Not worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, this has been a nightmare purchase. I had to take one version back as it wouldn't work with my netflix. This version didn't work with my external hard drive. I finally had to purchase a separate hard drive that was one of about only five compatible drives causing me even more expense. I am passed my support time and have counted this as a complete loss for now. I will never buy this brand again.

network memory unreliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great router, but the network memory feature is unreliable. I have a usb hard drive plugged into it and I can only see it across the network about half the time. To fix this I have to reset power to the router.

Jumpy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this router up tonight and it appears to be a little "jumpy". I am in the same room as the router on a Macbook Pro and websites are a little hesitant. My son is running his PS3 and he said the same thing. Previously I had a Buffalo G and wanted to take advantage of the N+ technology I am paying for through Comcast. I am going to try a few more settings tomorrow and if I can not get this thing to work better, it is going back to the store. Also, it is MUCH easier if you opt to tell the system you do not have the disk for install. For some reason, the setup disk could not recognize my IP address from Comcast.

Tech support is terrible, foreign tech operators.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had problems getting my network to recognize my son's XBOX console. The console would show the network but the network would not assign an IP address and stay on. When it did assign an address it would kick you off when he tried to play on-line. I spoke to no less than 4 tech support people and spent over 6 hours on the phone with them. Only 1 was American and knew what he was talking about finally. Howeverhe istructed me on what to do and I had to call back in with the results and of course could not be put back with that technician so I had to start all over again and they did not know what they were doing.

wireless range not good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this model because it said it had the best range. If it is the best, I would hate to see the worst. The range is not as good as my 5 year old linksys.

Worked for almost 30 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I setup with ease and it was working fine for about 3 weeks and then it kept dropping connection. Contacted Netgear tech support and all attempts (5 - over phone and chat) did not resolve problems. Chat support ended chat sessions to get rid of me, I think. And one call to tech support, they told me that I only get support for installation and connection help, and that I would have to purchase additional time for tech support assistance. I had it for less than 30 days, you would think that they would give you at least that much time, if you run into issues like I did. Took product back and went with Cisco Linksys, which is the same brand I had for 8 years before I had to replace it and so far it has been great and was easy to install and use immediately. I will never buy a Netgear product again due to their technical support assistance!

Don't Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this router on 12/17/11. This is my 4th router in about 12 years. I consider myself a very knowledgable computer person. My first and second routers were linksys and then a netgear which functioned well for a few years before giving out. I figured I would give NetGear another try. Got home and hooked the router up which only briefly functioned when wired and wireless would not work at all. I have a PC, laptop, and XBOX 360. I spent 2 hours on the phone with TECH support and they couldn't resolve the issue (also was a foreign person, hard to understand). TECH support said they would call me back in 10 minutes after he further researched and I waited 2 hours. Returned the product to BestBuy and bought a Linksys (cisco) E1200 which I had working in less than 10 minutes. Overall , I would NOT recommend this Netgear because it didn't function and TECH support didn't know what the heck they were doing and failed to respond after they said they would call me back.

Don't buy netgear
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router worked well as long as i use the factory setting. I was unaware that tech support expires after 30 days. I needed to change my passphrase. I tried the online chat and after 30 mins of following their script, i was told they could not help. got on their facebook to complain. Someone did try to help but the instructions offered over days of exchange lead to me being locked out of my account. Now I am off to by a new router. No more net gear. Buy another brand.

Never worked out of the box...PLEASE read
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router on the recommendation of a store associate who stated that both he and his girlfriend had one and it worked great. From my experience I can only state that they must be the lucky ones. First off, I found that the ethernet ports were rather difficult to insert and remove the cabling from, especially the primary connection from the modem which is usually indicative of a poorly-made "off brand" product. Upon plugging the device in I was rewarded with...nothing. I'm going to flash-forward for a bit for the sake of brevity to describe what I found out after much aggravation much later in the day to be true from the user manual that I downloaded from their website (which shamefully should have been included in the package): the power light that was supposed to turn a solid green after powering up fully never got past a solid amber, and neither the 'internet light' nor the 'port lights' lit up either. I was actually convinced that I had some sort of virus because of the 'unknown network - no internet connection' message that I got from Win7 networking, as is reported by many others on various message boards until I realized that unlike them I had no wireless connection either for any of my multiple other devices. I found it almost laughable that one solution I found online was to substitute the power supply from a user's previous router....really? That's simply more evidence of a poorly-made product if the psu's are that faulty. After my experience as well as after reading what other unfortunates have gone through even after getting this doorstop to work is more than enough reason to make me switch brands when I return it later today. Prior to this I owned a Dynex router which cost less than half the price of this one, and I had good service from it for over 3 years. Oh how I wish they were still made...

Ist router and was not what I expected.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was told it would have full coverage in a 2200 sq. ft. house. But it did not and had poor coverage down a short hall. Took it to work were I'm in a wide open building of 9000 sq. ft. and it works fine.

Great for 5 Ghz
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this router for about a year now. It CONSTANTLY drops the 2.4 Ghz connection. It just cycles On/Off/On. On any newer device I have this happens (iPhones, Galaxy Tablet, Dell/Sony/Gateway Laptops). I've tried every recomendation on line and nothing improves it. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to disconnect my very old Dell laptop. The 5 Ghz connection is fine. Going out today to get a new router. Won't be a Netgear. We'll see how the new one does.

Waste of time and money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lousy product and even worse technical support. This router was nothing but trouble from the get go. Wouldn't connect to my printer or my grandson's tablet. Tech support was a joke!!!

Last about 2 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a lot of devices and depend on my router. I previously used a Linksys that lasted me about 3 years, than I purchased this Netgear and it lasted about 2 years before it died on me.

works so far, but installation was problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could not connect my PC using the instructions provided. When I contacted the Netgear help line they got me connected but strongly pressured me into buying a service upgrade, which I now regret

Average ho hum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The store promised great preformance at a price. We got average preformance at a bigger price tag. But it does have blue flashing lights. We turned them off. Maybe it has other colored lights we haven't tryed yet. Disappointed in Wireless Scanner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems to freeze a lot. Don't know if it's the internet connection or the device but it's very frustrating. After the cable guy left couldn't hook up another wireless laptop to router.

Worst Wireless Router Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this thing for over a year and honestly don't know why I kept it. Since day 1 it has constantly lost connections, can't detect my wireless laser printer, and has to be reset sometimes up to 10 times a day. I can be 30 feet from my office, sitting in the living room and lose my connection. If I walk down the hall and take my laptop with me, by the time I get to my office to reset the router it reconnects....walk 5 feet away and it drops again. I should have just kept using the old school Linksys Wireless-G router in all honesty. I plan to purchase a new router this week since I finally lost it and put my fist through the Netgear last night. I intend to take it to the gun range this weekend and disperse it into the atmosphere.

Poor performance and customer support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went with this router because of the superior range claims. It did not perform much better than the 7 year old router it was supposed to replace. Too slow to even update software wirelessly on my TV without issues, much less stream video. TV was less than 50 feet from router. Install was not easy, took several tries to get it mostly working. Had one issue that I could not get resolved, customer service was not helpful. Multiple times back and forth for a week. They just basically gave up, told me to reset and reconfigure. I had reset several times as part of troubleshooting process. Reconfigure what,? They did not offer any suggestion as to what needed to be reconfigured. Returned it and will do more research on other brands.

Good, but not Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is easy to install, but the performance was very bad for Internet Gaming and Streaming. Too much rubber-banding that just made online gameplay just not fun. And Customer Support was bad as well, at one point their suggestion actually locked me out of the Router. My 2-year old Cisco Linksys was better performing and will likely go back.
