    Excellent lens of decent quality for dx cameras. This rounds out my collection. It allows me to compose photos in small rooms and areas whereas the 50mm and larger lenses must be used at a greater distance from the subject.

    This lens takes great portraits that are super sharp with a blurred background when set at 1.8. My wife complains that she can't zoom in with it, but the quality of pictures is far above the kit lens for my D3100. I'm very pleased with it overall and it suits our needs for a portrait lens to take pics of the kids.
