worked great 2 years later its dead
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.there are a couple of these for sale that are refurbished so it seems like a common problem and after reading other reviews it seems to happen to most of them. but, worked great for 2 years and finally after 2 years just stopped registering there is an internet connection.

horrible so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.not an easy set up - took an hour on the phone with tech in india. And at first it worked ok but now, 24 hours later, is so slow that having more than 2 tabs open is a nightmare. Definitely taking this back and ordering a different brand.

Works for some devices, not for others
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to upgrade my wireless network from 54 megabit "G" speeds to "N" speeds. I got it to work with my iPhone OK, but it would not work on my netbook with ANY security enabled. My netbook and iPhone worked fine at "G" speeds on my old Netgear router and WPA2 security. I know I had all the settings correct because my iPhone worked perfectly. I upgraded to the latest firmware and reset all settings to no avail. I had to return this item to the store because it refused to work with all the products that I have with security enabled. I would disable security and everything worked fine, but I do not want to leave my network open to hackers.

TERRIBLE Customer Support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit and had the intial set-up done in 15 minutes. The problem came in trying to add printers, other laptops and then in using a work laptop via VPN. There were many problems. I called Netgear customer service and had people that kept putting me on hold to talk to a supervisor, I was hung up on (and not called back even though they took my number and was told they would call back), treated rudely and finally got a supervisor. The Supervisor took control of my PC and then started suffering the web looking for a solution to my problem USING MY PC. I took the unit back and am now very happy with my Cisco router.

Poor Router - Stay away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On the surface, this is a nice router for the price with all the features. However, I had multiple devices that would lose connectivity, and all my devices noticed a degradation in performance versus my old Netgear WGR614 router. With the 3400, Netflix had to buffer multiple times during 90 minute movies where my 614 never did, not once. The 3400 has dual band and guest access capabilities, but my devices would not stay connected 100% of the time. I would frequently have to reconnect. Had this less than 2 weeks and it's going back. Poor performance, poor quality. What happened Netgear???

Works But...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this router about 1 year ago when i first switched to cable tv and internet. for the first few months it worked flawlessly. i have 2 computers, 3 iPhones that were always on the internet, and a PS4 online simultaneously and no issues, after about 6 months, the internet started slowing down. And today, I can't even use my PS4 to watch movies without it pausing to buffer, keep in mind that my modem is providing me speeds of 51 mbps and the router is only giving me 5mbps even though the router is right next to me. And thats a BIG difference which is causing me to get a new router. Ive already updated the firmware on the router and still having issues.

Netgear Tech support is a ripoff scheme
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.works with one single wireless attachment. However, when more than one wireless connects to it, or one uses a wireless device such as a WII or DVD player with Netflix it drops connections over and over again. The only way to fix is by turning it off and on every 15 minutes. Call center is overseas and they refuse to help in any way and want to charge $100 to "reconfigure" the device. When I paid the money they merely told me to push a pin into the reset button in the back. (which I already had done because I am in charge of the IT department of an 8 attorney law firm and I made the mistake of purchasing several of these) While this made it better for a while, it soon started again. They are now authorizing a return and I am not sure it is worth the postage. In addition Netgear Tech Support is as clear a rip off scheme as I have ever seen. They went from being the best most respected in terms of products and support to the worst, and I mean so bad I am shocked.
