Customers value the improved 3D capabilities, larger screen size, and enhanced graphics of the New Galaxy Style New Nintendo 3DS XL. They also appreciate the system's ease of use and the functionality of the C-stick. However, some customers express disappointment over the lack of an included charger and find the price point to be relatively high. The SD card's accessibility is another area where some users have voiced concerns.

I like that you can turn off the 3d function for young kids. The kids like the larger screen and clamshell design. Great for travel.

Ah... The "New" 3DS XL. This system is in an improvement in every way over its past iterations. At this point, with the number of games available, the system's backwards compatibility, and reasonable cost there is no reason not to own this if you're looking to game on the go. There are many great past releases for this system like Fire Emblem: Awakening, Pokemon X/Y, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Mario 3D Land, and so on that are constantly dropping in price. There are also new release like Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Xenoblade Chronicles to keep you busy in the future. With a library so vast that is constantly expanding you're bound to find several games you'll love. So...why four stars and not five? Not coming with some sort of charging cable or AC adapter is absolutely inexcusable. I don't care how long the system has been around, and to state that it is to keep the cost low is absurd. Despite this glaring mistake by Nintendo, it is hard to find a reason not to buy this system. Pick a color, buy a charger if you don't have one, and enjoy!

I love the original 3DS XL. It is a great system with a great assortment of games, but I never really used the 3D function. It was just too hit or miss with staying in focus and ended up not being worth the headache. The fact that I can now use the 3D function makes it worth the purchase (for me.)
The C-stick is nice for games like Majora's Mask and the added processing really helps with loading times and even rendering for newer games like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Google search the comparison screens for that game and you will see a difference.
Overall the best version of a great handheld. If you have never owned a 3DS, get it now!

This has improved on the 3DS XL in every way. The screen looks brighter, crisper, and 3D effects are fantastic! On my old 3DS, I very rarely used the 3D because the slightest movement would throw off the 3D effect, and it would cause eye strain. The New 3DS, with its head tracking, adjusts on the fly, and has a much wider viewing angle for the 3D. I have no problem playing with the 3D slider turned all the way up now. It seems like the games load faster too, but that might just be me. Overall, I love it!

Love the size of the Nintendo 3DS XL - it's so much bigger than my old DS that I replaced with it, but still very easy to use with two hands. Not too heavy or too clunky.
The only pain is taking off the back plate to upgrade the SD card before turning it on the first time. It definitely takes some care to treat it well.
Love the games, love the shop and other apps. Definitely worth the purchase.

The larger screen is great. The new face following 3d works well. The new mini joystick and right and left buttons add even more functuality to an already great system.

Yes we spoil our kid : )
He has had an iPad since he was an infant, he is now 9. When he asked for it I was skeptical. I kept all the wrappers on it and did not let him play unless he was in the car or on the couch (meaning I didn't let him take to friends houses and play alone where he could tear it up). Surprisingly he loves playing it, and still plays his iPad as well. Games are expensive, more than Apps on the iPad but they do hold his attention longer, so I am pleased.
He has never really had a true handheld gaming system but this was definitely the one to buy. Good quality games, nice graphics, compact design.

The super-stable 3D and faster processing, and better screen reinvigorate your old 3DS games. The only downside is that the system transfer from your old 3DS is a real pain.

This is a great version of the 3Ds. The 3D is actually usable and it's much faster than the original 3DS and 3DS XL. The only downside is that it requires a new memory card.

I have played with the 3D on more times than I ever have with my previous DS! Wait times for games like Super Smash Bros have been reduced, and all the games look stellar!

The 3D is better and the games load faster but it doesn't come with a charger so make sure you purchase one separately. Nintendo could have made bigger steps to improve the 3DS with this release but as usual they are afraid to stray from the same model they've been pushing for the past 25 years.

I'm very impressed with how much better the new 3DS XL handles 3D game play. It'll be a while before games catch up with the new 3DS' horsepower, but the improvement in display quality is immediately apparent. I'm very pleased with the device. My only complaint is the lack of packed in charger.

dual analogs anyone?

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
that's what you get with the new 3ds, TWO analog control inputs. this means now you can control both you character AND the camera as is a standard feature in other, tv-bound gaming devices. the new 3ds also introduces much better, eye-tracking 3d visuals that stay in focus even if the screen shifts, something that was a problem with previous 3ds editions. the system doesn't come with a charger but this is easily rectified by keeping one of your old chargers or buying a new one for about $10. the only other problem? where are you going to get the money for all the great games they've made for this system?
