This router is deceptively simple to setup. IF everything goes right. I have setup numerous routers and this one by far has given me the most trouble. I have knocked 1 star off for this. Other than that it has been running great for the past few days and has great features. Has wireless isolation (to keep others from seeing your network but still give them internet,) guest networks, and the ability to use the CD to initially configure; the ip address of the router; or the web address. The drawback I encountered was that you HAVE to LOGOUT of the web page setup or else the router stays attached to the last computer it was accessed on. I always setup other routers first on my laptop and configure everything, then attach it to to the network router it's replacing. With this one the router was smart enough to change it's default ip of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 which through me off when trying to access it. So yea, this router is thinking for you and setting up things correctly behind the scenes. For a beginner it should be a snap and for an old tech it may seem too simple! P.S. You can also setup multiple virtual LAN's.

This was an extremely easy set up. Much easier than installing from a CD like my previous one. Would recommend changing password to "admin" so people can't see your SSID password. Also has a really good range. Worth the little extra cash for the router.

    No problems with NetGear

I have set up numerous wireless routers for others as well as for myself. I always use NetGear and have always been successful in getting them set up, making wireless connections to computers and peripheral equipment and making them secure. Installation is easy. There are no issues if the installation instructions are followed.

    Good Product for the $$$

Great product for the money. The only thing I am disappointed with is the range. I don't have an exceptionally large home (2200 sq feet) and my wi-fi signal isn't full strength when i'm in my bedroom which is no more than 30 feet from the router. Other than that, it great!!! Much better than the linksys it replaced.

Bought this to replace an old Belkin G-band only router. Huge improvement! No more dropped signal when one of our cordless phones is in use (2.4g also...), stronger signal, better security, etc, etc. Wirelessly connected to 3 x Nintendo DS's, couple of Droid phones, laptop, tablet, and Wii. WIred to XB360, and 2 PC's.

The installation was completed in eight minutes, and that included removing the pieces from the box and spending two minutes to determine how to attach the feet. The router activated immediately and the new laptop found the network during start-up.

This is my second of netgear routers to purchase and being employed at Best Buy I was able to get the facts on all the products. The first router from netgear seemed rather slow and unstable and about 30 minutes on the phone from netgear, it was running for a week or two. Then suddenly it started dropping in and out. Returned it for this router, the next step up. Set up wasnt as easy as ive seen in the past with outher brands, and sure enough about 3 weeks into it, the same thing started happening again. The location of the router is in a trailer home so there is very minimal restrictions, and the internet usage is mainly for surfing and occasional netflix. I switched it back to the old Linksys 54 router and i am getting quicker ping times and more stable wireless speeds. I dont benefit from the dual band yet so the only reason im keeping it is for the gigabit ethernet.

Upgraded from a g router to n. We have numerous devices connecting to the router, PS3, 4 laptops, wireless printer and a few smart phones. The old router would drop the signal several times a day. This one connects everything easily, quickly and reliably. Not a single dropped signal in the month we have owned it.

    Netgear N600 Dual

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Netgear N600 Dual Band set-up was easy but I had to go back and change the SID naming on the 2nd N band to another name because originally I named both bands the same SID name. My desktop PC which was connected by CAT5 and most of my other WI-FI devices [my laptop, ITOUCH, printer, Wii, and DROID] had no problems with the router and used both N bands. I really like the performance. I did have issue with my wife's older laptop (G band only) and my Verizon Hub locking onto the N or G band and staying locked. Also, my connection was getting dropped when I was on-line playing my Wii and my daughter on the PC. Now, I believe this may have been caused by my Hub swapping between bands. So, I had trade in the N600 for to a standard Netgear G band router. Best Buy had no problem allow me to trade it in. Everyhting is happy now. I talked to a co-worker, a week later, and he indicated the fix was to put the N600 into N only mode which resolved his Verizon Hub issue. I don't think the issue was with the router and I'll be purchasing another, right after my wife laptop brakes and she get's a new labtop with a N-card.

I bought this router on the recommendation of the sales associate to replace my old g router. It took me less than 10 minutes to have the secure wireless network up and operational. I just wish that it would have built in MAC filtering. Haven't tried the USB sharepoint yet. Overall I am very satisfied. Excellent!!!

The installation was pretty easy, once I was on the right website. :*)~ The router has lost power on several instances and there hasn't been any issues with the router. A little pricey for me. Just happy to have wireless back. We have also updated the Wii & it is now connected to. The kids are having fun with that. :*)~

Good Enough For FPS PC Gaming

Just sampled this product along with the N600 USB adapter. I have moved out of my house and into my sisters house temporarily. I've always had a direct ethernet connection for my gaming. My sisters uverse router is to far from my temp. bedroom to run ethernet across the house and 802.11g didn't cut it when I tried to play Battlefield:BC2 last night...it was laggy as heck. Her upload/downloads are pretty good and knew it was the wireless connection. Hooked this Wireless N router up (behind the uverse router)specific for gaming along with the adapter mentioned...as these two were the cheapest I could find that claimed good enough for gaming. Just got off BC2 for two hours and didn't experience any lag at all. It also actually improved my ping slightly as well too. If you need an affordable wireless router for your PC gaming or console, give these two a try.

Ok, I don't leave reviews often. But I feel I should on this one. Had a Netgear router for 4 years and then one day, overnight, it just went out. I purchased this one on 1/18/12. It really worked well and was easy to set up. Until 3/9/12, when this router quit working. Didn't even make it two months. Hence the one star rating. I am somewhat of a savvy tech/gadget guy. I went through troubleshooting along with checking with broadband tech support to see if it was the ISP. The router just quit. I know that there is going to be a reasonable amount of a failure rate with any mass produced product, that's just the reality of it. I see that ymcwawa also left a review on 3/14/12 I believe. I was afraid I was going to have to go through the manufacturer too since I was over the alloted return time stated on the receipt. I called Best Buy and talked with customer service. They said it was under the manufacturers warranty time and would exchange it for me. I was relieved I wouldn't have to deal with sending it to Netgear etc. This is the reason I will keep buying products from Best Buy. Saved me time and headaches and was back up and running the same day. Now, I don't know how long this one will last (knock on wood). The first Netgear router I had lasted 4 years, and was a basic wireless router. I hope this one will be ok and the previous one was just a fluke. Time will tell I guess. Good product as long as it keeps working. Kudos to Best Buy Customer Service.

So far the device hasn't given me any problems. I'm able to easily connect to all my devices. However, I did have an older desktop with a wireless linksys card installed that I couldn't get it to connect to the router, but the wireless card is probably 10 years old. I'll probably replace it with a newer card.

I like this lower cost item that enables me to get w-fi internet with my current DSL provider at no additional monthly fee. The speed is much faster than DSL only was except for streaming. It is the aid to utilize my smart HDTV content.

The router works great and it was not real hard to set up. This is the second one I have purchased. This was a Christmas gift for our son and his family. The first one I purchased for my use and it was a little easier to set up that this one. Son says the unit is working great and he is very happy with it.
