Great first lens to buy and upgrade from the kit lens. It's not the sharpest at times, but it gets the job done. For the price, this is one of the best lenses you can upgrade to from the kit lens if you're using the Nikon System. Don't be afraid of it being a Prime lens either, move your feet to get your shot!

Awesome little lens. Tack Sharp stopped down a bit, but not bad wide open either. My only complaints are in reference to build quality and the lack of a manual override on the autofocus. But, for under $200, it is only slightly more expensive than the venerable 50mm f/1.8 AF-D and you get a full AF-S.

I like the lens and have been using it more than the other lenses since I got it. I do have one problem that may not be common since I haven't seen anyone else complain. The lens hood does not stay securely attached. Luckily, I check it routinely since I first discovered this, but during use, sometimes the hood is barely hanging on.

I Bought this lens to go with my d5300. It is a very good lens. It takes really clear photos. The perfect prime lens.

far better lens than the one that came with my d5000. only drawback is fixed focal length.

the 35 mm takes good photos its a good lens to have for your SLR

bought for my wife Black Friday 2013 and is already not working. Nikon won't warranty even though I registered it and have the warranty papers.. Liked the lens but should last longer than 11 months
