the printer which is physically connected to the computer which is wonderful. The printer could be physically attached to the router but it is located in an out of way area. We are happy with router and would definitely recommend.

    Great router for the money!

This router is so much more better and reliable than the WNDR3700 model. Before buying this WNDR3400, I had actually purchased a WNDR3700...which had turned out to be a piece-of-junk router. The connection would drop every 10 mins and it gave chronic heartburn to me and the tech-support guy in Chennai for several days. Finally the NetGear Tech Support guy suggested that I try this WNDR3400 model - which has been a song so far. Easy to set-up, easy to pair - on both the 2.4G and 5G Bands...and I love the ability to grant the 'guest' access to visiting family or friends. Overall this product is probably the 'crown jewel' in NetGear's Router Line-up. Would have given an all 5-star if not for the poor functionality of the NAS/ReadyShare...

I purchased this to replace an old router that was becoming unstable. I found the installation simple using the supplied disk. The hardest part was figuring out just how the feet snap onto the case. Am using it to provide wireless internet to one desktop, two laptops and two "Nooks" scattered over a medium-sized two story frame house. Signal strength and net speed are excellent throughout and onto the patio, too. Only problem has been a need to restart following a couple of power and isp drops.

My technology know-how is slightly above average but I think anyone can setup this router. It was SO easy. We have it hard-wired to our desktop and use the wirelss for 2 laptops, one PS3, and one tablet. It is awesome, in the two weeks that we've had it we have not had any problems. Oh, and both laptops are in different rooms at the far end of the house from the router.

    Great dual band router

So far, this router is performing as advertised. I have a wireless G and a wireless N client connecting through this router and neither have experience range issues or access issues. Performance is outstanding. I also run xbox live through the router, which hasn't been an issue. My old router needed to have a power cycle almost daily to get it connected to the internet, and I used to have my computer assigned a static ip just to access the router; so this new router has really made things easier for me. My one problem is the bright, blue light that shines from the click-to-connect button at all times. I would prefer a device that won't light up a room by itself, but it is a minor issue compared to the other benefits.

    What a Steal

I got this on sale for $50.00. What an increcible deal. I almost feel like I stole it! I get about 150 - 180 mbs sending and 250-300 receiving. My web pages and online videos are almost instantaneous as soon as I hit the enter button or click with the mouse. I built two rigs with wireless cards so I am not even hooked up with an ethernet cable. Both desktops and both laptops have shown amazing increases in send/receive over my year and a half old Belkin. I can use the laptops upstairs, downstairs, and from every corner of my 1/3 acre with no drops. This unit is fantastic.

I read the reviews for this product before I purchased it and saw people seemed to be split between love it and hate it. I decided to take a chance based on the pricepoint I was willing to pay. This is my first wireless router and I wanted to hook up my Playstation3, Wii, and Xbox 360 as well as my cell phone and LED TV. At the time I purchased the router I was between laptops so I was not able to use the setup disk. I was able to easily navigate to the given website on my Playstation3 and setup the router in about 15 minutes. I remembered all of the reviews that claimed the setup was too difficult and thought I could train a monkey to do this! I have all my devices linked in and the speed is amazing!

Replaced an old WRT54G linsys with this thing and the range improved. It was easy and simple to set-up and it looks cool with the blue light. I have it on the 3rd floor and barely get a signal in the basement. With the WRT54G I was getting NO signal down there so it was an improvement but I still had to buy a Wifi Extender that cost me $70. My old router wouldn't link up to the extender so I don't regret buying this thing. I probably would have bought the cheaper one channel one though. The 2.4ghz is strong but the 5.0ghz is weak so there's no point having it. There might be better features with this one but I don't know about them and don't see the justification for the higher $30 price tag.

