Stops Connecting to Internet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up, easy to connect devices to but the extender won't stay connected to the main router in my house which causes huge excesses in my wireless device data plan. do NOT buy this extender, Netgear refuses to acknowledge the issue, there are a ton of blogs out there about this, how you can supposedly fix it. My fix will be to put it in the trash and get a new one. Who wants to spend hours fixing this? Not me.

More Complicated !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this device much more complicated than package led me to believe for the installation, and even after completeing all the hurdles and getting the devise in communication with the wireless router and all the lights green I never got 1 single byte of data through it. I boxed it back up and took it back to the store and purchased a different devise to cover my needs! Also attemps to call Net Gear tech support were fruitless, all day I got the same "ALL CIRCUTS ARE BUSY - TRY YOUR CALL LATER!"

Keeps disconnecting from the wireless network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The device will connect and perform well for periods of 5 minutes to a couple of hours, but then it disconnects from the network and requires a power cycle to regain the network. I tried everything on every internet forum to fix the problem to no good end. Do not buy this item if you expect constant wireless service.

Trash Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, I cannot beleive how poor a product this is. I spent over an hour trying to set it up to no avail. I called what has to be the most worthless technical support in the industry only to find out that the free tech support for 90 days was not true. They wanted to charge me for the initial hookup of this product when it clearly states free T/S for 90 days. My technichian that was of absolutley no help and very limited skills could not even speak english. OMG! Best Buy should not tarnish itself by selling substandard NetGear products. I have just boxed it up and I am going to return it.

Doesn't work for long
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second Netgear Extender I have had in three weeks. The first one worked for a week and then stopped working. The computer could no longer see it on the network; reinstalling produced the same effect. It was no longer visible. Figuring it was defective, I bought another one. The screen froze on the last step of installation and once again, the computer was never again able to detect the extender. I have rebooted and reset everything: the router, the Mac, the extender. Nothing. I was on the phone with Netgear support for an extraordinarily long time, being shuffled back and forth among a couple of unhelpful and snide techs and was finally informed that I should use an ethernet cable to connect it. So much for the touted "easy wireless connection." I didn't have an ethernet at hand, so I asked the tech what to do when I got one. He refused to give me details and would only repeat, "Then it will only take me five minutes to install." Fine. Enough. Back to Best Buy to return this again.

It's not worth the Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this device for several months and it has proven not to be worth the money I spent on it. At least once a month I have to do a manual reset, then reconfigure the whole extender. I have tried to have it connect to a specific I.P. address, which it doesn't. It will continually attempt to connect via the same I.P. address as other wireless devices. I have also specified which i.p. address in the main modem it's supposed to use no luck with that either. Can't ask Geek Squad any questions, as they won't do anything without saying bring it in or schedule an in house visit so we can charge you. Until I can find something that will actully works, I guess i'm stuck with the piece of plastic that not worth the materials it made from. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.

Can't get it to work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe i am just not computer aware enough. I tried to get this router extender to work but the thing just would not work. I have a internet radio and wanted a stronger sig in the back of my house. I could not get my logitech squeezebox to accept the SSID and password. There is no help from Logitech. I have about a 40-60 sig. an my radio most of the time. i'll just save the extender and use it in some other enviorment in the future.

made me mad!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not an IT person but I do know my way around computers. This thing made me so mad I almost (literally) threw it out the window. The set up is awful. When it asked for my passphrase for my router, it wouldn't accept it. It would only accept "password". Once "connected" it wasn't connected. I couldn't get online for anything and when I did open up a browser, it would take me back to the set up wizard. I was able to get the darn thing connected after many hours but only to find it was disconnected, but yet it would show connected. My computers that were once connected to it, they would constantly looking for an IP address. Why? who knows. I only know that I'm going to return it and maybe I can find something else.

No Security
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I like to maintain my home network as secure as I can (I know that that is probably an illusion, but I like my illusion) Have 2 different wireless options set up. A wireless network with access to my network for me, a guest network without access to the network for the kid’s and the Tablets in the home. On both of these networks I choose NOT to broadcast the SSID (in other words, if you don’t know the network name, you can’t sign in.) And of course I have some pretty good passwords for these. According to the Information that came with the Wi-Fi Range Extender, Using the WEP function the repeated network name should be my network name followed by ‘_EXT’ i.e. if “MyNetwork” is the network name, the repeated name should be “MyNetwork_EXT”. Could Not make the WEP function work, (NETGEAR Wireless-N 300 router) Kept getting an new “NETGEAR_EXT” SSID broadcast with NO PASSWORD. Don’t honestly know if this was leaking in to my Local Network, didn’t leave It live long enough to test it, (Could have been only a guest account) Anyway – Returned the unit….

Never buying Netgear again
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The set up was so confusing that we had to call to get help installing. When we called a second time, they said we had already called and got support once and that we would have to pay for a years worth of tech support. We told them it said we got 90 days worth of free support (it had been 9 days) and they still kept saying we had to pay. It was almost like a set up, making the installation confusing and then making you pay for support! The set up ended up being a VERY simple fix that they could have plainly put in the directions, but didn't. Will NEVER buy anything with the Netgear name again!

Horrible product, don't buy it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I'd just share my experience with this product. There are several walls between my router and my computer, so I decided to get this extender to help strengthen the signal. First, I had a problem connecting my computer wirelessly to the newly configured modem. After that was sorted out, my computer still couldn't connect to the internet through the extender. I decided to call the tech support to see it they could help, and they were UTTERLY USELESS. Of the four people I talked to, two of them couldn't even figure out which product I had, and the other two couldn't tell me anything I didn't already know. The only advice they could give me was to try and exchange the extender for a new one, which I did. The new one had the exact same problems. I finally gave up, returned it, and got a Belkin wifi range extender. It was the best decision I ever made. The setup took less than five minutes, and it does its job perfectly. Just spend the extra ten bucks and save yourself all the trouble.

Installation instructions too simple
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation instructions led me to believe it would be a snap to set-up, and it was to a point. It broke down whn I attempted to complete the connection, the Computer never could connect to the NetGear Extender homepage for final install of SW, no install CD provided with product. Install procedures also refer to list of FAQs for troubleshooting. Not very helpful.
