    It actually works

Was skeptical when salesperson recommended this to fix the dead zone in my family room. Had been without PS3 wireless capability for gaming or internet due to signal not carrying throughout house. Could not get Direct TV DVR hooked up. Thought I was going to need two separate devices. Before paying to have more cable run, I tried this and it works for every TV and wireless device on the "other end" of the house. Strong signal, fast DLs, plus I was able to use it to 'hardwire' an additional DVR receiver to the internet. I had a bit of trouble installing. Directions were not clear and I literally could not understand the "help desk" person, but with a bit of trial and error I managed to get it networked into my Home System. Have had it for 3 months and no glitches whatsoever. Well worth the money and it has saved me a lot of hassle with further wiring.

I have a DLINK N -wireless set up in the house. I was having trouble getting the signal on the far side of the house, only 55% for the PS3 and the computers. Went out and bought the Netgear because they didn't have a DLINK range extender. Salesman said it shouldn't matter and if it does just return it, no questions asked. Went home, plugged it in, turned it on, and hit the find devices button. Within 20 minutes had the ipad, ps3 and office computer running at a full strength. Works great.

Easy to set up and extend your wifi network

Since my cable comes in through the basement, that's where my router is. I needed something that reached our bedroom better for our wifi blu ray player. I was a little hesitant to get a range extender, because I just wasn't sold on the idea that they would work very well. Turns out that it does work pretty good, and that it was really easy to set up. I do work as an IT professional, but sometimes these types of devices drive me nuts. This thing took me an entire 5 minutes to set up and connect to. That even includes taking it out of the box and plugging it in. The steps in the manual walk you right through the installation, and everything went without a hitch. For the most part this extender works great - but just be sure there is a little "breathing room" around it. Not for heat dissipation, but because the signal will consistently fluctuate anywhere from 5-15% if anything substantial is within several inches of it. It's not a dramatic fluctuation of signal, but it happens. Overall I'd recommend this. It was the least expensive unit in the store (I don't need dual band), and it performs great.

I got this product to help strengthen the wireless signal into a room that was a dead zone. It works great once I was able to program it correctly to receive signal from wireless provider. The instructions that come with it don't give enough guidance and the online instructions don't help either. I had to call for tech support and they even had to work thru some issues before we got it up and running. But like I said it works great once that was done.

Right out of the box and 5 minutes later, i was up and running at full speed. Can't say why anyone else had a problem, but for me it was as easy as 1,2,3. I connected to Linksys wireless router and used this product to get our blue ray to buffer movies better. hard wired from extender to the blue ray player and we're watching movies now with no interruptions.

This is a great product and solution to extend your Wi-Fi signal. I was looking for the ability to connect to my wireless router from outside my home without the cost of adding another service/modem. Not only did this extender give me the ability to connect to the Wi-Fi with excellent signal strength, it also allowed me to connect another desktop pc to it without running additional data cables. This was very easy to install with no software needed.

OK for laptop, but not great for streaming videos

I purchased this device to boost my wi-fi signal to the basement from the 2nd floor of my house where my modem and wireless router (Netgear WNDR 3400 N600) sit. my samsung internet tv (with link stick) in the basement connects to the extender network and shows maximum # of bars for signal strength, however when trying to stream movies using vudu or blockbuster apps, it seems to have inadequate bandwidth to play the video. the movie either fails to play or will play for a few seconds and then goes into "downloading" mode. i'm confident the ranger extender is the problem since i physically moved my basement tv up to the 2nd floor close to the wireless router and was able to stream movies without issue. even had my cable company out and confirmed my signal from the outside was working properly. i have my range extender on my 1st floor, equi-distant from the 2nd floor wireless router and the basement tv. note: total distance is less than 50 feet with the range extender splitting that distance. it just doesn't seem to have the horsepower to get the job done. generally works ok with the laptop, but i've found that the signal seems intermittent when connected to the range extender network. pretty disappointed overall.

I fussed with this thing for 2 hours. I read manual completely and am reasonably tech literate. I finally had to capitulate and return it after I failed to get results with the device. I followed the instructions to the letter. I even called tech support. Still no luck. I thought connecting would be a no brainer. Maybe I have been spoiled by apple as I was trying to connect a friends Pc notebook for him using his neighbors wi fi signal ( with permission). Maybe you will have better luck than I did. Just be prepared to bring it back.

Could not get signal in far reaches of house even after buying Linksys E3200 router with supposedly long range. Set this up one level down, about 50 feet from the wireless router and it extended the range quite well. Easy to set-up and high-speed internet now in entire house.

I had a little trouble setting it up so I called netgear tech support and they were able to help me and get it set up right away. It was so easy once I figured out what I had done wrong. It helps a lot with streaming shows and movies. I wasn't getting a good connection since there are several walls between my main set up and the TV room, I was ready to give up and get satalite again, this is saving me a lot of money.

    Poor installation instructions

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

They need to revise the installation instructions. It says to "wirelessly connect to the Extender network by connecting to NETGEAR_EXT". I believe that it would have been clearer to say: 1. Open your "netwrok and sharing center" where you will now see a new available network called "NETGEAR_EXT. 2 Choose this network to connect to and then proceed to the next step. The way it is now written is not clear and one has to know how to connect to the new network without it being clearly illustrated.

It was so easy to install. Just push sync button on both the extender and router. It worked right away. No further installation required. Extended my wireless internet to my shop 50 feet away.
