My son has the 3DS, and this was high on his birthday list. He loves the game system and the looks of the Galaxy edition.

The most important thing to know if you do not already own a 3DS is that the New 3DS does not come with a charger; you have to purchase it separately. They're not too expensive, but you don't want to get home and discover that you can't charge your new system. If you already own the old 3DS you can just use your old charger. With that out of the way, the New 3DS is a good system. The new screen does a good job of maintaining the 3D effect even if you're moving the system or your head around. The upgraded CPU lets you play more demanding games like Super Smash Bros without having to reboot the system. The extra C stick is a fine addition, but I haven't found it to be of much use. Maybe I just need more games that use it. Other than that, it does everything the old 3DS did, just a bit faster. I only have two minor complaints. First, the previously mentioned lack of a charger. If you're upgrading from an old 3DS I suppose this might be a plus, since you don't need two identical chargers. The main problem is that it's easy to miss. There is a notice on both the front and back of the box, but in both places it's rather small. I understand Nintendo not wanting to put a big warning on the front of the box, but the one on the back should have been more prominent. Second, the micro SD card has been moved to be under the back panel of the system, requiring you to remove two screws and pry the back off to replace it. It's nice that they put a little hook on the stylus to help remove the back, but I found it inadequate and had to use a screwdriver. There are small plastic tabs holding the back on in addition to the screws which will make a popping noise as the back is removed. This would have been quite alarming if I hadn't known to expect it. Most people will never have to do this more than once though, if they ever replace the card at all, so I don't see it being a big deal, it's just an odd thing for Nintendo to do. One little bonus of having to remove the back is it also gives you access to the battery. Prior to doing this I didn't realize the battery was easily replaceable. The same is true of the old 3DS.

My kids love this thing. It works great and it has a vatiety of funtions that add to the traditional games. The 3D function wirks well.

Works perfectly even when left running for a few days. Never had a problem with it. 3d works great with the face recognition feature.

It would be better if it came with a charger idk what the company was thinking when they put the 3ds in box. But the 3ds works great.

I upgraded from the previous model of 3DS XL and I was very happy with the improvements to the system. The overall look and feel has been improved despite there being no real changes to the display resolution or software. The location of buttons and slots has been changed FOR THE BETTER and I am very happy with it. However, you will have to buy a MicroSD card (comes with 4GB) and a charging cable (if you don't already have one). It's quite a bit of money, especially for somebody like me, but I feel that it will last a while.

A great console, a definite improvement over the previous 3ds. Load times are faster and the 3d has been improved through the use of a face tracking camera. The only real con of the system is that it requires a 00 size screwdriver to replace the micro sd.

My son loves this DS, it is lite weight and great for shopping trips and or doctors appointments. Can keep him entertained for hours if I were to allow him to. You can also turn on and off the 3D playing mode. The only down side to this product is that the charger does not come with the device. You will have to buy that separately.

I bought this as an upgrade to my launch edition 3DS, and it's an improvement in every way. The size of the XL makes it more comfortable to hold, and the head tracking 3D makes it so much easier to play games in 3D. I love this device and highly recommend it!

Great gaming tool for the little one with this new generation of console. But seriously no charging cable that is why -1 star. I was fortunate to have the charger cable from the 2DS otherwise it was $20/- more which I did not look forward to spending.

I have really enjoyed my new 3ds. It was a great upgrade from my old 3ds. The 3d is actually pretty stable and I have been using it in all my games unlike the old one. The battery life is decent with the 3d on it lasts me around 5 hours or so. With the feature off the system will last me a whole day of use. I really recommend this item if you are thinking of upgrading from your old 3ds or purchasing your first one.

What do I say, you have to have a 3DS if you want to play 3DS games. This is the best 3DS version. It's uncomfortable to hold and cramps my fingers, especially on the tiny square off shoulder buttons. New screen features makes the 3D finally decent on the THIRD iteration of this system it finally feels like it's out of beta. 3D still has awful screen door effect on more detailed games because it halves the screen res (looks pretty good for Mario, Zelda looks awful).
