Exceptional device for extending wifi!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My "n" coverage was satisfactory in the furtherest room in my home, but this extender made the signal strength much stronger. I use a Netgear 3500 router, and the two recognized each other immediately. The only issue, and it really isn't an issue but, rather, a change is that all wifi devices closest to its signal will need to be changed from the router SSID to the extender's SSID (NETGEAR EXT). The security codes remain the same. One of my major attractions to this device was my good experience with Netgear over many years. I use the 4 internal ports to operate devices that were wireless. That seemed to also improve overall wifi. Highly recommended!

Not bad for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I've installed it, I've had to do about two cold reboots since it seems to loose the connection to my router periodically. I've had it for about 2 months now. It's compatible with everything I got and streams pretty good.

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My brother installed this item for me and it took him about 5 minutes. It has been one of the most important items I have purchased from Best Buy. It enables me to use my laptop in several areas throughout my home. Thank you Best Buy!

Works exactly as intended
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would have been a "plug & push a button" setup but I've got an older Linksys G router without WPS and I was using WEP security which is not supported by this device. So it took a little more effort because I changed my security to WPA and used the Option 2 online setup since I had no WPS, but the instructions were clear, the web app was easy and all went smoothly, Now my wiifi signal search finds 2 LAN access points and I just pick the strongest. I was getting a poor signal at the farthest point from the router and now I connect to the .ext AP at good to excellent.. I just installed it, so we'll see how the reliabilty goes,

Great extender but fails almost daily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This extender works great when it's connected and fresh however I have to power cycle it almost every day to maintain connections. For whatever reason the device will fail in one of two ways. It will either lose connection to my main wireless router, essentially off the network and require power cycle to access again. Or it will maintain connection and you can reach the web UI but it will fail to provide dhcp addresses to any devices trying to connect - also requires power cycle to resolve. I've been all over the internet and Netgear support to try and get something to work with no luck. I'll never buy a Netgear extender again and the associate at Best Buy has been informed he should stop recommending this device. You can find all kinds of hits online for similar issues and Netgear has done nothing to address the issues.

Does not work at all. Waste of money!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has not worked since the day I bought it. I thought maybe it was interference that was slowing down the internet speed. I moved it many times through out the house with no luck. My internet speed direct through my modem is 36 mbps. My speed through the extender is less than 1mbps. I cannot connect to the extender through www.mywifiext.net to try to adjust settings. This was a waste of money. I should have bought a linksys. Unfortunately it's been too long and am unable to return to the store. Don't waste your money on it.

Helps extend coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a nice old stone Cape Cod house which isn't condusive to wireless use. We purchased this item to extend the service from one end to the other and upstairs. This does provide that extra "umpf" that we needed but it needs reset more often than I would like.

Difficult setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The device has a strong connection to the primary router at a distance greater than what I expected. Setup was difficult and I have significant network experience and training. I am using a PC and Vonage phone connected to the wired ports and a PC and smartphone connected via wireless. The device seems to drop signal from time to time every day but the indicator lights don't indicate such. I have to turn off/on the power switch to reconnect and continue. I upgraded the firmware but no change. The primary router is new and Netgear, and the problem was present with an older Linksys router. Overall, I'm happy with the device but the setup and ongong connection issue is annoying.

Setup up in less than 10 minutes

Just what I was looking for.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed something to pickup a WiFi signal so I could route to my own sub network. This fit the bill perfectly. It picks up a WiFi signal then I have it hard wired to my own router/subnet for security and convenience. Setup was average, took a little digging, but this was the first time I had done this type of setup. There appears to be no loss of throughput with this device for which I am very pleased, especially since I'm going laptop to router to the extender through another router via WiFi then out to the cable company ISP. I recommend it.

