Great hand-held game, especially if you love Mario and the crew. We have five at home now and the kids (ages 5 - 20...yes my 20 year-old son still plays the 3DS-XL) love them. My 16 year-old is the only one that doesn't have one. Two suggested add on purchases: 1) protective case-get a padded cover that is not too bulky. First I bought a big thick Nerf cover and my kids thought it was too bulky and removed it. This time, we found a much thinner, also Nerf, cover and the kids haven't removed this cover. It protects against drops and bumps, etc. 2) Most importantly!!! Buy the Best Buy warranty or product protection plan. We had two of our five 3DS-XLs that got damaged from drops and such...they were replaced without question.

Although I prefer our Wii (Not Wii U) game better (due to cheaper system price, cheaper game prices, and larger selection of games to choose from) it does stand out above the Wii in one area and that is that it is portable. It will be nice to take on for vacations.

I upgraded to this 3ds xl from the ds lite I've had for years. I really enjoy using it has more things you can do on it along with most other thing from my old one.

If I gave my daughter a choice of a million bucks, or this, she would choose this!!

My son is 4 and he loved playing with the 3DSXL. He can play lots of games on this.

The new DS is awesome. The 3D is def cool and games are great for the little ones.

I bought this system while it was $30 off so I could play the new Pokémon game. On first impression of turning it on I was disappointed by how jagged the everything looked. The screen resolution is not great. Netflix movies and game trailers aren't bad looking but they aren't amazing, Its like watching a Netflix movie on an iphone with only 1-2 bars of internet strength. Some games actually have a low res appearance when played on the XL (Rayman Origins). The reason you are buying a 3ds is because of the games. Nintendo is skilled at making fun and unique games and the 3ds proves this. That being said, there aren't alot of games for the 3ds made by 3rd party developers. If you ask people who own a 3ds what games they are playing, they'll probably all be playing the same game or group of games. The 3d effect is a gimmicky feature to me. It's cool to see things pop out of the screen but it really hinders games more than it enhances them. If the 3d effect wasn't fixed to one part of the screen then I would use it all the time. If you move the system slightly, the 3d messes up. This happens often because its a handheld device. Also with fast paced games the 3d effect will mess with your eyes. One good thing about it is the community and Club Nintendo. Ever since I bought the 3ds I see other people who own a 3ds all the time. Club Nintendo is a rewards type of thing where you register games and the more you register the more coins you get to redeem items. The internet browser and cameras aren't good. Both are reminiscent of the phones that were around before the iphone, im talking like 2005-2007 quality. However youre really buying this for the exclusive games so those don't really matter. You can play mp3s and do everything the regular 3ds does just with larger screens. If you want fun & exclusive games get this system! If you care more about internet browsing, and movie watching then get the psvita.

Daughter's Christmas gift was ready when arrived alot of options for the all ages.

The 3DS is a great device for people of any age. One of my favorite aspects of this device is the ability to switch between 3D and 2D. I was considering the PS Vita and the 3DS but the 3DS won due to the variety of games that are available for the system. All in all, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative to playing games on the go without the use of a cell phone.

I like the way it feels and especially love the color. Sure was worth the bucks.

This is a very solid choice for those looking for a great portable gaming system. All the extra apps available and the screen size make for an awesome experience. Worth it for the hardcore gamer but still too pricey for the casual that may only play one game or two.

My son loved it. This is his 2nd one, he lost the first system so we replaced it.

THIS IS MY 4 YEAR OLD SON 3DSXL. HE JUST LOVES IT FIRST ONE HE GOT. HIS COUSIN HAVE THE DSL ONE BUT THIS ONE IS SO MUCH MORE BIGGER. BUT IM NOT A FAN OF THE WHOLE 3D, SO I JUST TURN IT OFF. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, LOVE IT KEEPS HIM BUSY IN THE CAR WHILE DRIVING.

My grandson loves his Nintendo DS. He told me I was the best Nana in the world.

My four year old loves it. We use it with the 3D off and he has hours of fun!
