If you've never tried VR before you need this!

I bought this about a month ago and am still impressed by this product. It's not just the fact that I can now experience Virtual Reality without inserting a cell phone into a headset and strapping to my face. It's amazing to me that I don't need a powerful PC or laptop that is tethered to me as well. Being that it's all self-contained and comfortable to wear for long periods of time makes it something I use every day! The quality of the product is apparent right from the minute you open the box. It's built well, light, and works as promised. The internal very high quality speakers and lenses create a very good feeling of immersion, whether you're watching Hulu or Netflix on virtual screens in beautiful environments, or you're playing many of the reasonably priced games available for it on the Oculus store. It's not going to play the high-end games that are built for the Oculus Rift headset but you're also not going to pay the prices for those games either. I've got so many experiences loaded on the 64GB model I purchased, still have about 30GB available for more and have spent about $100 total on software/apps/games. For that amount of money I have so many different kinds of experiences that I'm never bored with the Go. Even after the wow factor wears off it's still something you'll want to experience on a daily basis. Perfect for a small apartment! I feel liberated as I now can experience my favorite media i huge environments and relax in beautifully rendered outdoor environments. I own another gaming console that i use for that type of experiences. The Go fills another type of experience that is both new and fun as well. I will look into the upcoming Oculus standalone this spring that has more advanced features currently only found on the Oculus Rift. But for now the Oculus Go is a pleasant surprise that I highly recommend everyone with even a passing interest in VR should purchase. For the price it's a steal.

So, I rarely play video games... could care less, but I wanted something to sit with, look at, and talk to friends in virtual worlds... people that live in different states, etc. This is perfect for that... only uses internet, no phone or data concerns. Free apps like VTime and Altspace allow you to watch things with friends, play board games and trivia, listen to music in your virtual room or in outer space, on the edge of a mountain, or in an outside cafe in Paris, France. The screen and resolution are amazing, and it feels like you are really there together. This is also great for teenagers as there are lots of educational apps available about the body, geography, outer space/the cosmos/NASA, etc. Through an app called Wander, you can go anywhere in the world and see everything through a 360 degree view... you can even go to Mars (courtesy of the photos sent back from the Mars Rovers/Gala 360) or the moon (courtesy of the photos sent back from the Chinese moon rover/Gala 360). Certainly enhances any education involving places... Best thing about this: Easy to set up and use, no wires involved, and no additional computer or phone to buy/use. It's perfect and maybe my favorite electronics purchase of all-time.

I am a noob to VR

I just picked this up and I have just got to say it’s awsome. The single controller is nice and smooth to use. More apps then know what to do with and I would even say there will be more once it catches on. Charges better quick to. I would like to see like YouTube or iTunes access allowed but hopefully in time. Only two cons I can think are an issue is the battery and storage capacity. I went with the 64 GB cause i know they can take up some room when taking about storage space. As for the battery most accurate I have fond is if your watching a movie it’s 2 1/2 hours if your playing games and app it’s closer to 2 hours. Either way price makes a HUGE difference and the ease of use of the headset makes it extremely user friendly.

your not going to wear this when your spouse is around wanting to watch tv. I did psvr for a while and it felt like i was wearing a helmet with wires. All you have to do is slip this on and do what you want. By no means powerful or a long battery life..really short.. But this is has been a much funner trip and so easy. If you are a high end pc gamer of course dont waste your time. But this is honestly were VR has to go. Easy to slip on and just relax. So fun..And Im a big gamer too.

    Love it just...

Love it just wish it had a longer battery life. I had the best weekend playing this Oculus go I was just upset I had to stop after 2 hours then wait 3 hours for it to recharge. I have a Samsung gear VR in which I purchased several games for and I was so happy that I could just put my account in Oculus go online app from my phone going to your App Store and download it) I was able to play all those games, and because of your purchase you were giving free games as well which I found out later that the one I love called pet lab is a demo. I was able to also install a Gamepad to play the games with online help because unfortunately the Oculus go does not come with a manual or at least mine's didn't just a safety warranty manual that showed some pictures and give you a bunch of warnings. because some of the fighting games you can't use the controller that comes with it to play some games you must have a Gamepad(I have a Nintendo 8Bitdo NeS30 pro wireless Bluetooth game controller). Setup was pretty easy Once you downloaded the app to your phone it was separate from the Samsung gear VR app. Since I was already logged into Oculus through the Samsung Gear VR I didn't have to put in my password and username I just clicked on every game that I wanted to put on the Oculus go then put on the Oculus go went to the library and clicked on the games to download. They had enough battery on there for me to do that. To add to Gamepad you had to go into the Oculus app find your Oculus go hit the arrow to open up the menu and click add controller and hopefully your Bluetooth is already on and you should be able to find your controller. ENJOY

