Great for gaming and streaming movies. The duel N-band is the best part of this router, had an issue with set up with the 5g signal but after an hour of messing with it it finally worked, would recommend not using installation cd that comes with router unless you have to. The online website for the router seemed to be easier and more helpful for set up, plus you can update your router at the same time. So yes, do buy for a great price and a good product that should not disappoint.

I was having issues with my previous wireless router. Installed the Netgear (pretty easy) and have had zero problems since. Seems to be an excellent product. I will purchase Netgear again.

A must have for wireless gaming!

I bought this to replace another Netgear wireless router Comcast provided with their service. That router could not keep up with the Xbox 360, PS3, iPhones, iPod Touches, Laptops, printer, and whatever else trying to connect to it. Whenever a new device would attempt to access the router, there would be a pause, or lag on all the other devices connected to that router. That router was also a bottle neck, not allowing me to utilize the full bandwidth of my internet connection. So I bought the N600 because it was on sale, and it had a lot of great reviews. Not just here, but also on CNet, and other online review sites. I couldn't be happier. This was a very simple swap out of the old router. Now I get full speed from my Internet, and absolutely no lag when other devices are trying to connect to it. I've been on my laptop playing CODBO, my son's playing online on their Xbox 360, and my wife streaming NetFlix through the PS3, all are wireless, with no lag what so ever. I'm very impressed with this router. The only negative I have is the somewhat shorter range of the 5GHz band compared to the 2.4GHz band.

Great Gateway but not so easy to setup...

I needed to stream Netflix and Pandora using a dedicated Wireless , have a Picture and Video Server to look at digital media arround the house (wireless) and also have a separated Network for any other wireless device in the house (aka. IPod, Computers, Online Gaming) and this device allows you to setup Two separated Wireless Networks using th same Gateway device. One Network transmits in 5Ghz and the other in 2.4Ghz ; typically you want to use the 5G as a ddicated to stream your most heay downloads (Netflix, etc..) since it is Faster and the 2.4G for the not so important stuff, but what the box does not tell you is that your hardware (computers, TV, BlueRay, Gaming system) have to have a special Network card to support 5G. At the end I could not use the 5G for what I wanted so I nded up only having everything connected to the 2.4G ; the only device that found the 5G signal was my Office Laptop. It still provides a great signal even when devices are in different floors and I'm happy with it. It was a bit of a hassle to set it up since I had to call their Netgear support number to set it up and find out about why my devices were not picking up the 5G. this product also allows you to share any USD jumpdrive or HDD as if it was Wireless enable and you can make it even public in the internet as a Website (loussy) but still does the job. Overall is a great purchae.

Best Router I have used so far

I purchased this Router to replace my old linksys G wireless router and this by far is a better router. It took only 5 minutes to install the software and have my internet up and running. It took several hours and lots of customers service call time with the Linksys G Routers. I am now a Neatgear customer for life!

Great device for the experienced person.

Let me start by saying I am not a tekkie, but I am a heavy computer user. This router replaced a Linksys router that was beginning to fail. I have now used this new router for a few months and it has performed flawlessly. It is more reliable and faster than the old Linksys. I would have rated it higher had the installation not been so difficult-probably a FIVE. For the novice computer user, buyer beware. The self install feature had me very optimistic at the beginning but that hope was soon dashed. I have an Apple IMac and these devices don't play well together during installation when you throw in active security software too. The directions neglect to tell you you may have to disable any security software. It took me two calls and almost two hours over the phone to get it to work. At the end of the first call, the Netgear rep said "I can't help you anymore than I have so you may have to return it and get a different brand." It was not working at that point. But he did make a comment that my security software may be the issue-I use the Comcast Norton Suite. I disabled the Norton software and called back and walked through a manual installation with the rep. After we did that, all was well but it took almost an hour to complete the manual installation. Had I not been more presistent, it would have gone back to Best Buy for an exchange. I am now very pleased with the product.

This router could not be any easier to install. Just follow the step by step installation CD. Just what I was looking for and with the dual band, I get no interferrences from my neighbors. If your ever in he Crabtree Mall Best Buy in Raleigh, N.C., look up their manager George, he talked me into this model and explained everything. He's the best. Thank you George & Best Buy

I purchased this product on a recommendation of a sales associate. I had been tied to Linksys forever, but since they've been taken over by Cisco the quality of they're products and tech support have suffered tremendously. This product took the place of three others and works so much better. They're outsourced tech support does leave room for improvement, much improvement, but wth the ease of installation and use thankfully, you shouldn't need much.

I have 2 HD LED TV's, 2 laptops, 2 Iphones, and a Nook hooked up to this and I've not had any problems with it. It works fast and has good quality. It does tell you in the instructions that they don't advise that you change the password on the unit. However, if you want to anyway, it does not provide details as to how you would do that. That was the only down side. You have to go online to find that info. Otherwise, the set up was easy.

This is an awesome router! Extremely easy to set up and increased my performance by 35%. I have a 2400sq ft home and a converted garage that has exterior walls between the router and two other computers and I don't loose any signal strength or speed.

I love this router. I live in a huge size apartment (4 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath, frontroom, dinning room, 2 pantries, and kitchen) and the connection is great. We run 3 three laptops, an all in one computer, 3 xbox 360's, and phones through this device wirelessly. Very minimal lag is experienced, although you need great internet service too. It is a great value. To install was extremely simple too, just follow the prompts. Great investment.

This is the fastest router I've ever owned. Setup was pretty easy, CD walked me through how to set it up on my own. There were two passwords that had to be setup and then once I was trying to get my laptop connected it wasn't clear which password was to be used. Thankfully there were only two options.... Other than that I definatley recommend this router.

I wanted a dual band N router that could provide full bandwidth to my Roku for watching movies on the TV and still get full bandwidth on my PCs. The Netgear router was the solution. It was under $100, set up was easy and provides great performance - 300MB. As long as it has a long life I'll be a happy camper. Also, the big blue light on top can be turned off by pushing it, simple on-off switch, unless you like being bathed in blue LED light.

Pros: easy to set up just like any other wireless router. I have it sitting in my family room at one end of the house and it reaches to my office at the other end (~65% signal strength). I was a little leery about getting a Netgear because I didn't have success in the past, but I've had no issues so far. I bought this a week ago today. Cons: no ability to hang off of walls or ceiling. Notes: I did not use WPS to set up device.

I've set up several routers over the years. Some have been really easy, some I've just about thrown in the trash. I'm in love with Netgear. I'd set up a 300 for a friend earlier in the day and had been trying to upgrade mine at home for a while. Once I saw how easy the setup worked on hers, it was back to Best Buy for me, but I went with the 600 since I do more over my network. Had a small glitch setting up, but fixed that quickly and I was still done in 15 minutes. Set my notebook up and it's happy. iPad is working well, just need to set my phone now. Signal appears to be strong and stable. Again, this is another router that you should not need a "tech person" to set up. Instructions are basic and easy to follow. I'm now interested in seeing how the USB port works with it. I have a backup drive that would be great to set up with it.

    Quality, Mid price router

The wndr 3400 is a mid-range router with some pretty nifty high end qualities. Essentially, this is the same wireless unit as the wndr3700, just without the gigabit Ethernet ports. If you prefer wireless over wired connections though, like me, This won't bother you one bit. Very easy to install and functions well if you know how to read and follow simple instructions. Overall, good router for its price!
