good first impression
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got mine yesterday. I am reasonably but not very tech-savvy. I used the included CD for installation. The first thing the CD did was offer to download the latest drivers, so that was good. This is my third router in 12 years of broadband. It replaced a 6 year old linksys which blew a port. The unit can be placed horizontally or vertically with the enclosed stands. This is my first draft-N router and I am glad to finally have that as one of my notebooks can use the faster speed. One peculiarity of this unit is the big bright blue button right in the middle. It's supposed to help to "quick connect" wireless devices. Kind of a gimmicky and unnecessary thing. It's mainly I think a "look at me" cosmetic device. It has 8 very bright LEDs that do nothing, except 2 of them blink in synchrony with the 2.4 wireless LED on the side. It's way bright and annoying to me in a dark room, so I just turned it toward the wall. Makes a nice nightlight. I wouldn't let it keep you from buying the router. It also has a USB port for connecting a shared storage device, which may be handy to some folks. At any rate, I got this unit on sale, ten bucks off, and if it continues to work well, I will be very pleased.

Great Wireless Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought several other routers and wirless devises in the past from brands such as Linksys & Netgear and this one was easy to install and use just like the others. The security seems to be decent, taking into consideration the number of wireless networks in my neighborhood. I like the speed offered by this wireless connection, I have a 10 Mbps internet connection and it does a good job keeping up with my internet demand.

Great value but only good function
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So after my home network went nuts, Comcast concluded I needed a new wireless router. This seemed like a good fit. And it is. But I can't help but feel like it's a step backwards. The old network I had worked out of the box. I didn't need to spend an evening configuring, etc. This one works now. It took me the better part of an evening to get there. The problem was with the web interface. It doesn't seem to support setup from all wireless clients. It wants one of the clients wired to get into the secure system. Very frustrating as we don't have a desktop computer at home anymore.

Good running router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this router to connect a wireless ps3. Hadn't messed with networking stuff in years. Went through the web based setup and was online within 5 minutes and trust me I am no networking genius. I also connected a 1TB hard drive and everything works great with that. I got this thing back in early October, everything runs well for the most part. The ps3 connection can be a little bit jumpy, but I think this may be a limitation of the ps3 though. I have my router setup on the other side of the wall from the ps3 so signal is not an issue. Anyways good router.

Everything Has Worked Like a Charm
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this about 10 days ago for $79. Setup was 20 minutes max, including the time I spent walking around and resetting the wireless network on the various devices in my house. At the Best Buy store, one of the guys on the floor says he has also worked in the Geek Squad. He says he routinely recommends and installs this wireless router for customers who hire Geek Squad for home setup. He actually steered me away from a more expensive model to this one. I am most impressed with the range. I have this set on my TV stand on the first floor. I get a great signal even in my 3rd floor attic. This is a 95 year-old house with 9'+ ceilings and plaster walls/ceilings, so I am impressed. With 7 different devices that have been connected, not one has dropped out so far. I'm positively impressed.

GREAT ROUTER
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.IT TOOK A LITTLE WHILE TO INSTALL THE ROUTER SOFTWARE, BUT ONCE INSTALLED THE CUSTOMIZATION WAS EASY. VERY SIMPLE TO SET UP THE SECURITY FEATURES, IT UPDATES IT'S FIRMWARE AUTOMATICALLY. SO FAR I HAVE HAD GREAT WIRELESS CONNECTIONS WITH MY LAPTOP AND NINTENDO WII THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE. VERY FAST PROCESSING DATA. I WAS HAPPY WITH THE PRICE AND PERFORMANCE OF THIS ROUTER. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ROUTER TO OTHERS.

Best wireless router I have ever had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had multiple wireless routers in my house over the past 7-8 years, and this is by far the best one I have ever had. It is SIMPLE to install and the signal is MUCH stronger on my wireless devices than others I have had. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more to get this unit vs. going the inexpensive route for the entry level wireless routers that are out there. You will NOT be disappointed.

WORKS LIKE A GOD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works flawlessly I've never had a problem with it ever. I get the speed guarenteed by my provider all over the house no matter the distance from the router. I pay for 30mbps and even when using xbox live and being on facebook on my laptop at the same time I average 29mbps. Works flawlessly it's an amazing product.

