Great awesome fantastic...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device I feel is the pinnacle of innovation for the video game industry. It travels well and the graphics are outstanding for a handheld device. There are more anticipated games and services dropping asap so its always something to be excited about. Buy the XL over the original its definitely worth it. (It also plays netflix).

3DXL is a Great HH for the Older Gamer (I'm 65)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so impressed with the DSiXL that I preordered two 3DSXL on brand loyalty alone. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the larger footprint console was of a noticeable better physical quality, e.g. the controls were smoother and more responsive, the main menu and power buttons are more rugged, and the software setup was much easier. Despite some 3D artifacting, the 3DXL screens provide a much improved 3D gaming experience. Hours of play and recharge rate are dramatically improved over the 3DS.

Supersized portable gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my son as an upgrade from his original 3DS. The larger viewing area, as compared to the original 3DS, offers-up a much improved user experience. The 3D effect is much more immersive than the devices' previous iteration. All in all you can't go wrong with this purchase. If your child is in the 6 to 15 year old range the 3DS has a good breadth of software titles to entertain them. If your child is older and/or a more sophisticated game player then I would recommend the Sony PS Vita portable gaming system as it has developed quite a diverse software library along with built-in social media functionality that older kids seems to be into at the moment.

Big 3DS Works great.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the 3ds before and it had a charging dock, the 3ds xl does not have a dock or a connector for it. The wifi does not work in my daughter's room (the attic) but other devices work there) Other than that we love the unit. the screen is nice and big. The graphics are good.

Great Handheld
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently I purchased a 3DS XL Zelda bundle. I have not owned a handheld since the original Game Boy. So its been a while. I have however spend some time with the 3DS. A Link Between Worlds is what encouraged me to buy one of these. That being said, the biggest plus to this system is the amount of quality games. There are hundreds of really good good games, and a large and growing back catalog of virtual console games. No matter what kind of game you are in to, or your age (kids to adults) you will find plenty to your liking. The build quality is about what you would expect. It's an all plastic unit, but feels solid enough and comfortable to use. The controls on this thing are nice and tight and work well in all the games I've played, which is obviously very important. I really like the ability to download and store games on an SD card. This would allow you to store dozens of games on the card itself (it comes with 2gb, but you can add up to 32gb) and not have to carry around, and swap out a pile of games when on the go. The unit has built in wifi that works great for downloading and playing games online, and the street pass feature adds a cool new aspect to gaming. The speakers on the unit get the job done, but using headphones will sound a lot better. The 3D feature works just fine. It does add kind of a cool new aspect to your games, (especially ones made to take advantage of the added dimension of depth). The first few times it did kind of bug my eyes after an hour or so, but once I got used to it, it's just fine. Once you find the sweet spot for your eyes (using the depth slider) and distance from your eyes, its great. Sometimes you'll need to adjust the depth when switching games to avoid ghosting/blur. Really the only gripe i could find is that for the price, the XL could have used a spec bump. Given that the Vita is light years ahead as far as features for the same price. (But few games..) On the 3DS, the 240p resolution was adequate (but not stunning) but on the XL's 90% larger screen size, the 240p becomes more of an issue. Though the game play is smooth (60 fps) and shading and lighting effects are good, the edges of objects and such are a bit jagged and slightly detract from the otherwise wonderfully done environments (I'm thinking Ocarina of Time 3D). I would really love to see this with a 480p or better screen, and maybe a slight processor/memory bump would speed up load times in the eStore and allow game play while downloading another game and drive a higher res. display. While we are at it maybe some kind of video output would be cool. All and all, there is a reason that the 3Ds/XL is the most popular hand held too date! If you are looking for a handheld with TONS great games, players of any age will be more than happy with one of these.

3 options
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the 3ds's huge screen is its greatest strength but also its greatest weakness. Having a huge screen allows you to relax at home and not strain to see minor details. watching netflix is wonderful on the 3ds xl screen. now for its downfall, the huge screen is a not so great when a game developer does not account for the big screen. i have noticed two or three games that look poor quality because it is being stretched. another thing to note, you will not notice the giantness of your 3ds xl while you are in your home. but while out in public it makes you more aware of the fact that you are lugging around a tiny tv. I do most of my gaming at home, so this was the perfect fit for me. I would suggest the xl version to the person that wants the ultimate entertainment experience. a good quote "anything worth doing is worth over doing." the 3ds xl has out performed my dreams of what ds would become.

like the build quality vs older ds systems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter wanted a ds system so that she could be like her older sister and brother; we surprised her with the 3DS XL. She realized how much better it was vs. the older DS she was toying with, and often is on it playing games that we've had for a while. The build quality is better than previous versions, and should hold up better than the older model.

Great 3D console for people of all ages
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game console is great for people of all ages and has games for all ages. I didn't get the console for the 3D effects, but the 3D effects is not what you would expect without glasses. I would get the low price guarantee by finding a better price on Amazon, Dell, or other website because what Best Buy offers is too expensive.

The Best Nintendo has to offer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're going to buy a 3DS, this is the one to get. With larger screens and a better range for 3D viewing, it's the perfect version of the device. I upgraded from a standard 3DS and have been very pleased.

If you want a DS, go for the 3DS XL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of all the predecessors, this one is surely one heck of an upgrade. Bigger screen is awesome so you wouldn't have to hold it close to your face and squint. You can actually see what your playing and the feel of holding this thing is so comfortable. I do miss that cradle though, but it's okay without it as long as they make one soon.

Bigger is usually better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned almost all of Nintendo's handheld devices including the original clunky grey Gameboy and the amazing 3DS. I upgraded to the XL to get better 3D graphics. Overall, I like it, however there are some negatives. For one, it's slippery! It has a matte finish that is too slippery for me, so I put a skin on it which helps. It's also big now, so little kids may have problems holding it (old folks as well). It's not as portable as it used to be. I do not notice much difference in sound quality as some have commented. A plus for me is the better battery life and it seems to be easier to set up wi fi on the XL compared to the smaller 3DS. Although the process is the same, on the XL it just connected faster and easier.

My son loves this!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son loves this! Screen size is great...not to big and not too small. Was originally going to purchase the 3DS...glad we decided on the 3DS XL. Graphics and audio are great! Highly recommended!

Great portable videogame system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 3ds xl is much more comfortable to hold and the larger screens is quite nice. This also has better batter life than the regular 3ds model, and has a nice selection of games coming out.

Awesome console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 3DS has a great library of games, it looks great, feels great, and is overall a solid handheld console. It's given me hours and hours of fun. My only complaint is that the 3D requires a certain angle of viewing. Unless you're sitting down and not moving, disable 3D.

Standard Nintendo 3DS console
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great handheld device. Bought a pair of screen protectors after some days. Bought both Zelda games, Smash bros, and some eShop games. and works without issues. The 4/5 stars since the price was still $200 some days before the new 3DS showed on stores (unfortunately, I could not wait more time due travel issues), so I got it at $200 even after some days the price dropped. I would instead recommend the new 3DS instead this one, since its now at the same price of what I have payed.

Nintendo's newest handheld
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 3DSXL is a great upgrade from the original 3DS. The longer battery life and the bigger screens are worth the upgrade alone for the better experience and longer play times.

If you been waiting to buy a 3DS, BUY IT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting for a long time to buy an nintendo handle to play pokemon. I put it off due to the price mainly. I don't regret it too much. This XL 3DS is an excellent product and well worth the wait. The screen is nice and big and the battery life is excellent. I'm glad I bought it. Recommended for all ages!
