Perfect Range Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This range extender does exactly what it is supposed to do. I'm using it to extend from one house to another next door. It has boosted the signal from about 50% in the living room to 100% and from 0% to 70% in the bedroom on the far side of the house. It was very easy to set up. I could have made it easier, but I didn't feel like walking next door. Still, 3 steps and I had to put in the security password twice. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. I see no need to spend any more when this one works so well.

Works most of the time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found setup reasonably easy. I use it to connect to a Motorola SB Router which is only about 20 feet away with no obstacles. About the same time I had Directv install their Cinema Connection Kit which connects direclty via wireless direclty with the Motorola unit. Not sure what is the culprit but started to get ip conflict messages on two pc's connected to the Netgear Extender. After dozens of resets on all equipment finally called Netgear. It was difficult communicating with the Tech (language barrier) but he was helpful. He said the Netgear Ext was setup correclty. He then checked the config on the Motorola SB and said he could see what was wrong and could fix it for $169! I declined. The bottom line is that the Netgear unit works but we do drop connections a little more than I would like.

Excellent Wi-Fi Range Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little nervouus about the performance of this extender and wondered if I would be able to figure out how to install it. I'm just a mom but figured I'd give it a try. I can't believe how EASY it was to install!! I got it working perfectly on the first try! I just followed the instructions and the install program did the rest. It works perfectly and it hasn't lost it's signal a single time. 5 bars and faster too.

Simple, easy, does the job!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently moved out of my parents house into a place next door, and needed something to extend our wireless range a bit further so that it reached all through my house, and we could still split the bill. I was not looking forward to trying to set this thing up, but to my surprise, it was incredibly easy. You just hook it up, let it search, go to the website and let it configure, and there it is! Easiest technology I've ever set up. And I now have fast, full signal through my whole house! It works great for extending the range of your wireless signal, definately worth the money for the job it does and the ease of set-up.

Great solution to extend network range!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed something to extend the signal of my old wireless G router to my home office on the opposite side of the house. I could have purchased a new router, but to save money I decided to try a network extender. The network extender was easy to setup and more cost effective than buying and setting up a new wireless network. The only downside I have come across is the link between my router and the extender will experience weak or no connection randomly, forcing me to reset the extender. Granted, this could have something to do with my network configuration. Something to keep an eye out for anyway.

VERY POOR TECH SUPPORT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried to set this up using my laptop. For some reason the laptop would not connect to this device. I called the tech support number and after going through the seemingly endless menu options I got a real person. The only problem was, like most tech support now days, the person on the other end of the phone was barely able to speak English. After almost an hour she still could not understand what my problem was and could not offer any useful suggestions. I gave up and after getting of the phone with her I was able to connect to this device using my tablet. Once I got it set up using the tablet the laptop recognized it and now works fine. If you buy this and have no need for tech support it may be ok for you but it does have very limited range. My house is only 2500 sq. ft. and this device will not cover all areas.

Perfect for expanding your horizons
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this repeater to get a better WiFi signal into the living room of my home. The router was in my family office and several walls away from the living room. I use my laptop and tablet while watching TV and to check emails but had a weaker, erratic signal. This unit solved my WiFi problem and has four Cat5 network outlets for data streaming as well. Signal strength is excellent and responsive as if I was directly connected with a Cat5 cable. I highly recommend this unit for those problem WiFi situations, or if you just want to improve you signal strength into an area of the house or yard.

Would not recommend this product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setting up was pretty easy. The problem I had was getting my computer to connect to this extender. No matter where I put the extender I could not get it connected to my computer. It would show up as an available network with good to excellent signal strength, but my laptops would not connect. The instructions were not very helpful with troubleshooting either. I am returning this product.

Slow to change settings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All in all this is a very good product. I wish it had a faster transfer rate, I have wireless N setup throughout my house and the fastest rate I can get with this is 130 megs. I wished they would come out with a 300, 450 or 600 meg version of this product. My only complaint is that if you change any setting manually it takes approximately 1-2 minutes for the unit to change the setting and reset. Initial setup is a breeze, although I recommend plugging your computer into the extender directly instead of connecting to it wireless for the initial setup. This will save you a head ache toward the end of the setup process. Once setup then you can disconnect the network cable and connect to it wirelessly. Enjoy!

Excellent for WiFi dead zones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We currently camp at a campground that has WIFI however where we are located the signal was too weak for us to use the service. I did research online and decided to try out the Netgear Universal Range Extender. The instructions were very concise and clear it took approx 20 mins to setup the router. It found the WIFI access point flawlessly after naming the Extender I was able to connect to the campground WIFI signal and the router has worked perfectly for its intended purpose. I would highly recommend this unit to others who are in need of having an Range Extender.

Works great, setup not well documented
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this device to provide wired Ethernet to my home theater system. Have a Wii, TV, and Blue Ray connected to it. It is streaming video to the TV as I write this so it is working great. Wii is working through it as well. Now lets talk about setup. Out of the box it claims that it will connect to your WPS enabled router with the push of a button. Did not work as advertised, so go online and down load the manual. Connect a computer to it and set it up following the manual. The internal wizard worked as advertised and in minutes things were working. You can find the manual at the following website. ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WN2000RPT/Documentation/UM/WN2000RPT_UM_8Dec10.pdf

As easy as pie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just moved out of my parent's house to the basement of the house next door. About 40 feet away. Just bought and installed this product. This is the easiest piece of hardware I have ever installed. Setup was quick and easy. No wires to deal with except for the power cord. The installation instructions are clear and to the point. My laptop connected seamlessly. The speed of the connection is as if my original router is here in the basement next to me.

Extended the range of my wireless network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do to a growing family, our home office was relocated to a room in our garage. Our wireless router was nolonger allowing our iPhones to work on wifi throughout the house. Once I hooked up this range extender, we have full strength bars on our iPhones. Setup was very easy. Ship to store was very slow, instead of the 3-5 days advertised, it took about 10.

It works great, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The instructions are horrendous. The minimal instructions assumes that you can/want to set this up wirelessly. Steps 3 and 4 repeat themselves. I had to Google the device to find the extended manual, which explains how to set it up via an Ethernet cable connected to my computer. Even then I had to find out the hard way that the computer could not be in the range of the router. (This is mentioned in the minimal instructions, but not in the instructions that I was using). Once set up, it works great, with a clear 80% increase in speed.

Works Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Follow the manual and it works like a champ. I am using it to get 4 ports to a home theater system that I didn't want to run wiring to. I connected it to the wireless router and voila - 4 ports, no wiring - exactly what I was looking for it has been very reliable. Set up and configuration is simple enough - not a lot of options since it is a pretty simple device. Port speed is limited to 100Mbit/s rather than gigabit, but for what I wanted to do, that's fine and with wireless not much higher would be possible anyway.

Great for extending my wireless network.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation was easy. Solved most of my problems getting Netflix streaming to work with my Samsung Blue Ray DVD, by using one of the wired outputs of the WI-FI extender to the Cat-5 input of the Blue Ray player, bypassing Samsung's wireless card. While I still encounter occasional problems, the source is now due to Netflix capacity limits, not my network.

Works as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 4,100 square foot one-story house with Wi-Fi on one extreme end of the house. With this range extender positioned about 2/3 of the way to the opposite end of the house, I am now able to get a strong signal in every room of the house. The instructions suggest a mid-way point as best, but that was not possible given the configuration of my rooms. As I said, though, it works well despite not being in a maximum signal location.

Works well once installation complete
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Instruction sheet is incorrect necessitating phone call to tech support. Took agent half an hour before unit was operating properly. Once that was done, unit performs extremely well.
