It's technically a video game but also has so much more to offer. The kids have fun with it, but the adults who try it are hooked too!

I returned the 32GB model for this one. Awesome headset for viewing movies. System uses 9 GB of memory. 64 is the better option.

Fun and Hassle Free VR for the Masses

While it is true that the Oculus Go has some limitations in comparison to more advanced VR setups, the primary benefit is it's ease of usability. It is just so easy to pop it on and power up without having to hassle with cables for a PC setup or shoving your phone into a headset adapter. With the Go, you just put it on, turn it on and your are in! There are a ton of great games and VR experiences available and you can watch Netflix, Hulu and movies on big screens in beautiful VR environments. This ease of use is where the Oculus Go shines. I have had this unit for three weeks and It is still great fun put it on and watch a 3d movie, shoot some zombies or relax with some virtual fishing. You can easily bring it anywhere you go and let friends and family give it a try. The Oculus Go will not be able to play some of the more advanced titles that a PC or PlayStation setup might achieve but what it does do, it does very well. Most of the games and applications remind me more of what you would find on a smart phone instead of the more advanced titles you might play on a gaming PC or console. The Oculus Go runs on smart phone hardware after all using the Snapdragon 821 processor, otherwise found in the LG G6 and the original Google Pixel. Many of these games are incredibly fun and addictive but don't expect a ton of depth and super advanced graphics that a smart phone would not be able to produce. The other primary difference between the Go and more advanced setups is the degree of freedom that you have within the VR environment. The Go has 3 Degrees of Freedom (3DoF) meaning that it can tell when you turn you head left or right, up and down, or if you tilt your head from side to side. This does a great job of allowing you to feel immersed in a virtual world. However, a more advanced headset with 6DoF would also allow you to lean forward and backward to get a closer look at or pull away from something. It would also allow you to move forward, back or sideways within a VR space. I have tried the Oculus Rift and while 6DoF is kind of cool, you also need to be very aware of the space you are in and that you don't walk into something or someone. Battery life is not the longest. Do yourself a favor and get something like the Anker - PowerCore 20,000 mAh Portable Charger. Under $50 at Best Buy. This will allow you to recharge wherever you are. It comes with a long enough cable and I choose to allow it to trickle charge my headset while I am playing, giving me up to 16 hours of play time. Not that I do that... Whether or not you decide to allow your unit to charge while wearing it, this handy accessory is still great to have when traveling. For me, the Oculus Go, while limited in some ways, hits the sweet spot in the VR market. It allows an immersive VR experience at an attractive price and is totally transportable to wherever you want to take it. It is less pixelated than most current VR headsets so the Screen Door Effect is diminished in this product compared to most other current VR solutions. While it is not the pinnacle of technology in VR headsets, it is the first affordable headset that hits all the right notes, delivering a positive VR experience on the go.
