Was told this was the best wireless router I could buy from the bb rep.... i am having signal issues on the first floor of my house. this router is not much better than others i have tiried. Not getting anywhere near 300 mbs. this would be great for a single story home.

    Everything was great, until...

RangeMax really had me. I also saw that about 2,500 people gave it 4 0r more stars. But the reception was terrible. I'm in a small apartment. I upgraded and got the Linksys AC 1200. Works like a dream. If you have multiple devices (my family uses 10+) and do not want a slow conection, spend extra money and get a better router.

    Average but not the price

For the price I would have thought this item would have had a wider range and streaming would have been faster. I don't know if it is the router or our internet provider but for the price I could have gone with a much less expensive unit and had the same quality.

    Simply Painful

This router looks like it'll be great on the surface but frankly, it was an annoying experience. I was replacing a six year old D Link router that worked perfectly fine, it just didn't have the range I needed. I picked this up and initially, everything looked perfect. The laptop was getting a better signal in my living room and the wired connections were very quick. Then the laptop started dropping every five minutes. Annoying, but not insurmountable. I don't have any idea what I did (there aren't THAT many things to change in the settings) but that problem mostly went away. I had to do a bunch of port forwarding to get the X Box 360 to work--something I didn't have to do with my old one but again, not insurmountable. Simply annoying. My iPhone worked okay and got online eventually. My Mac Book Pro however, I could never get it to connect. I got connection timeouts and connection failures from it. I scoured forums for a couple hours and could not find a solution. Then the router dropped overnight for no apparant reason and again, the forums were of little help. I'm returning this router as soon as I finish writing this up. I was very disappointed in the quirks and the general lack of support for the Mac was really obnoxious. I would not recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to enjoy some time reading geek speak on a bunch of internet sites.

NetGear not standing behind their product

I replaced a very old Linksys 54G(54 Mbps) with NetGear WNDR3400 dual 300 Mbps out of the box it’s slower than the 54G. I called tech support they knew exactly what to do to speed it up. My son’s Xbox is less than 15 feet away. He started complaining the 1st day that the wireless was fading in and out. For 5 months I called tech support and got no resolution. The 5 GHz channel has a range of 10 feet, Tech support said 5 GHz has less range. The 2.4 GHz has a range of 20 feet. After 5 months of calling I had one girl tell me she thought it maybe defective and they would send me a new router with an RMA. I waited 6 to 7 weeks emailed tech support and inquired where my replacement unit was? They replied with what steps I should take to resolve the issues myself. I replied informing them they agreed I had a defective unit and were going to replace it. After talking with NetGear customer service I decided to throw it away. I bought a Cisco E2500 it works great right out of the box and I now have wireless through my entire house again.

    Good product, awful customer service

The router I purchased likely is fine...once I can get it properly installed. My problem was that when I had difficulty getting it to work and returned to the store where I purchased it to inquire about help I had 1. a very difficult time finding someone to assist me or answer questions and 2. a run around as to why it wouldn't work on my system. This from someone who never really asked substantial questions about my AT&T account relationship but who was much more focused on getting me to drop AT&T and move to the cable system that BB was selling. It was a VERY unsatisfactory experience.

I waited six months to write review

I purchased this on September 07, 2011 and learned to wait to write my reviews. Good thing I did. I originally was drawn to this because of the LIFETIME Warranty. After six months the device would drop the internet three times an hour. After three tries and 3 1/2 hours on the phone getting through to NETGEAR customer support I learned what LIFETIME realy ment. There is only a 90 day warranty on the device and lifetime on the hardware. This means if it turns on it is not covered by their warranty. They offered me a $129.00 service agreement to fix a $79.00 router. When I pointed that out they offered me a six month contract for $79.00 to fix a $79.00 router. While this router was working, it worked great. After six months, look out and the hard to understand (out of US) customer service is non existent unless you have cash. If you buy this router please wait to post your review so we can get some feedback on here that may reflect the longevity of the device and others peoples opinion of Netgear customer service.
