It does everything it's supposed to do, and it is fast and totally reliable, with excellent range. Installation required a call to my cable provider, but everything went smoothly.

I needed wifi that would penetrate several walls between my office in one corner of my home and the family room in the extreme opposite corner, about 120 feet away. I get a a good to excellent signal in the family room with the Netgear router.. Problem solved.

    Best decision I ever made

I had a Linksys n-router. It was slow and we had to constantly rest it. I was not sure where the problem was and my nephew told me it was the router and to replace it with a Netgear. I did so and it has sped up 650MB downloads that use to take 45-60 minutes to between 6-10 minutes even while my family is playing WOW. I have not heard a complaint about speed since I replaced it one month ago. The only problem was with the set up. I had to go online to Netgear to set it up instead of the CD that came with it.

2 steps forward, 1 step back

Folks, I do product reviews from time to time to encourage users to try a new product that has pleasantly surprised me. This time it was an exception. Like all products in the N600's market, multifuction wireless routers must be able to perform several different basic functions well, specifically: - Routing - NAT/PAT (the stuff that lets several computers on the same network use the Internet all at once) - Wireless Access Point This unit does all of the functions listed above, however, I question the value of its routing features. Just about everyone that plays on the same level as the N600 has a pretty comprehensive port-forwarding feature that allows you to program the "router" to route specific requests (using IP addresssing and TCP ports) coming from the Internet to a computer or device acting in a "server role" capacity. This can be anything from a gaming host system to remote desktop services or even a webserver. For what ever reason, NETGEAR did not include this function which surprised me because they have had it for years on older cheaper units that came before this one. You would be surprised how many times we as an IT integrator and small business consultant use port-forwarding. This reminds me of today's cell phones: they do many things, but sometimes, I just wish they would concentrate on the quality of the phone calls and the phone part of the unit. After all, that's why I wanted a phone in the first place, and this is also why I want a router who's primary job is to, well... route.

This was not my first choice but they were sold out of the Belkin router I wanted. I took a chance on this one because it looked good and said "Lifetime Warranty" on the box. It took exactly 15 minutes to unpackage it, read the instructions, install it and connect all my wireless devices. Very impressed with speed and using the new "N" wireless technology.

    Lasted Three Months

I bought this to replace my old Netgear WGR614. I never had any problems with my old one. Just needed a wireless N router. Setup was a breeze. Very strong signal, and fast speeds. But I had to reset it several times a month, due to dropped wireless connections. After only 3 months, it lost the ability to communicate with my cable modem. Reset after reset, will not fix it. Hooked up the old router, and I was back online. I swore I'd never try Linksys again. But I purchased the E1000 last night. Keeping my fingers crossed.

As a somewhat techie person, I was a tad bit overconfident in my abilties to set this thing up completely on my own. That's my fault. I contacted their tech support and was on my way in no time. (I had a compatability issue with one of our wireless devices.) I've not had a bit of problems with it since we got it operational. I know the tech support person was only doing their job, but I could have done without the cross selling attempt she made for some of their other products.

Super easy setup - poor covereage

Replaced a competitors existing WiFi that was failing. Setup was a cake walk - basically plugged it in and it simply setup everything and started working. Couldn't be more pleased! However after running for a couple of days we're finding the coverage is not a good as our old Brand-D. Repositioned, turned off dual-band, disabled guestnet, locked down channel, etc. Still not all that happy with the coverage in our 2-story wood frame home. Bottom line - performs well when you can get to it.

    Constantly drops signal

I bought this router bc mine is 5 years old and thought I'd get a better signal and maybe faster internet speeds with a new one. But trust the other reviews that say it drops the signal bc this drops signal when nothing else is using the Internet and I am 10 feet away. My $20 5 yr old router works better than this thing, it is going back to the store. It was easy to set up but that is the only good thing about it, not sure how it has so many positive reviews.

Easy to install, just I had to get used to it in the beginning because this was my first wireless modem, is not much different in speed from the not wireless modem.
