The card itself is solid, the cooling works well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I won't recapitulate other reviews, I was using a GTX 970 and suffice to say the bump in performance is very nice. The Pascal based gpu does support hardware acceleration of h.265 videos, so that's a good feature to have for the future. My cpu won't have to break a sweat to play that format, which features excellent compression. Online reviewers are finding these cards to boost as strongly as even the most custom of versions from nVidia's add in board partners like MSI, EVGA, and so on. Though cooling plays an essential part in that. I have a Dell XPS and its case cooling is kind of "meh". I've added a bigger PSU, with its bigger fan, to it, as well as jury rigging an input fan I managed to squeeze into the front of the case. So maybe that helps but the real trick for good boost speeds with this gpu is to use a custom fan profile. From guru3d's site you can download the beta version of Afterburner which supports the new Pascal based cards. In the future Guru3D will host the final version as usual but the software is currently in beta (version 14 at the moment). But whatever software you use, just set up a more aggressive custom fan profile so as to keep your gpu temperatures down. nVidia mandates that the bios for all chips have a very conservative level of throttling enabled based on gpu temperature (and voltage, and power usage, so overvolting is often counter productive). Long story short, if your gpu is hitting 80 degrees Celsius, or even a bit lower, you won't be getting the best boost speeds. So I set my fan profile to be at 100% fan speed at 70 degrees Celsius. I'm getting great boost speeds, and the gpu stays cool. Generally I don't hit 100% fan speed as the gpu temp levels off in the 60s, temperature wise. But in a demanding game, after a lot of play, it might come close. Now here's part of why I give this card the highest rating. To my ears the cooler never gets offensively loud. Heck, my gold rated PSU's 135 mm fan produces more volume when gaming. And the cooler really works. Even though the GTX 1070 doesn't eat a lot of power/produce a lot of heat the blower does an amazing job of pushing heat out the back of the card and out the case. I put my hand back there and I can really feel the heat when running a benchmark. This is a great thing to have if the cooling of your case is just "meh", like mine. While this card is a bit noisier at full blast than my previous GTX 970 with its excellent EVGA ACX 2.0+ cooler was, I think that overall the noise from my Dell has decreased. Getting that hot air out of the case means the case fan, cpu fan, and PSU fan are dealing with less heat emanating from the gpu, and thus they can run at a lower RPM. I wish I'd taken measurements before this purchase, but even with my Dell just a few feet from me, and when not using my headphones, I can't hear noise from the case when gaming, even in moments that are relatively quiet. If I'm in a stealthy moment of a game, with no noise, then I might notice a moderate hum of the fans from my case. After exiting the game the sound of the fans isn't at all bad, and quickly quiets down. The GTX 1070 is the quickest to cool down and become quiet, fwiw. Lol, even when the gpu fan is about down to idle I can still hear the other fans as they cycle down. This is partly why I know what's causing the most sound from my case. So, arguably, this card was the quietest solution to getting a GTX 1070 for me. With even the best/quietest custom card I might have more noise overall. Great job on this card's construction, imo.

Great GPU but limited
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased it 4 days ago because i saw it on the shelf lol and they're in limited supply. I was going from a 970. The 1070 exceeded my expectations as a standard reference card and was visually stunning. But today i returned the card because it raised my mid-tower's temperature at idle. The cooling is not sufficient for a cool and quiet solution especially as you cannot overclock/under-clock the card. The card ran most games at a solid 60fps at 4k res. Its not the recommended 4k card but it performs well enough to run BF4 4k(90%res modifier) at 60 fps ultra(no AA).Forza 6 runs in 4k easily, GTA V runs well at 75% of 4k with settings maxed, but 1440p is where the ALL games feel completely fluid. . Almost as if the cards only instinct is rendering 2k content without a hitch. The only thing negative i will say is the temperatures and no OC support. I will be getting a Super clocked edition once there's some in stock.

Best Bang For Buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this card from a GTX780 from ASUS. I do have to say I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I can over clock this card, how quiet it is and how much raw power it has available for whenever I may want to push Fallout 4 at 1440p with maxed out settings hitting a solid 70fps while running 100+ mods! I love the card and so will you.

