This router is used in a fairly large one floor home with finished basement. The router is set up in the basement and gives the whole house perfectly fast wireless speeds at around 15mbps. It can hold numerous devices on its wireless connectivity and its all secure right out of the box. It was very easy and fast to set up! Would recommend this to all my friends and family.

    Great all-around router

Prior to buying this router I used the standard wireless router that comes free from your ISP, as well as a Linksys WRT54G that had been flashed with the dd-wrt firmware. Both were 802.11b & g. They worked fine for normal internet surfing but didn't work well for streaming video to other parts of the house. I ran CAT5e cabling throughout to facilitate video. I wanted to give 802.11n a try so I bought this router, and what a huge difference it made, even on machines that don't have N! I can seamlessly watch video over wireless even on an 6 year old laptop using just the 2.4GHz band. I have switched to using the wireless network even within my home office where I telecommute half time. My job is related to internet video streaming, and I sometimes monitor 4 or more simultaneous streams. Works great. I also like the guest network option so that I can give guests internet access but keep them outside of my home network. CNet gave this router high marks for performance and I can definitely confirm those results. I have the router in a 2nd floor room and I have fantastic coverage throughout my home. You can also connect a USB hard drive or memory stick directly to the router and access those files on your home network. Highly recommended. The only thing it didn't have was gigabit ports on the built-in switch, but if you need that they have another model that has it.

I used this to replace an existing router trying to get better range for outdoor use and it seem to have solved my problems with disconnects. It was very difficult to set up and I think that was because of the existing router and having to override it. But, once working, it has given me no problems.

I would have given this a 5-star rating, but it took me a day and 2 phone calls to get it set up. At first I thought it was the router, so I called Netgear, then I found out it was the cable company. Once I got it set up, I found it to be more powerful than my previous router, and I haven't had a problem yet. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the market for a router!

Took me about 5 minutes to set this up. I kept having trouble with my Cisco router cutting in and out. The signal also wasn't strong enough to reach the basement from the top floor. This not only doesn't cut out, it gives me a 97% signal in the basement. Those were the two most important things to me.

If you're looking for a router for a modern household, this is a good run of the mill, reliable router. You don't want to go much cheaper than this for the sake of reliability and unless you're into stuff that requires super fast internet (i.e., gaming, downloading, etc.) then this serves your needs. Go ahead and "splurge," I did, and I think it was worth it.

There isn't any reason NOT to purchase this item if you're discriminate about your networking. It not only performs well - it's a great addition to other Netgear Wireless routers for 'repeating' (extending) your wireless signal and coverage. The only reason I gave it an "average" ease-of-installation grade is you should have _some_ networking background to utlize it for it's 'repeating' feature. Their higher-end 37xx model works flawlessly with this for too, not only repeating, but those units have additionally QoS features if you're wanting to stream video. You can't go wrong - even check-out the ratings for it's radio power too. (Google it for comparison guides - you'll see it's either #1, or 2nd from the top!)

I needed a replacement router cause my linksys crapped out. I told myself I would never by another linksys again. The Netgear was a great price, sub $100, and it was wireless N which is a step up from the G we had. I also wanted dual band, so this was perfect. It was fairly easy to setup, some hoops to jump through, but nothing difficult. Works like a charm so far.

I love this router. I had used a link sys, cisco and Airport express prior. None were able to deliver as well as this one. I have a lot of networks and interference in my apartment building and this comes through like a champ. Having the 5g option is great so if you start experiencing interference you can switch between the two signals to optimize your connectivity.

We are really enjoying our new router and can't wait to get more hooked up to it. We are able to stream movies, connect video games, and have had four computers online without any problems or slowing down. The only problem we have had is that we have to reset the system every couple weeks. Not sure if it's the router or our cable modem that causes this problem though.
