    Good for my awkward situation

I got it to pick up the unsecured wireless connection for a neighbor at an irregularly used summer cottage. The neighbor shares his service because most of the people nearby only use it occassionally. The network extender in our cottage allows me to use my laptop anywhere in our cottage. The problem is that the Network Extender must be placed in a rafter area of a utility room to get even a moderate signal from the neighbor. I couldn't connect at all without the Extender.

Had some issues getting it installed. Had to change security on my Linksys router. Then had some issue connecting an XP laptop to it, but finally figured it out. Have to reboot it once in a while so we can connect to it, but other than that, works as advertised. This was the best way to extend my wireless network within my house. I do recommend it though it could be a bit more effort than plug and play.

I'm not sure what everyone else is talking about on this product. SUPER easy to setup: contains installation guide (4 steps). Follow them and it works perfectly. Extended wireless network to full bars anywhere in large house with a lot of electrical work, many rooms, a lot of structure (aka a house with a lot of ways to interrupt signal). Fast streaming of videos on opposite end of house from router. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT IF YOUR WIRELESS NEEDS A BOOST IN SIGNAL RANGE!!!

I bought this to place in my media cabinet to get Internet connection to my TIVO and my BluRay player. Set-up was easy just follow the step-by-step direction included with the device. I paired this up with my Apple Airport Extreme with no issues—just had to make sure I allowed the signal to be re-broadcasted in the security settings. Steams 1080p Netflx with no issues. This has a lifetime warranty and saved me money on those useless proprietary dongles.

Our office is spread over a several acres of land and we needed to get wireless signals to all of our office space without having to pay for more data lines than we needed. I bought 3 of these and have them chained together. The installation was easy and quick! We now have strong wireless signal across our offices.

Seems a bit pricey but easy to configure and works great. We have an old building that is not easy to run cables in, so when we bought a new network (but not wifi) enabled copier, we wanted to be able to add it to the existing wifi network. This device makes that easy. Configure it as a range extender, then plug the new device into the one of the ports via Cat5. Presto.

Every so often the range extender (RE) stops communicating with the base router which causes me to have to go to the RE and reboot the device. Get's annoying especially when you have to reboot and you're all ready for bed. However, this can be due to user error, but unlikely. Bottom line: Great when it works. It is easy to set-up and start using, but the bad part is the inconsisency in maintaining a connenction with the base router.

    Much better than WPS

In the past I've played with Netgear's WPS to extend the range of my wifi, all with very mixed results (difficult to setup, could only do WEP, conflicted with other devices, required occasional power-cycle of both routers, etc). With the WN2000RPT, all of these problems go away, it's exactly what WPS should have been: a quick way to extend your primary access point to remote areas of your business or home WITHOUT the need to modify your primary router's settings at all. Setup is painless by plugging a cable in directly into the back of the WN2000RPT from your PC and opening "www.mywifiext.net".. I strongly suggest this vs. doing the setup wireless. You will need to know your existing router's SSID, security type (WEP, AES, etc) and the key(s). The wizard built into the router will guide you through the rest. Note unlike WDS, you will need to create a unique SSID for the WN2000RPT, it cannot be the same SSID as your current router. Because of this you'll also need to update your wireless devices to use the WN2000RPT's SSID vs. the current one, you want to choose the one with the strongest signal. A bonus was the ability to plugin my network (non wifi) ready printer into the WN2000RPT, and viola I had a wifi printer. Same is true for any other device which has wired Ethernet but no wifi like PC desktops, blueray players, gaming consoles and the like. Make sure your devices are set to obtain DHCP automatically and this extender does the rest. The only thing that's "hard" to setup was finding the right location for it, which needs to be midway between your current router and the area where you want to extend the range. You may also be limited if you want to plugin a non-wifi device (like I needed to with my printer). In the end this is way better than using WPS. You can use security much stronger than WEP, the range is great and it does B/G/N. You can also save money by not needing to purchase seperate equipment to make your wired devices wifi enabled.

With the WPS button and a N Router I was setup in minutes. The signal is great even from 4 rooms and 2 walls away from the router. I use this for an internet connection for my Blue Ray and DirecTV. Would be great for apartments and homes where a hard Ethernet wire is not available.

I have a Gateway wireless modem (ATT) that has the reach of my grandmother throwing a baseball. I got this range extender and now the Internet signal all around my house is pretty strong. For the price and ease of installation (literally plug it and use) I think it was a very good deal. You can turn it off when not in use, which is convenient too.

My WiFi Access Point is on the first floor at the back of the house. I often use a PC on the second floor in the front of the house. Thus the need for a Range Extender. The price was right on this unit. The directions are pretty clear. You are instructed to find the midway point between your WiFi Access Point and the computer that is out of range. I found it easier to just connect my laptop (with a cable) to one of the jacks on the Netgear Range Extender. I opened the browser on my laptop and there was the setup page. Piece of cake. As far as performance, this thing is awesome. Previously, I had 2 bars of reception and frequently experienced dropped connection. Now I always have 5 bars. The improvement in speed is remarkable. If you need a WiFi signal boost, I highly recommend this product.

My computer is located in the basement about as far from the wireless router as possible with very spotty reception. Signal strength was always weak and sessions would get dropped. Since installing the Netgear Wifi Range extender wireless strength has been better then ever. My only complaint is when the power goes out or the internet goes out you have to go the setup process again to reestablish the relationship with the router. It solved my problem and the experience has been awesome!

Works as advertised. Only hitch is the instruction set that comes with it. What I had to do since my router does not support WPS, is connect the Netgear extender and then, after the green light comes on, attach my laptop directly. Once this is done you have to go through a couple of steps but remember if you are using Windows 7 to name your Network and identify it as a home or office network. Also make sure that you chose the same security setting (64 bit, 128 bit) and password as the original router. I use 128 bit so the security code has 26 characters. Fortunately, I have them written down for easy access. After that, it is just a couple more clicks and following the prompts before you're connected. If you're sharing files on a home network, click on your icon on the lower right of your PC screen and set the sharing attributes for sharing files, devices, and multimedia. I've connected it to a Smart LG HDTV, Blueray, DVD and audio system and everything works great. Speed is very good and setup time should not take more than 15 minutes from the time you take it out of the box.

This extender is extremely easy to set up. I had it up and running in 5 minutes. The one problem I'm having is that it disconnects from my network at random times. I have my network AV Receiver, Vonage adapter, and network hard drive connected to the wired ethernet ports. Every few days, these devices are no longer available on my wireless network. The only way to get them to reconnect is to restart the device. If it weren't for that issue, I would give it 5 stars.

Installation took about 5 minutes and was up and running as promised - it does go offline every now and then, but unlike other range extenders I have used in the past, this one resets itself with no problems by simply unplugging it and then plugging it back into the wall. This is used in a large home and the signal now covers every room in the house - I would highly recommend this product.

Item reasonally priced, and easy to install. I took it directly from the box, followed the instructions, and I was up and running within 8 minutes. Nothing to connect except the power adapter becuse the system is WIFI, and it picks up the signal of my exissting router. Thank you for a very good product.! I am very happy that I purchased this model rather then a cheaper one.