5 GHz is very useful for WLAN streaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a WNR3500L (first version) as my primary router. Everything about the router is working perfectly and has premium features like Gigabit ports and IPv6 for less than 50 dollars. My apartment has lots of neighbors that interferes with my WLAN streaming so I decided to purchase this to add a 5 GHz functionality. This router is super easy to setup as an AP with the 2.4 GHz band off. I found out that unlike the WNR3500L, this router does not support IPv6. As an AP, it can pass through all of the features by the WNR3500L such as QoS, IPv6. In addition, Readyshare USB also works so I now have 2 USB mass storage on my LAN (1 on the WNR3500L and the other on the WNDR3400). My only gripe is the lack of GIgabit ports but I prefer a reliable connection and reviews here made my decision to purchase this. Hope this thing can last more than 2 years before I move to WiFi AC.

Doesn't work for X-box live
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router, set up really easy and my wi-fi was running great -- until my son tried to log into x-box live. Unfortunately, I should have checked the list of compatible routers. This one is not on the list. We tried setting changes, called x-box live (not at all helpful) and called netgear (even less helpful) with no success. If you on-line game, don't waste your money. Otherwise it's a great router.

Easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My biggest fear was how to set this router into my system. I do not have much technical skill. There was a single sheet of instructions and it listed a very simple step by step procedure. It could not have been easier. In less than 15 minutes, I had everything working, my printer, my phone, my iPad, my computer. The router looks good, fits into my scheme and works very well. Completely satisfied.

Good Value For Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price was right for this item, on sale at $20.00 off the regular price on Black Friday. I initially had a few snags setting it up, as the needed info was missing from the sealed box (which seemed odd.) I was able to find the needed info myself with an online search. Otherwise, setup was easy. I've found it has good range, as I use it for multiple devices in (and outside!!!) a two story home.

Great wireless router for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally had a first-gen Netgear MIMO wireless router and while it was flashy, it would constantly drop my laptops' connections forcing me to restart the router at least once a day. Over the course of ~6 years I went through a couple routers before settling on a Belkin, which was reliable, but was very lacklustre on settings/options. I recently gave the Belkin router to a friend of the family and was in the need for a new router. The price point of the N600 was low enough to warrant giving Netgear a second chance and boy am I happy I did. The first thing I noticed upon setting up the router was at the sheer number of options I could control in the settings, probably twice as much as my last Netgear and Belkin router. Features I found unique for a sub-$100 wireless router: Dual n-band/antennae allows for two distinct connections to the router (300 + 300 Mbps), ability to have two non-private SSID associated with the router (allowing people to connect to your router without a password or access to your internal network), and individual connection bandwidth limiting (something usually reserved for expensive routers or requiring a dedicated machine). As well as the standard above $40 QoS and WPS options. The only major flaw I found was that the push button for enabling WPS doesn't seem to work (though it does seem to turn on and off the front LED lights) and instead I must manually go into the settings to connect devices to the router using WPS.

GREAT ROUTER
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this router for a month now. It works great !! Much better than the Belkin it replaced. No problems at all!! I use it to handle the lap top, the wireless desktop, and the PS3 (wired). No disconnects, no problems when I'm gaming, wife on desktop, and laptop logged on to enternet. All at the same time. I love it!!!!!!!!!!

instant speed/reception improvement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my previous wifi router with this one as there are so many items within a home that connects to wifi. Speed test on my computer increased 4x from the earlier single band router I used and I could work outside on the beck as the signal radius was also increased. Set up was very easy and choosing your own security pass phrase was a great choice for my needs. I recommend this unit.

Great Features and speed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 of these - one is the base unit and the other is an Access Point. I love the way Netgear designed this to be able to set one as an access point and configure this so easily. I very much like the dual band features - I use the 5G and let the kids have the 2.4G band. Only negative is the lack of documentation on the way the cables are supposed to be plugged in Access Point mode.

Perfect Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been the perfect router for my quick transitions in life. I originally purchased it for an apartment when I was in graduate school and it worked flawless for myself and my 3 roommates. It has also has no issues in the 4 bedroom, single-floor house I recently moved into and has met all my streaming and gaming needs - that's about all I can ask for.