Better than Titan X
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you planning to get RX 480 or GTX 1060, it is wise to save up or payment plan and buy this instead, because this is the actual price for Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, instead of waiting for 4 to 5 months of many sold out graphic cards. the performance on GTX 1070 will blow all the water away and performing better than GTX 980 Ti, but like all other Nvidia card, this one gets very hot and may be increase fan speed to 80-10% to keep it cool under 50-60 degree. May wise to upgrade to liquid cooling for the GPU to performance better. I'm playing fallout 4 and DOOM in ultra setting 80-90 FPS with my AMD FX 8300, but if you have intel i7, you should be able to get higher FPS. Overall this is a great buy without waiting in line.

Great 1080P Card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 290X died, and i was looking for something to hold me over until i have the budget to build a proper 4k machine. The Card runs as advertised, and is a great cooling improvement when compared to the 290X\AMD. You can't overclock the card, but that's really not the reason why i bought it, nor how it is advertised. If you need a single card to run 1080p at 60FPS, you can't go wrong with the GTX 1070. If you're looking for something higher than 1080p, you're probably better off grabbing a 1080 if you don't mind the price. The 3 year warranty is a plus, since i see myself upgrading to a dual 1080 or higher within that 3 year span. For the price i paid, I am very happy.

An excellent video card for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nvidia GTX 1070 FE is an excellent card for the price. I found it a nice improvement over the GTX 1060 I had been running. Right after installing and playing Guild Wars 2 a noticeable improvement. I primarily play GW2 and this card does very well for the MMO environment and gets good frame rate with very high/high game graphic settings. Even in the demanding GW2 World vs World multi player environment. I give this card, when set up along with a good CPU and at least 16g ram, a 8-9 out of 10 for the price and performance.

Best Bang For Your Buck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went from the 970 to 1070 and what a massive difference it made. On my gaming PC, I went from 35-45 fps on the Witcher 3 on mid to high settings to 60 fps on ultra max settings. I would suggest saving up and picking up one over the 1060 as this graphics card is the real sweet spot.

Excellent Graphic Card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Graphic card, not for games, but for Video editing, I'm using Vegas Pro 15 and the rendering is great, the image quality is superior to several Graphic cards I already had and I still have like AMD RX580, which is a good Card, but not to compare with Nvida GTX 1070 Founder Edition. I think Nvidia GTX 1080 will suit gamers better at 4K resolution, but for me the GTX 1070 is enough for everything I need.

Excellent card!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After much research and debate between getting this card or the GTX 1080,I decided to go with the 1070. Not only is it cheaper but in comparison between the 1070 and 1080 in 1080P gaming the 1080 only out beats the 1070 by 10 or so frames in most games. For me thats all I need,For some serious gamer that may need the extra frames then the GTX1080 may be the choice for you. But for the GTX 1070 I can max out all my settings on 1080P and have a smooth very stable frame rate!

Awesome Upgrade Card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from an EVGA 970 ACX 2.0 SC to this, and I love this card. The Founders Editions do have a blower style fan, so if you're an overclocking sort, then don't get this card. As a very light OC'er, I have run into no issues getting the games i love (WoW, CoD WW2, Fallout 4, COD BO4, etc) to run at 60+ FPS at 1080, and some decent performance on DX12 at 1440p.

Almost Maxed out X-Plane 10.45
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am running this in my recently purchased Dell XPS 8900. I did get add a higher wattage PSU but most of the reviews I read online said it would run with the stock one. The real driver was the lack of 8 pin PCI-E plug on the OEM PSU, it comes with two six pin PCI-E plugs. After playing around with it I am getting around 30 fps in X-Plane 10 with almost maxed out settings.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i got this card for 350 and i'm super happy with it. it's great with a 1080p 144hz monitor, even with highest settings. it runs hot, but the temperatures are extremely stable and i've heard that the temps i'm getting are normal for founder's edition.

Flawless graphics card!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had no issues installing graphics card and drivers. The card itself runs over 1800mhz turbo boost without overclocking it. The fans run quiet even at high speed. Stays below 80 celcius. Max out on all my games on my 1080p 144mhz monitor. Awesome card you wont regret buying.

An absolute beast of a card
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this after the 750 in my Asus ROG G20 croaked. This was an emergency purchase and frankly I couldn't be any more satisfied. This card is leaps and bounds ahead of what I used to have, and thanks to pascal's power efficiency, it runs beautifully on just a 230w power brick (a 180w brick powers the rest of the system). This card can run basically anything you throw at it at its max settings without a single hitch. After running valve's VR benchmark tool, it also seems that, and I quote, the card is "well above" the recommended specs for Virtual Reality. If you're looking for a new next gen graphics card that provides best in class performance for the price of a mid range card, the 1070 is perfect for you.