    Great Router with incredible signal

By far the easiest router I've ever installed. I have an older brick home with concrete floors upstairs (yes upstairs) and down. The signal is strong throughout the house and covers most of the 1/2 acre lot. Dual signal design allowed me to use older components to link in additional computers and games systems on old wireless B connections as well as the N connections for my Bluray and new systems. I was also able to set up a seperate guest account on the slower network...now my friends with Ipads can access the internet without compromising my network.

Bought this product thinking that I could finally have dedicated internet connections for all devices (Computer, Laptop, DirecTv, PS3) but... NONE OF THESE DEVICES HAVE A NETWORK ADAPTER THAT CAN TRANSMIT/RECEIVE A 5GHz SIGNAL. Not the product's vault, but the dual band feature seems to be worthless until more electronic devices utilize the 5GHz channel. Still this router is faster and has much better range than my previous 54g router (circa 2004). Also, this router is better than most of the current selection of routers, and check out that price.

    Great For The Money

I bought this as my primary router for a home that was built almost 100 years ago to use with satellite internet service. My purchase was based on the positive reviews here and how it was much better than a router which won 2012 router of the year. It surpassed my connectivity capacity from my internet provider so it seemed like a perfect purchase. It's been a nightmare trying to get wireless networking throughout my entire home. The thick wood walls with concrete reinforcement inside make it nearly impossible to get signal beyond the front of the home which is more open. I've since purchased a signal booster also by Netgear that didn't help at all. I'm going to try Wireless Access Points in multiple rooms on the advice of the computer professionals at Best Buy. Under normal circumstances I would highly recommend this router simply because it delivers specs comparable to those twice the money. I can't blame the range and connectivity issues on the router because this is the 4th I've tried. And the best performing of the 4. Unless you are in the same unusual situation that I'm in with the house literally causing range and connectivity issues, this seems to be a quality router and the specs were better than a router advertised at nearly double the price which had won an award for 2012 router of the year from some PC Magazine. You have 30 days to return it. I would say under normal circumstances, try this one first. If you have to upgrade, you have a month to decide. And it won't take a month to hook up. I'm not tech savvy and depend heavily on advice from professionals and instructions for installation. But this was up and running having replaced the 3rd Router I tried in less than 10 minutes. It's hard for me to give a solid review of a product that is so handcuffed by the home it was purchased for. But the specs, ease of installation make it a great value. If you don't need more bandwidth, why pay for a 1 gig router? This is a dual band 4 port switch 600 max router for the price of half what some comparable cost.

The Netgear Dual-Band router works extremely well for our purposes in the apartment. We bought two actually and I have them bridged and communicating on the N-band with wireless connections on the G-band. Works very well, Netgear has immensely improved on it's setup software, bridge took a bit to setup, but auto setup took care of almost everything, was just as easy to setup as a linksys router. Routers can really handle a workout, three people play WoW in the apartment, two stream HD videos, download work, listen to music online constantly, they never get any downtime, but never get hot or slow down, they just keep trucking, great product, good price.

Good router, upgraded from wireless G

I bought this router to replace an older Linksys wireless G product. I wanted to move up to wireless N since I now have some products that use that newer technology. This router seems to have better range using the 2.4GZ band than the 5.0GZ band. I like the Netgear Genie which allows you to monitor activity on your network. I also like having the on/off switch and the switch to turn just the wireless on and off. I like, and use, the guest feature. It lets people connect wireless to the router without having access to your entire network, only the internet. Especially nice was the $60 sale price I received on the router just before Xmas.

I bought this on an in store recommendation from the Geek Squad as a replacement for an old Linksys G Router and was not dissappointed. It was extremely easy to set up and within 20 minutes or so I had two desktops, a laptop, an iPad, a smart phone and TV all connected. I also purchased a Netgear USB adapter for a desktop that doesn't have built in wireless capabilities and it also worked like a charm. I haven't had one connection issue with any device on the system in the month that I've had it hooked up.

The router itself has a decent signal for a two story house. If your house is much larger you may want to get a better router with a stronger signal. Works just fine here and it has been over a month. All devices in the house are connected to it and work fine.