Does the job, but have to reset it often
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a dead spot from my WIfi in my bedroom (only in my bed) and it drove me crazy. I could never use the internet if I was in bed. Now that I have the extender, I don't have the probelm anymore. The extender does have to be reset ofet for it to work properly which is very frustrating. Luckily, it is in my office which is next to my master bedroom. Wish I did not have the reset issue as it is pretty frustrating to be in bed and decide to surf the net and realize that my device can not connect to the extender. Once, I reset it, it is good to go for the durataion of my use. I may try to move the extender to another location to see if that helps.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This wireless range extender is great, it was easy to setup, the range is good. Everything about this product is great. I was getting 65MBPS on my laptop before now I’m getting 150MBPS.

Product is currently 2 for 6 right now.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 2 of these for work and 1 personally. The 2 at work were specifically bought so that we could leap frog a signal to a new addition on the shop. Both extenders worked great for the first 30 days before I put in a new router after which both were inaccessible completely. Thankfully took both back, since they died within the return time limit (exchange only), and got 2 new ones (both with warranties). Within another 30 days, one of the devices failed and I had to take it back for a new one. The other one is still working for who knows how long. So far the personal one is working fine without many problems. If you are a gamer, the upstream bandwidth will not be that great. My major qualms with this item is that they do not come with a book or any information on how to modify their configuration outside of connecting them to the network. Also, the extender hates addresses that are different from the default 192.168.1.1 on most routers. Sometimes the extender will dynamically get the addresses, subnet mask, and dns from the router and sometimes you will have manually input that information into your computer or try and get to the configuration page and manually input the info, in some cases the extender will ignore.

Works as long as you follow the instructions.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed to get a bigger WiFi connection and this seemed the easiest way without having to find out if all your power lines run on the same curcuit. Unfortunately you have to be very careful with those powerline ethernet ports. Tip, when setting this up is that you should follow the instructions located in the box. Only took me a few minutes. Then again, I have a Netgear router so it was a synch to setup with the sync button. Again, only thing that didn't seem right with me was the price just for a box to extend your connection.

First device to connect to extender wins
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this device because I had my router in my room where my computer was, and off the kitchen where my wife had her computer she had very poor or no reception. I figured I'd buy this extender and drop it in nearer the kitchen to strengthen the signal to there and hopefully to the backyard as well. I had no issues with the set up of this device. We had no issue with connecting a device to the extender. We did have better reception outside. The problem with it, is that only 1 or maybe 2 devices could connect to it. With maybe half a dozen devices, computer, ipads, phones, etc. competing for the signal, it really seemed to simply be a matter of which devices connected first. Other devices after the first two simply could not connect to the extender. For some reason, it would also lose the connection to the router. I would have to power cycle the extender at least daily if not more often to have it reconnect. Technical support were of no help. In the end I moved my computer out of my bedroom, which my wife was "enthusiastic" about, and I took the router with me. So now we really don't need the extender thankfully, because it's a pain.

Excellent device extends wireless a great distance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm extremely pleased with this range extender. I bought three to create a wireless network covering my entire church campus and everything worked perfectly connecting to a router using WPA encription. I bought another to install on a home network that uses WEP and found they will not work with WEP. Nothing in the instructions says this and during installation it appears to work but in reality will not. Once I changed the ATT router to WPA and restarted the installation I was up and running in a few minutes

Works great straight out of the box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I plugged the unit in, waited for the green light, connected to the extended network's SSID, changed the settings to select my wireless network and like magic, I'm up and running on the the extended network. speedtest.net shows my extended network speed is only about 10% slower than connecting directly to my primary wireless network. I had a Linksys WRE54G wireless extender which constantly dropped the connection when connected to my new Netgear N600 router. It worked fine when it was connected to my older Linksys router. Maybe there's something about using network devices from a common vendor that's not documented anywhere.

Hard to install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this because of the sales associates' recommendation, he said that this would be really easy to install and would work with my current set up. After trying to connect for over an hour, I finally ended up returning it to the store. The instruction are really vague and my network never connected with this. Maybe others would have better luck, as for me, I have to find a different extender.
