So I had the normal 3DS for the longest time and every time I would play it my eyes would hurt after about 30 minutes of play (and I play in 2D mind you). I finally got frustrated enough that I saved up some money and sold my old 3DS and purchased the XL, and let me tell you...that was a great decision! The graphics are still very good, the bigger screens allow me to play for longer periods of time (still in 2D). And the "sweet spot" for the 3D is easier to catch with the eyes so I was able to play in 3D on my XL a lot better (still prefer 2D but that's a personal preference). Since the device is bigger is actually fits into my hands better so I don't feel like I'm having to grip it as hard; and instead I feel like I'm just holding it comfortably. Also, played my Pokemon Black 2 game on it (a DS game for those who don't know), and at first I thought it was going to look stretched and pixely. But to my surprise it didn't really do that and just played normally with the black bars on the sides of the top screen. The matte finish was greatly needed as my normal 3DS would get smudgy even by just looking at it, while the XL you can't even tell that I have touched it! The only downside is there aren't many cases that I have found that I like, besides the one that I have recommended with this review. I own the yoshi version of that one and love it for travel because it can keep everything, although it is a little bulky it fits everything. All in all, if you're weighing your pros and cons about a normal 3DS and the XL...I would definitely recommend going with the XL over the normal 3DS and that's from personal experience!

Got this gaming system a month ago and love it!! I haven't had any problems with it and its a great way to play games with my friends!

I bought this for my son on his 7th birthday. We are both very pleased. The red model is beautiful. We mostly play Super Mario. I say "we," because he likes me to clear the levels. He can then go back and practice and find the secrets. I do set rules such as he may not bring the unit on the school bus, to restaurants, to the movie theater, to the grocery store, etc... The 3dsXL has held up very well so far. It has not wound up in drawer unused. I also highly recommend the matching, red, hard shell case to store it and game cartridges.

My daughter upgraded to the 3DS XL. She learned how to use it quickly and loves playing it.

Although I don't have very many games for it I still enjoy playing and messing around with my friends . It was originally kind of strange to learn how to use but I got over that quickly. Overall very happy with the purchase.

Big screen, battery last long. My son is trilled with this present. He had a smaller version long time ago and this is now his fave.

Actually I bought this for Santa to give to my 6 year old grandson at Christmas. It was the favorite gift of the day and he plays with it all the time. He said it is much better than the one his older brother still uses.

It is what I expected from TomTom I have purchased several through the years easy to use

I was nervous about buying a 3DS at first because I was afraid that I would only play one game on it, but that's just not the case. I am so glad that I bought this because I use it all the time and it's a fun way to unwind.

Ive spent a lot of time researching this system and was apprehensive about purchasing because I had purchased the Playstation Vita and was disappointed at the slim choice of games. Thankfully the 3DS has a wide array of video games currently out and coming out in the next couple of months. When it comes to the system itself everything is great. The 3D works great but most of the time I just keep it off but occasionally during some cutscenes it is gorgeous. Would definitely recommend to any video game enthusiasts.

This DS has a larger screen and plays all of the old games the earlier version had.

Even though she is 19yrs old and works she still likes to play on her 3DS XL. When she has time to play her 3DL she plays the animal crossing games. Wished we would of had these gamming systems when I was young lol

I watched my grandkids playing their games on the smaller version and thought nothing of it. Afterall I own every other Nintendo game ever made and played Mario etc. and hadn't played in years. I got hooked on the handheld when a buddy suggested I try " Animal Crossing New Leaf " . I had to have the bigger screen. Wow.! We now have 4- 3DS XL's and 4 Animal Crossing New Leaf games and visit each others towns regularly. The grand kids mom now plays it as well. I haven't even used the camera or other features yet.

Good battery life. Plenty of game choices. Keeps us entertained. Great graphics in both 2D and 3D modes with no glasses included.

The Huge screen was great however, you have to compensate for the weight that was added. The screen outweighs the weight though