    Absolutely great

This is my first endeavor into VR and I waddled through the smartphone headsets by Google and Zeiss before realizing that type is impossible to focus and inferior to these more expensive types. The Oculus GO 64 gb was everything I hoped to buy and is truly a fantastic VR headset. It is not too heavy but will leave the red marks if you wear it for over 2 hrs. The screen is clear as day and the 3D 360 VR is quite clear with no headaches or focus issues to speak yet. In the week I have owned this headset I have tested different games and apps which vary in quality. I suspect many more Apps will be available as it appears much of the library is similar to Gear VR. The battery life could be better at about 2 hours and they could add an indicator on how much disk space is remaining but otherwise the device is great. The built in speakers in the headstrap are more than sufficient for casual use. I had no trouble sideloading content through the micro USB port connected to my PC. Just know that when you plug in to your computer you need to put on the headset to click to allow access or the PC wont be able to access the VR Headset content. Overall a great entry in the standalone VR space. I have not tried Rift or other more expensive VR but the price for those is well beyond what I prefer to spend. The 64gb model was my preference and I see myself filling the remaining 30 gb in no time,

I just got this a couple of days ago and it's really amazing. This is a perfect VR set on a budget. Very easy set up. There is a great library of content and more is always being added. Cost of games and apps are reasonable. The 3D visuals are amazing along with the surround sound speakers built in. It also has a built-in microphone so you can chat online while gaming. Overall it's a great experience. Well worth the money. I would highly recommend this product. I also recommend the 64gb over the 32. You'll definitely want the space since there is no expandable memory and I'd suggest getting the protection plan as well.

OK first up, amazing device. I was immersed to the 360 view around me, flawless graphics, personal theater, and a really compelling price. I returned it because I did not feel I was going to get the use out of it I was thinking I would, and also if you have glasses (even with their insert) you will have some comfort issues. Also, there is no BT audio, but that is minor. If you have time to spend with a rectangle on your face, and an office chair to spin around on while you shoot the hordes of zombies headed your way then this is great. If you are just a casual viewer, or have glasses wait till 2nd gen of this.

The future of VR at a great price!

Lets face facts, VR is still a ways off from perfect, however when Facebook purchased this company I scratched my head. However now I know why. If you are expecting state of the art VR, think again. They are still a ways off on these headset. This is the future of gaming and social media and entertainment and for $250 this is a pretty good deal for this VR stand alone headset. Combined with more games and feature than the competition (Lenovo), it really offers up a pretty neat device capable of performing at quick speeds and you can even access a browser to watch online video. I would highly recommend spending this little money on this great device which is bound to get even better over time.

For those looking to watch content in a whole new and amazing way and also play some fun lighter games, this is an amazing buy. No need for a powerful PC to run VR, and the screen resolution on the Go is actually better than the Vive and Rift. This isn’t the headset to play VR games that require two controllers and a PC, but I’ve still had a ton of fun playing games on this headset. Totally recommend getting the 64 gb version though since you can load any media you want on it!

Awesome VR headset for a great price. I have a gaming PC but I haven't thought VR was 'there' yet. Oculus released this standalone device and I picked one up, as finally I wouldn't have to spend $1k and setup an entire room for it. It is awesome! Really a very cool device that instantly shows you the future and blows your mind open as to where we are headed. There are a ton of awesome apps for it, from experiencing the moon landing to racing games. Highly recommended.

I bought the Oculus Go 64GB headset and had to return to the store after using it for one week for the following reasons: - motion sickness after 1 hour of using it - heavy and battery lasts lesser than 3 hours - screen resolutions not that good, I would say much less than 720p - some of my iOS devices got disconnected when I connected OG to my wireless network. Android? The headset has some good things though like no need for inserting a smart phone, big screen video, fitting prescription glasses easily, ease of setup, various applications, and relatively reliable.

The screen resolution is surprisingly good. There are some pretty cool games and apps, not like psvr or pc but they are pretty fun. It feels comfortable and you dont really see anything but the screen, it really submerges you into the vr world. Its definitely worth the money. Its a kinda cool little toy for any adult and any kid would enjoy the crap out of it.

My husband bought me the Oculus Go for my birthday. It’s a lot of fun. Of course we managed to purchase one that had a software problem and had to return it. The only downside so far is the battery life on the unit and it also recommends you not use it while charging. But I would still buy it. It would be nice if the employees of Best Buy knew about the products they sold. When I had to return this I wasn’t sure what was wrong with it. They didn’t even try to figure it out. Never looked at it or turned it on. The young man at “Customer Service” was rude. I didn’t even open it for 4 days till after my birthday since I was ill. I returned it the day I opened it. He acted like I was trying to get away with something. And my husband purchased an extra warranty on it as we usually do on our electronic items. It’s getting to the point where I’m just going to buy all I can from Amazon. I get good, professional customer service and no attitude.

It works great and is worth very penny just to watch all the great free content. Get two because you won't have time to share yours. Apollo 11 was the app that made feel apart of history. This is pure portable magic that works well. You really can be anything or be where you can imagine now. Must by!!!!!!

Great Visuals / Requires a Mobile Phone

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The visuals of this vr system is very impressive in content shot by quality cameras, I did not expect the level of immersion that Oculus Go delivers. It is pretty amazing! The only down side of the experience is that, despite being presented as a "standalone" product, the system does require a mobile phone for the initial set up, which includes the download of the Oculus app and user registration on their website. However, after syncing with the app, everything is pretty simple within the product OS. This is my first go with any vr headset but was definitely worth the money I spent. If you are looking for a high-level gaming experience, find another headset with additional motion tracking capability.
