Works well, has extended my wi-fi into a corner of the house that had weak coverage. Now and then I lose the signal, but not sure whether that's an inherent problem, problem with the router or with the extender... But easy to restore connection. Setup was easy and successful

    Average Extender

This product didn't last at all. I bought it several months ago and it quit working. It was ok within the first few months, but it eventually had erratic performance. I know people with the same problems in their dorm. So I trashed it and purchased an Airport Express. I would never look back. The difference is night and day.

Not as described by Best Buy

I was looking for a wifi extender that would expand the hot zone in the house, with the same ID and pass key. This created a new hot zone, like having two wifi's in same house -- it did allow me to use the same pass key. We needed to reprogram all of our computers and smart phones to look a new hot zone. Also, due to band width, if you have more than two active connections to the extender, the speed drops. We are using it, but beginning to regret the purchase.

Extends range but drops signal all the time

This product is easy to install and does work to boost the signal. BUT..it drops off again and again and again. This means you need to reset the extender and the router. I have updated the firmware and had long discussions with Netgear who are aware of the problem but no fix is avaialble as you will see on the variuos blogs- its like a car that goes well but stops suddently every 2 miles and wont restart until you get out open the hood and re-connected the battery

Works okay for Home with brick fireplace in center

I bought the WiFi Extender to improve the range of my WiFi N/G to parts of my home that were blocked by a brick fire place in the center of my home. It seems to work most of the time, but it keeps losing its connection to the client computers, so the user must repair the connection at least once each session.

    Great Wi-Fi Device

I now have 2 of these on a home and a Business network. They were very easy to setup and install on both existing networks. They also have a very good access range. I can't really think of anything I did not like except that it has a glossy finish on the casing. I would definitely buy another if I need anymore.

    Easy to install range extender

My home cable WiFi is set up at one end of the house and we got poor internet signal at the other end. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to install this unit and now we are streaming HD movies where we couldn't even stream a SD movie without interuptions in service. Great WiFi coverage at reasonable price.

I've moved it 3 times, as requested, to get a better connection but, it still goes "red" (loosing connection with router) a lot. It's now located downstairs almost right under the router that's upstairs. I'm not sure why it can't stay connected but, I'm not totally happy with the product.

Works great, if you can get it to work.

Overall this unit works great but it was near impossible to get it to work correctly until I called out a tech guy to assist me with the set up and it took him 2 hours to get it operational and cost me another $100. The instruction manual is very poor and online assistance is just as bad.

Direct Connecting an Ethernet Cable Does not Work.

    Posted .

I bought this product to replace my old Ethernet Adaptor that all of the sudden was not connecting to the Router any more. I wanted to be able to connect it with my desktop that is on the other side of the house from the Router. I needed a better connection, this was a complete fail. Netgear support did not know what they were doing, almost certain I knew more about how to set up this product than they did. Not sure if other Verizon Fios users are having this problem but looks like I have to make a 3rd trip to Bestbuy after buying a 2nd netgear product that didnt work. Never buying another Netgear product again.

I have used this item to extend my router range since I live in the country and many of the buildings have computer controled lights and temputure modules that communicate with my office computer. I have also used it to boost the internet service in the hotels I stay in when I travel.

known problem requires hard reset every 24 hrs

    Posted .

Great product in that it sets up easily right out of the box and does a great job extending the range. The problem is that every 24 hours or so, the repeater loses the signal and requires a hard reset. The Netgear discussions forum has PAGES of discussion on this from 2010 until this week. There's some talk of a beta software that will fix this but why does Netgear continue to sell this product ignoring the problem and why does Best Buy recommend it? Why go through the hassle I have to of buying this and returning it. It was the only repeater Best Buy had in stock....so much for buying local. I'll have to find something else at Amazon. I can't believe other people aren't returning this product and that the tech guy didn't warn me. And actually my connection went down while writing this, requiring a hard reset and it's only been an hour since the last hard reset.
